Seems like you might be outing yourself a bit there.

We've won an FA Cup and 2 x League Cups since 1984. It is by no means "our first major piece of silverware since 1984"
Outing myself what the fuck are you talking about?

The FA cup and league cups are not as prestigious as a Europa particularly when it comes with champions league qualification as an added bonus.
To suggest otherwise is assinine

Here we go.

Was it only today that another report was put up that Romero would be inclined to stay but ONLY if AP stayed?

Has he got the hump because AP didn't take him on holiday with him?

This truly is the age of misinformation, yet despite constantly seeing that 99% of it is bullshit, there are still droves soaking it all up like a sponge.

This report is ancient.

The point I was trying to make was the Football insider knows f all.

There's a lot of "feel-good" that is starting to wear off as we gain some distance from the EL win. I suspect more reports like this to emerge in the coming week or two.

This argument about him sacking off the league. How many games did he actually sack off? By which I mean clearly rotated players to prioritise the Europa.

West Ham away
Forest at home
Palace away
Villa at home
Brighton at home (we had already won the Europa at this point tbf)

So only really 4 matches.

I'm not sure I buy the argument that he downed tools since February.
Yes you're right. Its yet more excuses and changing of objectives given how we're fairing in any competition at a given time. Go out the league cup early against Fulham then winning a league cup wont shift the narrative around the club, blow 4th place then top 4 doesnt define us, lose a ton of league games then winning a trophy does suddenly define us....and we werent trying in those league games anyway.

The only reason that we "sacked off" the league during the spring to aim at the Europa solely is because of Ange's failure to manage the squad properly during the fall.

Sits so right with me.

90% of him "delivering" this cup was circumstance. The circumstance of us having nothing to play for in any other competition quite early on. The circumstance of the cup draw. The circumstance of having a golden opportunity to play an insanely fragile United team in a final.

You don't keep a manager on because he benefitted from circumstance.

Winning the league is the goal. A team in 5th with a legitimate manager that is playing CL football could attract players with similarly lofty aspirations, and could grow one more step into those aspirations. A team in 17th is in more danger of going down than daring and doing anything great.

One of the top ten most valuable clubs in the world should be aiming at the biggest honors which those other nine are winning, not what the Spam are aiming at, just staying up and maybe grabbing something silver once in a blue moon. Our aspirations are not to win second tier honors just to stop banter from rival fans. A season that gets us closer to the former, of being the best, is a better one.
You won't get there under this ownership regardless of the manager.

He refused to rotate, and ran his starters into the ground with many consecutive games in a row, expecting to only utilize suicide tactics which are known to blow out hamstrings.

It's like 7 years old playing FIFA- all they known how to do is hold down the sprint button and hope for the best.

I can't actually believe how bad the PTSD, Stockholm syndrome and just general patheticness from some of you.

We're one of the richest clubs in the world, top 5 most successful in English football history, have one of/the best stadiums in the world and a world wide fanbase.

Stop coming out with ridiculous bullshit like "why would Thomas Frank come to us" you fucking pathetic tarts.

Other than Frank maybe not wanting the pressure of the role,or indeed an excess of loyalty to Brentford, which I would applaud, exactly as you say.

Why do people assume managers are never capable of more?

Frank has been finishing in mid table with Brentford.. so he’s now destined to ALWAYS be a mid table manager according to some? Different finances, players and all sorts, what’s to say he doesn’t do exceptionally well with the step up? Sure he could go either way but why do people always assume that you are only capable of what you have done to that point.

Ange hadn’t done anything truly noteworthy before the Europa League win (please don’t say Scotland, laughable league) but with the Europa league win he’s actually got something decent under his belt now. If we keep him then fine, I think I know how that ends But equally if you gave someone like Frank the exact same circumstances as Ange had this year, I’d fancy him to win his first major trophy too.

If it’s Ange, fine, we’ll see what happens. If it’s Frank, I’ll back the bloke and hope he gets the chance to show his real capabilities.

Not as prestigious granted, but a hell of a lot easier to win. 2 teams from the prem lge having their worst seasons ever got to the final. Didn’t have to get past Liverpool, Woolwich, city, Newcastle or Chelsea.
Beat Frankfurt and Bilbao, both champ lge next season, on the way.
The rest of Europe must be sick of the English with all their money.
