Yeah, think a lot of expectation was built on our start, without appreciating our squad limitations.

Hard for some to re-adjust.

Which I can understand...

But then we lost van de Ven and Maddison for two months. Lost Romero for 3 games. Richarlison missed games through surgery. Bissouma lost 2 months due to suspension and an international tournaments. Udogie missed a few games through suspension.

So for those expectations to continue to be built successfully without the necessary tools seems a bit like it's on the fans to me...

You either thought we'd struggle this year or you didn't. If you thought we'd struggle, you can't really be too mad at how the season is going. If you didn't, you will probably be quite reasonable in your expectations and understand some of the issues we've been through.

The whole season will not only have been a leaning curve for the players but for the manager too. He's building his vision, his team and every single week, these players are being analysed and tested. We'll see in the summer who's passed that test.

Yeah, it's not rational.

Football innit.

I really don’t like this mentality from some of you that if you support Ange, you’re a ‘cult member’. We’ve had enough toxicity and divisiveness in the last 4 years as is

I support the team, but I also back the manager. I’m just not reactionary during a bad spell and am willing to be patient.

Even if there are some on here that are Aussie or Celtic fans and only support or follow Ange, those people have generally been more pleasant than what some of the posters on here have been.

We’re not all going to agree with one another and that’s fine, but there’s no need for some of the nastiness and insults I’ve seen towards other people

That’s not it. There’s a narrative on social media that if you criticise 1% the manager then you’re a bad fan or impatient. That’s where the cult comments come from. For some posters on there constructive criticism or debate of our tactics, for example, is taken as blasphemy.

Does it make you impatient? Maybe

Does it make you a bad fan? No

Ange isn’t exempt from criticism, I think most people realise that.

Amen!

I had never even heard of his name like year ago. I was not the fan of appointment at the time.
But I love Tottenham Hotspur. And he brought back excitement around the club. He won me over.
I am absolutely sure, there are many other like me. Who might have not been convinced once he was appointed, but who by now have realized, that he is a good manager.

This is actually precisely opposite of "cult" - when proven wrong, I changed my stance instead of hanging on to some dogma that everyone at every time have to attest to blindly.

So shove this "cult following", "Ange fanboys" etc bullshit up your ass. It is OK to support the manager of your beloved club also when results don't go our way.

I am also fully in the boat that Ange has to improve how the team is set up and how we approach the game mentally. For example I feel that recently our players go out on the field like we'd start the game 4:0 up. And this is unacceptable. In Wolves game we conceded from their corner AND our corner (!) without out best recovery-pace player nowhere to be seen. It has to be fixed.
We did not take on Wolves defenders on the wings to create space. It has to change.
We almost never even tried to play an early ball into the box before there were 5-7 Wolves players already there and ready to kick the ball out again.

All those things were shit in this game. But that does not mean we should sack the manager ffs.
How short is the fuse on some of posters here, I don't understand.

Indeed.

The whole season will not only have been a leaning curve for the players but for the manager too. He's building his vision, his team and every single week, these players are being analysed and tested. We'll see in the summer who's passed that test.

This very much...... Can't emphasise this enough; particularly in term of our attacking players.

One thing we should be thankful for though is how perfectly suited Porro & Udogie have proved to be however (talk synergy all you want; but inverted FBs wouldn't have been on the radar when they were purchased)... Recruiting for such specialist positions at this level could have proved quite the ball-ache (it's also why it's silly to take for granted the idea of being able to find virtually as good back-ups and why so readily bemoaning Davies & Emerson last weekend was way off the mark).

There's a difference between Spurs fans who support the manager and people who have never supported Spurs and found their way here because he did.

We all found ourselves here somehow..... If Ange is their gate-way to Spurs so be it.

CroSpurs CroSpurs is the perfect antidote to your mentality. (Modric, Kranjcar & Charlie are long gone, but try telling him he's a lesser fan......?)

Similarly; after Son leaves/retires some (inevitably not all) SK-based fans will remain as Yido's too.

Its about respect. The man hasnt been at the club for two seconds and he’s giving a starry eyed speech about his achievements and future whilst refusing to rule out a direct question about leaving for another named club and that it’s “out of his control” and that he “still has a season to see out with us”

WTF HES BEEN HERE FIVE MINUTES 😂😂

Its grotesque. He hasnt even achieved anything at Spurs yet. I hope he does. But I just think he needs to reel it in a bit, the whole media darling thing is a bit nauseating. He could have just said no instead of trying to be cute.

10-15 years ago if a manager behaved like that the fans response would be different but obviously we have become a beaten submissive bunch these days

Put it this way, if Ange was Liverpool manager and the interviewer asked him about links to Spurs, what do you think his response would have been? Have a feeling it would have been a bit different.
Why have you got the word Chill in your name?

I wish folk would fuck off with all this “no plan B” bullshite. Pep and Klopp don’t have one. Pep and Klopp (and LegoHead) took longer than 7 fucking months to sort their teams out. Yeah we’ve looked a bit shit in 2024 but it’s a lot better than the shit we’ve been served up for years. And no HK.

Quite a few on the train last night who were very much Ange Out.
Way too early for that, but he does need a plan B.

I could have told him that Royal and Davies couldn't do the same job as Porro and Udogie.

I don't understand this insistance that there is only one way to play football. Surely, the best managers mix it up?

Work on drawing the other team out and not getting exposed at the back.

We lack guile and footballing nouse. I see very few intelligent footballers in our setup.

That's just not true. Pep has gone to Anfield and played with a low block on more than one occassion.

Agreed.
Due to our good start ,it has led some to get ahead of themsleves where our football is concerned ,me thinks.
Now i detest the expression, but... This was always going to be "transitional season".If we are still here in 12 months time, then maybe some of the moaning will be a tadge more justified.

Personally , i think he is the best thing to happen to this club for at least 5 seasons.

It's nothing new, people are always urging managers to change their philosophy when they are still building their team and they are always wrong:

There's two issues here. I back Ange fully and think we will have to accept he won't do pragmatism. I think we could have tucked Emerson in yesterday bolstered the midfield and drawn Wolves on. We'd have nicked a point or even three. I am also sure Ange knows this. Udogie and Porro are more central to making Angeball work than most anyone else...BUT he's making a point it's macro not micro for him and at this stage ( unpalatable though this is ) he'd rather lose this way than win the 'wrong way' . He's trying to get 100% buy in.

The other point about our general creativity, beyond Udogie and Porro creating space and Maddisons forward passing, has been one I've been pointing too for a few years now. It's why I'm adamant about not signing Gallagher. We need to recruit with an eye toward the highest technical footballers we can get , our squad lacks flair, it lacks player who can face up an oponent and trick them. The wide forward need to be better and so do the the central midfielders. Too many artisans not enough artists.

Mate, you've had the usual suspects on here pick up on that, then weaponise it against other posters in here.

Carrie is spot on, there's no need for the nastiness, but it's as I've been saying for a while, for some posters on here, it's more about using a situation to carry out their personal feuds with those they don't like.

AP is just another excuse to carry out their attacks.
