Well, he was the solution to one 17 year old and 40 year old problem respectively: :D

And given that in his first Presser our latest manager said this:

I'd suggest De Zerbi thinks Postecoglou's style is the solution to the relegation fight brought upon us by the people who were wrong about pretty much everything 🤷‍♂️

I like Ange for the cup win, but that makes him as much as a great coach than it did to di Matteo, when he won the CL with Chelsea.

I get the logic of that but the circumstances are completely different. Di Matteo took over one of the best squads in Europe - Spurs have a very middling squad that overachieved in 23/24.

Also Di Matteo didn't have to endure an unprecedented injury crisis that took 4 of his starting Back 5 out for over 3 months.

So for me - that makes the whole "story" of the 24/25 season a completely different beast. Decent start; massive injury crisis; bleak January/February; Postecoglou doubling down on his "I always win things in my second season"; WillWilliams WillWilliams "Positivity Thread"... And then Bilboa. And Victory.

That is an insane ride with a nuts Hollywood ending - no one remembers Di Matteo at Chelsea but Postecoglou will be famous/infamous forever as this thread shows. :D

And yes there all sorts of questions about Postecoglou's ability as a manager but the events of this season prove beyond shadow of a doubt that the problems at Spurs go WAAYYY beyond just the "manager".

Thankfully De Zerbi is bringing back proper football and we may just get out of this mess.

It would be an interesting exercise to compare the market value of the two squads ( adjusted for footballer's inflation).

Drogba or Solanke? haha

Seeing articles like this, and the general consensus around Villa fans being ecstatic to be in a final and potential European champions with slightly green eyes.

A portion of our fanbase and supporters WERE absolutely shameful during our period. Hell-bent on shitting on it or taking away from the achievement.

The run we had, the teams we beat and the obstacles overcame way outweigh those of Villa's this season.

True supporters will always have THAT night, and remember Ange for the person and manager he was - true Tottenham legend who was absurdly let go before his time.

The rest just have weak mentality and that's all it really comes down to at the end of the day.

Are Villa 17th in the league and absolutely wretched most every time out for 18 months? Seems just a small difference there.

We don't know where Villa would 've been if they were missing 11 players (4+ starters) most of the time.
Although one could guess.
After the injuries we've had this season completely hamstringing us and leaving us fighting relegation I must admit I do feel Postecoglou probably would have seen us finish at least midtable if everyone had been fit during his spell in charge. This probably would have seen him keep his job alongside the EL win. I loathed him at the time but after this season I'm a bit more forgiving. Why have our injuries exploded so much over the last two seasons though? Half our first team has been missing for over a year! Is it the medical staff or have we just been cursed?

Aston Villa have 20 more points and are 12 spots higher in the table than we were last year. They’ll qualify for CL with or without winning Europa.

It is not rocket science to understand why the feeling of supporters would be different between the two seasons. That uninspired Villa performance at home last weekend was our Premier League reality for basically the entire season under Ange in 24-25.

And it didn't matter who was available, we were shite regardless

Comparing Villa this season to us last season is a bit daft and simple minded.

However, Emery is many times the better coach and manager that Ange is. It’s not even close. There’s the main difference.

Saying that, Ange is so many times better than a few on here want to admit.

And what to do with that?

Surely Chelseas squad was better, so were their opponents in the superior competition.

Chelsea had one of the most expensive if not the most expensive squads ever assembled. Not only multiples time over what Postecoglou's Spurs was worth but what their opponents in the Champions League were worth. Its no surprise that the only trophies he ever won as a manager were with the same squad.

Posteecoglou's first season is not credited enough. He finished fifth and he did it without Kane.

A day or so ago, a stat showed Kane had scored more goals this season than our club as a whole has.

Kane carried Spurs over the past decade. Deduct several places on the table and that's where we would have finished without him. That's the true measure of the managers of the past.

On that comparison finishing fifth without Kane was a huge result.

If we stay up, and De Zerbi gets fifth next season with the same players, he will be a miracle worker. That's the measure of Postecgolou's first season.

And well know what he did in his second. Give the man his dues.
