At which point do the players take responsibility?

People love to peddle out the Conte video where he says as much.

I think last night was finally the night where Ange has had enough with some of them. The board HAVE to back him and get rid of the players he doesn’t want and bring in those he does

(PSA: I’m trying to stay away from the forum, I can’t be dealing with the toxicity. I just wanted to add some thoughts)

He's still playing the players though isn't he? Play the kids. Prove a point.

ange is in his 50's has coached the same way all the time, Do any of you think that he will change ?
even if you think set plays aren't important after letting in 14 goals from set pieces why would you make a poimt of saying set pieces don't matter (that is just mad, dont say anything about them to the press)

Doesn't need to change. We have low confidence and any team struggles in that place.

But the squad also lack a proper srriker and midfield bite.

We are not full of poor players but we have hit a brick wall and concede too easily.

I am not saying Postecoglou has suddenly got it so wrong but I do think there was maybe a sense that beating Villa was job done for 4th.

It's not chronic and we are lucky that the season will soon end. It's hard to explain how so many players have gone off at the same time so it's happened.

It's now a matter of what Postecoglou has learned.

He seemed defeated last night but at least maybe accepting that his way isn't working.

Since he joined our signings have been Johnson, Radu, Veliz, Van de Ven, Werner and Phillips. What evidence is there to suggest it would be a good idea to give him "his" players?

Good post.

You need to be on the forum to offer balance. And yes, players do have to take some responsibility (not please by going public with pointless apologies) especially those who Postecoglou lauded earlier in the season.

Then in the summer Postecoglou has to think, when we are back in the trenches who of you will stand up....

No manager can survive losing every week. That’s the reality.

Principles are all well and good and the best managers are stubborn just like Ange, but winning games is still the most important thing.

We are finding it extremely difficult to beat even the bottom feeder teams, it shouldn’t be this hard. Even in the stuttering early days of Klopp/Arteta/Pep, they had plenty of routine wins and clean sheets. We are having to sweat blood till the last second just to beat Luton at home and we let literally everybody score easy goals against us. If it doesn’t change then it will only end one way. We are supposed to get better as time goes on, not worse.
Although i'm as disappointed as anyone by our form lately, i think we need perspective.

We're not losing every week, we are 5th in the PL, the best league in the world.

And we have had a freak of a season. With almost all of our best players out with long term injury's. And everyone bar Micky hasen't returned from injury's on the same form they had before.

And with so many players out for long periods, some of our guys have had to play a serious amount of games this season. Look at Sarr, how many games has he played this season? And he's just a lad.

I think a lot of our players are absolutely knackered! I think it shows! And they have also had to adapt to Ange's system, which demands top physics.

As i've said on numerous occasions, and when it happened. That first Chelsea game killed our season. We haven't been able to get back after that. And now we look absolutely knackered at the moment.

So Ange shouldn't go anywhere, he should be totally backed.

Poch had a shit starting squad lol, it’s not even comparable.
I agree with you but then what kind of top club sells their club record striker and doesn't even replace him?
I'm not trying to make excuses for Ange as the last few months have been shocking - If we get someone else in now then next season is another write off - As a gambling man I'm hoping with a few additions Ange proves that the start of the season wasn't a fluke - If he doesn't then he is gone by Christmas regardless , we need to stop being so Knee jerk with managers and actually give them time otherwise we will be here again in a years time doing the same again.

We've played 37 games mate. The least in the PL. We shouldn't be knackered.

This is crazy.

Chelsea had more injuries last night than we had all season. We also played BY FAR the fewest games out of the top teams. BY FAR.

How are they tired?

By the way, they just had a TWO WEEK REST.

These excuses are out of control.

If our players are knackered now then we may as well give up on next season already, we have hardly played any games this season. We have had multiple two week breaks without playing. City and Liverpool can complain about tiredness, not us.

We have won 1 game against a top half team in 2024. ONE. There’s no excuse.

Even if you are Ange out it changes nothing, we have had 2 world class managers here who failed to achieve a trophy, the best we can hope for now is that we get lucky with some Transfers in the summer and Ange proves that the start of the season wasn't a Fluke and we reproduce that form next season!
To give Ange credit I think with the right players his system works - Look how many chances we had against the goons! We also don't seem to concede many from open play, Change the manager now and we start again and then how long do we give the new guy?
Its just a shame that a massive club like Spurs have to hope they get lucky with some transfers to be able to compete!
How do we stop conceding goals from set pieces if the coaching team don't think its a problem ?
who comes in to play an defending role to stop goals, if every ones running forward ?
where do we find a king of the 6yd box for all these tap ins ?
its this system that needs to change playing with just 2 fast CB's and everyone else having to run back and commit fouls to stop them playing leads to free kick That should lead to the coaches woprking on defending free kicks/set plays, But Big Ange says that won't happen here mate (sacked himself in one statement)

Vicario
Porro - Romero - VDV - Udogie

You have to wonder what Tuchel, Emery, Nagelsmann or any tactical coach could do with this defense.

Ange just ships goals in left and right, 2 per game and 22 from set pieces or whatever the number is now up to.
Yes, he certainly has to tweak things för next season, that's for sure.

But look at that backline, seriously both Porro and Udogie are bloody awful defending to be fair!

And a lot of our problems also relates to our central defensive midfield, not only the back 4.

I don’t think Ange disagrees that set pieces are a problem, they clearly are. He just doesn’t want it to define the team and become a mental block (which it already has).

We just have much bigger problems. Having 70% of the ball and being unable to threaten the goal is far more concerning than the way we defend set pieces.

There's clearly tough truths on both sides of the argument on this. Rock and a hard place yet again. But just for once, see this though. Stay with the guy, find the players who buy into his philosophy and hope to fuck he sorts out our technical deficiencies. The players might buy in more if he doesn't leave us looking like skittles when set pieces are in play.

Tired? Same players letting us down again? Come on this is a new team, Vicario, Udogie, VDV, Johnson, Maddison all new to the team. Porro been with us 6 months when Ange came in, Sarr had hardly played. Also Werner and Dragusin. Other than VDV all have regressed throughout the season.
