Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Agree with others that it would be crazy to sack Ange now after he delivered our biggest trophy in decades and got us back into the Champions League

He needs to start the season as our manager, it's well deserved, but he also needs to show he can adapt. He played Mourinho football yesterday, he went to a back 3 when needed - that's the type of stuff we wanted to see when the season was going to shit. Just to grind results out when the expansive way wasn't working. I'm hoping he's got past his stubbornness.

If he can keep that tactical adaptability whilst adding some of the flair football he can produce with a full team, we might just do ok in the League next season - all depends on big Ange.

Personally, I liked the 3 at the back yesterday. Our fullbacks are probably better at wingback, when everyone is fit, we have some decent CBs (including a couple of young ones coming through) and it removes our weakest point, which is our wingers

He achieved something beyond his capabilities and capacities. He should leave now as a hero, so we can push on to the next level. He’ll be remembered fondly, because he won a European trophy, because he took over a job nobody wanted after Kane left, because he took the scared approach out of the deep roots of this team, instilled by Conte, and because he brought some insanely good talent for us to have for years to come in Bergvall, Van De Ven, Gray, Sarr etc.
So what you're saying is... he's a fucking genius?

Beyond his capabilities and capacities? Are you for real?

No-one gets through the long, long grind of a Europa campaign without having massive capability. You guys have one of the world's great managers and should be begging him to stay. He's built a very young squad who now have a taste of success. Despite an injury list that would cripple any club he's somehow triumphed. He's got Champion's league next year and at least 130 mill pounds flowing into the coffers.

And on top of all that the players want him to stay.

Has it occurred to you that if Ange leaves, there will be less top quality players interested in joining the Spurs journey next year?

FMD... you don't deserve him.

i noticed last night and still this morning that a few of them have gone into hiding instead of celebrating here. Couldnt wait to post whenever we lose but nope, strangely quiet now. fair play to a few like Doom Funk Doom Funk etc

but a couple of the others, Fucking gooners as i always thought.
Always had the same suspicion about certain accounts. They just embrace any misery and always knock the club, manager and players. I have no problem with the ones who do that but then celebrate wins and are delighted players or manager proved them wrong.

But the ones who hide during wins but are on here all day writing paragraphs after a defeat are just pathetic. They can't honestly be fans. I don't believe it and never will.

Doomy is my guy, he gives as much as he takes :ledleylick:

It’s fantastic how much pressure last night puts on Levy now. Some will see it as he’s probably thinking “we’ve won something finally and it’s a big one, pressure is off” but I honestly think it’s the opposite.

He’s got a choice to make now and it’s a massive one and it again puts the eyes on him, he can go big and say we’ve won something and now we need to push on with someone who can achieve something both in cups AND the league and go and get a manager we’ll set up to do that.

Or he can keep Ange at this point, but if he does that (and I’ve said where I stand on it) then he simply has to fully him. He can’t keep Ange and just sort of let him muddle on with what he’s got, if he’s making that choice to keep him in place then he really has to let him have the keys and build what he’s wants because how can he not after last night?

Don’t get me wrong he needs to back whoever the manager is, but I feel we could improve solely with a manager change, but it depends on how big he wants that improvement to be.

That’s a tough decision for him and honestly I think more eyes are on him now, I don’t think k he’s in a place where the focus comes off of him because we finally got one over the line. His next decision is, for me, his biggest yet in terms of his ambition level.

I suppose he's earned a shot at the Super Cup and the start of next season. However I've seen nothing to suggest progress had been made, or thay Surs are 3 or 4 quality players away from being a great side.

Being in the CL will help to attract better players, as will the fact that the players seem to love him.

So give him the Super Cup the pre season and IMO the first 5 games. I think 10 is too many if it's not working out.

5 league games should be enough time to see if Spurs are improving, but not enough to be seriously harmful if it's not going well.

This thread is smelling of roses today, it's a much better place without the stench from the usuals giving the personal abuse and talking down anyone who dares to say something positive about the manager 😎

They've turned this place toxic this season. Life is too short to come on here day after day to face their crap.

Spurs' form was bad enough without seeing people gloat and revel in it.

It's been lovely being back and enjoying some success.

Couldn't believe the neck of some of them yesterday. A few hours before the final they are just on here calling our manager "a fat cunt" and giving out to fans who are behind the team.

Absolutely bizarre scenes. Best day the club has had in 41 years and thats how they spent the day! Insane. Beyond insane. I hope this is a wake up call for some of them. If you can't enjoy these wins then what is the point in any of it?

Roberto Di Matteo won the CL with Chelski - yet he soon got exposed for his lack of tactical abilities. Unless he's had some amazing "realizations" it's the same Angelos now than the Angelos who was not good enough a few days ago. Just look at his EPL record for the last 1 1/2 season.

Be interesing to see how many of these accounts were on here celebrating our biggest win in over 40 years last night?

Might click though all the accounts to see their recent posting history. TBF I think Doom Funk Doom Funk and TonySoprano TonySoprano are good guys who mean well and just think Spurs will be better off once Ange leaves.

But some of the others are just so miserable that they probably didn't even enjoy the win lastnight because fans like me would be happy!

yeah can't be lumping Doomy in there with some of the names on that list. In fact the vast majority are just decent Spurs fans who were largely right about the manager in the league all along.

But there's a couple of names there who should be ashamed to even think of celebrating this cup. Their language and treatment of the manager was an absolute disgrace.

COYS

Fair fucks for last night, pulled a number on them and credit where its due. Ironically playing totally Mourinho/Conte football but it worked so who cares. He deserves the next few days to be smug if he wants.

Still needs to go though. We just hardly ever beat good sdes, check our record against last seasons and this seasons top 10. You cant take that into the CL and we've seen he struggles with more than 1 competition at a time. It would be a disaster and we' d be scrambling around in October for someone. Whatever happens a decision needs to be quick, like Monday or Tuesday next week. We cant afford to drag it out like Utd and Ten Hag last summer. This is a golden opportunity to be a really serious club again and we cant throw it away because of sentiment.
It’s exactly the Ten Haag situation last summer but exacerbated because we don’t win trophies regularly so emotions are heightened.

They kept Ten Haag, it was the wrong decision, and fucked them over for the next year. We are probably going to repeat that mistake.

Sometimes the hard decision is the right one. Keeping him is probably the easy way out.

Does that surprise you?

Most of these people find misery in everything the club does and do their best to spin everything into a negative, the playing down of potentially winning this comp was the funniest thing I've read on here all because people don't like the manager and all because they're so desperate not to be wrong...we didn't hear anything of this under previous managers by the way.

Imagine doing essays 6 hours before your club's biggest match for years about the manager and moaning at fans getting behind him, they are beyond help.

Yeah. Ten Hag finished 8th on 60 pts, beating their fancied rivals to win the trophy which created the doubt. We have a pretty big sample size of defeats over 16 months now to make a more informed decision. The win was great, fair do's for getting the monkey off our backs but its the right time for all concerned. I hope emotion doesnt dictate the decision. If Vinai and Paratici are forced to back someone who isnt their choice and probably dont want it will be fairly short lived and leave us in a mess in the early autumn imo. For what its worth Ornstein still thinks he's going.

Nah it not exactly the same.

united recruitment has been far, far far worse than ours, their players weren't behind the manager at all - completely different vibe
