Sarr is garbage now?

I’ve seen people get irrational with Johnson but Sarr is a new one
That's a bizarre claim to make, but I do reckon he's also somewhat over hyped by us.

If he can increase his attacking output then he'd be worth the level praise, but at the moment it's like having an incredible athlete in the middle but he can't shoot and has no eye for a pass, all of his technical attributes are ok (certainly not terrible at anything) but nothing to shout about.

In a side where your creative players are on it he's a great player to have in the side, when those creative players aren't on it, his technical deficiency becomes more evident/grating.

But I don't think it's anything that he can't improve on.

Would it be fair to say the crappy performances towards the end of season is reflective of the workload the squad did during the period with injuries and the lack of depth? A bit of burnout?

He has an eye for pass.

Technically much better than you are making out,

Still young but the ceiling is absurd IMO.

History has proven the first year under Ange is a roller coaster. He does a clean out, starts building the squad and changes the way the teams play. It’s a massive mind fuck for the players, club and supporters alike. Season 2 is generally when it clicks. Have faith everyone. Next season will be nuts!
Has history ever shown any of his teams start well then fall off a cliff? Because that's what happened this season. For me, the reverse, with the same points outcome would have been more encouraging for next season.

Not really. Out of the cups early and no Europe. Many of the players filling in aren't even internationals so probably had a break for each international break. Quite why we looked dead on our feet with so few games to play is baffling to me. I wouldn't even say out style of football is particularly labour intensive. It's not like the Poch days when we'd be doing intensive training all week and then absolutely hound the opposition off the ball for 90 minutes. Or even like the Conte days where he had them running to the moon and back to be fitter than the opposition and able to function for 90 minutes.
If anything, I'd say he seems more like Mourinho, who by all accounts, wasn't fussed about fitness and just hoped individual talent would pay off.

Never seen anyone say he’s the finished article

Pretty much everyone talks about the player he could be. And that is scary good
Based on?

He's all just physical attributes right now, it's not a bad thing but it requires a very specific midfield set up to make anything useful out of it.

You claim he's not over hyped but then you're saying he could become "scary" good, there is the hype! He doesn't have any stand out technical attribute, if he can develop one or two then he might indeed be bone chillingly good one day, but then, you could claim that about many a young player...

Thought he was fantastic yesterday he most definitely has an eye for a pass - agree his shooting could do with improving and be stronger in a tackle but he is still improving and fully deserves the plaudits he has been getting

I think he's pretty good technically and way more than just physical attributes.

the cross to Maddison vs Villa, the diagonal to Brennan on the lW before the 1-2 with Maddison. He does impressive things technically every game, i think people miss it because the athleticism is the easiest thing to see.

They are flashes but with time I think they will be consistent and that's why I say his ceiling is scary. I think he was shortlisted on FIFA's Golden Boy list at least once, maybe even twice. The back injury and AFCON disrupted his season a bit this year.

lol

He's a poor man's Conte. His second season with Brighton was exactly like Conte's second season with us and at Chelsea. His patterns have been found out and all he can do is blame other people for it.
As many points as Sean Dyche’s Everton (when you factor in points deduction).

But also, second best league finish ever and last season was a massive over performance. I rate him.

Yeah, cause Ange's system wasn't found out and brutally exploited repeatedly this season.

And we lost Kane.
They lost Mac Allister, Caicedo, Sanchez this season, and Bissouma, Cucurella and Trossard the season before.
Given they've lost so many starting 11 players in his 2 seasons, he's done well keeping them up let alone into Europe and comfortable.

They won 4 games in the entire second half of the season.

I'm just not seeing it. I'm not sure if getting as many points as Everton who went 3 months without a win is anything to be proud of either.

It was their first season in Europe and they got to the knock out stages. It's really common for teams in that position to fall off a cliff in the 2nd half of seasons.

Forgive me, Nutter, this isn't about you, it's about the tweet format and content.

Seeing these always makes me pause: "Someone made [content] and it's [special in some way]". To paraphrase: 'other person did something and I don't know who, but it's special AND mysterious'.

Except it's neither. It's obviously the same person. Or their mate. And it's not special, it's shit. Music is shit, narrative is non-existent, no context, development or emotional impact at all, just a collage of isolated moments with no form or editorial overview. It's lazy.

Of course, if 'someone' is the handle for a special needs kid who's a spurs fan and overcame tremendous hardship to express himself creatively, then I'm the asshole.

But now everything is getting the same algo-friendly format, it's hard to see the flowers for the weeds.

NOTE: I'm hungover/sun-struck and grumpy. I reserve the right to find something nice to say about it later.
