No they didn’t.

Losing to wolves, Villa and West Ham at home and throwing away wins at Everton and wolves did. We should have an extra 14 points right there. Do you not remember being almighty pissed off at the West Ham games for instance?

It was during and after those games that I knew we were going to fuck the season up in terms of finishing position.
Obviously you're naïve when comes to league football, bless you. If you assess like the above then we should've won the league. Every team has ups and downs during a season, that's pretty normal.
What really matters is how you finish, the last 10 games or so defines a season, look at City. It is called "sprint finish". The league is marathon and finish is sprint, hope you get it, mate!
In our case, we laboured in the last 10 games, hence missed on top 4.

No. But Deloitte definitely is a reliable source. Who's figures I posted just a few pages back, mate.

This gives good insight. I like this one (Swiss Ramble)

A year or so out of date, but I think we're still on about the same mark. Possibly even down to low 40's so I believe.
Does this include players and staff or just players?
Yeah. Remember in press conference last year had a little snipe at us saying united can easily go out and buy a 30 year old casimeiro. Conte and di zerbi both prima donna managers.

I simple asked how many games have we controlled and won convincingly this season?
What you actually asked was how many games have we controlled from the first minute to the last this season, which is of course absurd.

If you're gonna be pedantic and call others out for saying things like we've dominated all the games we've won, then maybe, I don't know, refrain from setting ridiculous and impossible parameters like controlling or dominating games for full 90 minutes?

Apart from that, the general point about controlling games is fair because you're right that it is something we can improve. Typically improvement in that area is seen in Ange's teams over time, however I appreciate that controlling matches with Celtic in Scotland can be different than doing so in the Premier League, so let's see.

What is also clear though is that it's not even predominantly about control at this stage. Throughout our recent terrible run of form against some really strong opposition, for the most part we were still actually able to control decent portions of most of those games.

What percentage of the match did Man City, the best team on the planet who had 100% motivation to win the game against us control? 50% would be charitable. 40%?

In terms of general play (outwith the goals obviously) we had the better of it in the first half against Woolwich as well, and we certainly controlled huge swathes of the second half.

So considering how badly those games went, ultimately there are bigger issues currently at play than control. Man City, Woolwich and Liverpool have developed over years (and numerous transfer windows) and are simply much better in the key details of the game than us at the moment, whether it be mentality, taking chances, not giving away cheap goals and so on. I'm one of those who thinks that taken as a whole this season has shown promise, but I'm not kidding myself that we don't have a long way to bridging that gap to the top 3.

One thing that gets ignored when the whole 'Ange has been found out' narrative gets thrown around, is that this is a team and the implementation of a system in its infancy. It's not a simplistic case of manager comes in, teams struggle to deal with it, they eventually figure it out and then that's it, forever.

Whether people ultimately think Postecoglou will be successful or not (and of course that can be up for debate - turning a success starved club around is difficult and far from a given, as previous managers could attest) what he is is a project manager and similar projects weren't completed in one season. He touched on it in his press conference when he was talking about foundations and how certain things aren't fully embedded in the team yet. This isn't the finished product.

What he said is correct: if we hadn't lost to Wolves x2, West Ham and Villa or drawn against Everton - or just had some combination of positive outcomes in this matches- we would have made top 4 and neither a sprint finish, a crawl finish or any type of finish would have altered that.

City win leagues because they finish strong, sure. But they put themselves in position to do that by what they do over the course of a full season.

We didn't... [SPOILER ALERT] We lost!

Don't tell me, you left early??

I loved his press conference yesterday; it made me love him more and I totally understand how he felt in terms of integrity. He obviously calmed down quite a bit for the presser yesterday. I think there has been some misunderstanding in the feeling of Tottenham fans though, and it was annoying how Charlie or someone did not bring it up in the press conference. At least for me, wanting Tottenham to lose does not mean I want the manager or the team to not fully apply themselves for the win. In fact, if they did, I would want Ange sacked immediately.

Anyway big love to the big man. We have a bright future together. 💜💜💜

If everything Ange said at the Press Conference is true, then we'll win today, comfortably... because he ALWAYS plays to win!

I get that, and against stronger opposition, merely 'playing to win' doesn't always guarantee you DO win (as Man City, Woolwich, Chelsea proved) fair enough.

...but against lesser opposition, which - with all due respect - Sheffield Utd ARE... if we PLAY to WIN, then surely we WILL!

Plenty you can add to this list if we're being honest.

Brighton at home. Rubbish first half, better start to the second until Ange made a bunch of subs on minute 60 which completely wrecked our flow (a consistent theme). After that we were outplayed until we scored with that last minute breakaway goal which saved our blushes.

Everton at home we were very lucky to get the three points. Last minute Vicario save off the line, they were well worth the point.

Bournemouth at home, comprehensively outplayed the entire first half. Really dire stuff.

Burnley in the cup we were shite, saved by that Porro long ranger.

Even witht he players back we've been unconvincing. Forest at home, Luton at home. The recent Burnley game was a basketball match until he moved VDV to left back for the last 15. We consistently give up chances for fun against the worst sides in the league.
Also Vicario in the first 10 games made some amazing point blank saves.

Haven't posted for a while, as a bit pissed off with how the season has ended, especially since the Villa game, and having doubts about Big Agnes now, but we can't keep changing managers, and he's got a bit of credit in the bank from the start of the season, so think we should see how next season goes after another, hopefully good, transfer window.
As for the game last Tuesday, I was hoping for a good performance and maybe a goal, and just wanted the best team to win based on form and league position! 😉
My kid has tennis lessons, and the coach is a Woolwich fan, he's OK and we have a bit of banter, but he said if it was the other way round, he'd have wanted Woolwich to lose too, so it's not just our fans that think that way.
Anyway, lets hope for a good game and a few goals today to finish off the season, and lets win the Europa next season 😁 COYS
