He played weakened teams because we had already been so bad in the league that we were left in no man's land. Let's not act like he made that decision out of choice, it was because we were already so crap that he saw the EL as by far the easiest way to achieve anything.

Not to mention, weakened teams shouldn't mean unable to beat Ipswich or Leicester.

They probably wouldn't finish anywhere near 17th.

Dictated to him by the injuries haha, jesus. We were awful in the league before injuries and we were awful at the end of last season without injuries. It was dictated to him by his own shoddy management skills, there was nothing "ballsy" about it, it was unprofessional bullshit based on utterly failing to compete against teams in England so throwing everything behind the Europa which was an easier target.
So you see nothing ballsy about coming out and saying you always win a trophy in your second season, then putting all your eggs into the one basket and actually achieving it?

Do you have any romance for the club in your soul my dude?

Would you really be happier winning the top 4 trophy and sacking off the domestics ala Poch every season?

Fuck that.

Totally disagree with your assessment as well, we were absolutley murdered by injuries around November and December at the busiest time of the season.

The proof is in the fact that Gray played so many games at centre back. Bergvall probably wouldn't have played nearly as many minutes in any other season either. These guys were bought for the future.

He weighed it up, realised he couldn't get CL through the league, realised he had to nurse players like Romero and VDV back and gave the league up. Just look at the lineups. its there in black and white for all to see.

That's not me giving him a pass for some for the 22 losses or some of the awful defeats to the Ipswiches and Leicesters.
I've roasted him long and hard about that and that's why he only gets 10 games to prove himself next season.

Outing myself what the fuck are you talking about?

The FA cup and league cups are not as prestigious as a Europa particularly when it comes with champions league qualification as an added bonus.
To suggest otherwise is assinine

Outing yourself with not knowing the club's history. Your post comes across like you've misheard something and assumed it to be true.

Doesn't matter how you perceive the prestige - it is not our first "major" trophy since 1984. Accept the L and move on

Those same idiots think winning the league with Whittlesea fucking Zebras translates yo being a PL coach though.

We ain't dealing with fully matured or reasonable grey matter, are we?
the problem with postecoglou is hes got these australians following him about desperate to be validated in football, dont get me wrong, theres a lot of idiot spurs fans. but his little cult following him about are distorting it a fair bit i think. they are all over the internet.

Most if the idiots supporting him are actually existing English Spurs fans now though. The state of some of them is shocking. You can see the utter nonsense in it when you see their faces on YouTube or by the way they writter dross on here. It's insanity.

I don't care who we bring in as long as we get rid of this gas lighting manipulator.

Getting a bit boring this, have a nice evening pal lol.

All you had to do was say that and we're cool.

I feel like the dirty little secret is that it's really been all the Americans supporting Ange from the beginning.

His whole devil-may-care schtick both on and off the pitch is very much tuned to an American sensibility. Whereas there's a lot about the standard rhetoric of English football we find baffling.

There's a lot of "feel-good" that is starting to wear off as we gain some distance from the EL win. I suspect more reports like this to emerge in the coming week or two.
Agreed.

I posted after the win that it was far too early to make a decision. You don't make rational decisions when emotions are at their highest.

The EL win is and was wonderful, but the league is your barometer, particularly for a club of our stature.

There have been instances when other clubs have had awful seasons, Chelsea for example, but theirs was down to player power. Downing tools because they didn't like or want the manager at the time. The filth had a nightmare start to the season 3 or 4 years ago, weren't they in the relegation spots midway through the season? Yet they rallied and bounced back up the table.

In our case, the players haven't downed tools, nor did they rally in the league. There's only one logical conclusion to arrive at there, and it's because of the way we've been coached to play. Yes injuries have exacerbated our problems, but to the point where we lose 22 games in a 38 game season?

Our Football has regressed no matter who we have starting, it's unrecognisable from what we played for nigh on 2/3 of last season. At times it's like watching a kids game on the park, where everyone is chasing the ball.

I wanted him to succeed with us as much, if not more, than the majority of posters on here, I championed him from the start.

But it simply hasn't worked, barring the odd game where we've blown teams away with a flurry of goals in short spells. There's no control, no cohesion, no discernible plan.

I really like the bloke, and I'll forever remember him fondly for THAT Wednesday night, but he's simply not done what I thought and hoped he would do, so for me he just has to go.

I couldn't give a flying fuck how that is perceived by other fans or the media, IMO that is what's best for the club, and the club ALWAYS comes first.

Not as prestigious granted, but a hell of a lot easier to win. 2 teams from the prem lge having their worst seasons ever got to the final. Didn’t have to get past Liverpool, Woolwich, city, Newcastle or Chelsea.
Beat Frankfurt and Bilbao, both champ lge next season, on the way.
The rest of Europe must be sick of the English with all their money.
Sorry but that is such a bullshit narrative and one that I've heard a few people spouting and drives me utterly crazy.

The Europa is a lot harder to win than an FA Cup. For starters if you are in the Europa you have to play a minimum eight extra games and all of the travel that entails, Thursday > Sundays which we know is an absolute killer. And probably contributed heavily to our injuries.
Then you play home and away another what 8-10 games home and away to actually win it?
You make it sound like away to Frankfurt in a hostile atmosphere is a piece of piss...

The FA cup, you come in at the 3rd round. Play what? 5 games, no replays, straight to penalties and its totally random. You might win it without having to play any of the teams you mentioned. Most times you might play one of the clubs you mentioned.

I love the FA cup but it is nowhere near as prestigious or difficult to win as a Europa. People say this because we played Bodo Glint in the semi's but I like to remind them that Bodo side knocked out Lazio, hardly a small club.
