"I think when we got to the end of January - the end of the transfer window and assessed our situation - I made a decision there and then that this was the trophy we were going to go for.
It was at odds with what other people believed at the time we should do and that's understandable but I really believed we could win this.
Everything we've done since then, everything we've done in training and the teams I've selected were making sure that when these games came around that we were in the best possible position to tackle them.
That has come at a cost for sure in the league and I have to take responsibility for that, but I just felt the end game of winning something was more important to me and it's the only way that I was going to do it."

i noticed last night and still this morning that a few of them have gone into hiding instead of celebrating here. Couldnt wait to post whenever we lose but nope, strangely quiet now. fair play to a few like Doom Funk Doom Funk etc

but a couple of the others, Fucking gooners as i always thought.

As someone who has followed Ange’s career, he has a tendency to walk when he wins and in conjunction with some reservations regarding resources given and/or the board/ management style. He did it at STH Melbourne, he did it at Brisbane, the Socceroos, Yokohama, Celtic and will probably walk from Spurs. I hope he doesn’t, I’d like to see him given the opportunity to learn from this season in conjunction to getting a few quality seasoned players in, and see what he can do.
He’s achieved his major objective, winning a trophy.
I think he’s going to walk. He’s copped a tonne of shit from supporters and media pundits. He doesn’t forget. Ask Craig Foster!
Leave on a high Ange.
Not so simple.
Most probably he left all these jobs because he had better offers. It's not easy to have one now. In which case:
  • Ange will not quit a job he likes (and at the same time throw 10mil out of the window)
  • Levy will most probably not throw these 10mil either. Given that the pressure eased after the EL cup he can go on with his project of cheap but performing team.
Personally I think that this will be good for the club (not the board, all the rest).

Its very difficult to get rid of him. The players like him. Hes won our biggest trophy in 40 years.

Hes also showed he can change his tactics on the night. 5 at the back, low block etc...

He deserves another summer. We probably will regret it, but I think we owe him that.

They should still have been more dangerous on the counter-attacks - because being efficient on counter attacks does not depends as much on a having a creative MF schemer but more on the swift movement of the ball.

Fair, and look, Ange even said in his post-match presser we should have done better on the counter, but really, looking at the players, it wasn't a counter-attacking team

Most of them are just people that come alive during the bad times - they don't come on here to celebrate, they come on here to vent and take out their frustration on the keyboard

How many of Sonny's goals were because Kane could drop the ball right on his toe from 25 yards so he didn't even have to break stride? We are lacking someone that can do that. Deki is probably the closest and even if I love him he is no Harry Kane.

Yeh let him start the season. He’s getting sacked when it goes pear shaped. He can’t blag another year and despite what people think the trophy glory does wear off.

Respectfully part ways, his work is done. That’s what should happen.

But it probably won’t.

Fair fucks for last night, pulled a number on them and credit where its due. Ironically playing totally Mourinho/Conte football but it worked so who cares. He deserves the next few days to be smug if he wants.

Still needs to go though. We just hardly ever beat good sides, check our record against last seasons and this seasons top 10. You cant take that into the CL and we've seen he struggles with more than 1 competition at a time. It would be a disaster and we' d be scrambling around in October for someone. Whatever happens a decision needs to be quick, like Monday or Tuesday next week. We cant afford to drag it out like Utd and Ten Hag last summer. This is a golden opportunity to be a really serious club again and we cant throw it away because of sentiment.

Not after Ange has brought home the bacon. Say a new guy gets off to a sticky start ... he would be under massive pressure after about a month. I think it is more like a binary choice now ... either Levy pulls the trigger or Ange gets next season.

He got us a cup, in to the Champions League and the super cup final.

With his 100% record in finals for us I think he should be in charge for the super cup, which in turn means going in to next season.

League form will improve but football, as we so often hear during our drought, is about trophies.

Look, I agree about parting ways - it's probably the best thing to do - I just wonder how the players actually feel they look like they will still run through walls for him and the younger ones especially, seem enamoured.

None of us knows what goes on behind closed doors and what has been said.

The only scenario I can see him staying is if he and Levy had a convo earlier in the year where Ange tells him I'm winning you this cup - forget the league, we need to win a cup and this is the one.

It doesnt excuse the performances, and Levy himself has copped a lot of flak because of how bad we have been - and would probably feel pretty justified in pulling the trigger - but there's also probably a reason why he is still here.

Neither outcome would massively surprise me. What a weird position to be in.
