If he isn't hammering home to the board our need for a top winger then he will never succeed.

Green lighting Werner is a huge red flag in itself
I do worry how highly he rates the likes of Werner & Johnson. It kind of matches his very simple straightforward outlook on football. It’s not very deep or intricate.

First time the doubts are creeping in, if we can’t sort out these game management issues it’s a terminal issue for his tenure. Last year it was okay considering the focus was on getting comfortable playing a pressing, front footed, possession based style. Can’t regularly happen in year two though.

But we can’t be this brittle, it’s clear as day we’re not playing a style that’s tenable to win regularly in the Premier League. It’s far too loose.

Reminds me a lot of Redknapp, though Ange is obviously a much more endearing personality. It looks good when it’s working but is such a house of cards. And Ange doesn’t have the luxury of the best midfielder of his generation pulling strings for him.

Concerning overall.
Agree with most of that but Rekdkapps sides were much more stable, we did keep clean sheets and were nowhere near as flaky and naive in pretty much every game. His sides were better to watch too.

Redknapp played more cohesive football, tho.

Free and attacking but still relatively balanced.

The way we play - and being in the prem, especially - demands that we have excellent quality in the final third to capitalise on our high-risk attacking strategy.

We have average-good quality there, tho.

So the chances of the whole thing working are very, very slim imo (to win anything).

That's even without the inherent flaws in the system, overall.

Ange is as stubborn as they come, so things just don't look good tbh.

I fucking pray the lightbulb goes on for him and he adjusts accordingly.

It’s over-structured and over-coached .

It’s predictable and therefore containable by even mediocre sides

It worked in Australia / JPN / Scotland ; it’s proven

But ; I’ve got a horrible feeling it won’t work here . ( Better minds , better players etc ) .

I am really, really, really hoping that I’m proved wrong.

There really is no variation to his tactics or his style of play.

It’s just commit men forward, hopelessly kick it out wide to untalented players to try and create something, slowly but surely commit defenders a bit too far, and then get countered. Goal.

We do play lovely stuff through build up at times and I do think he’s let down by the lack of quality up front but it’s the exact same story every match. That’s the issue with him, everyone in the country all knows what we’re going to do and what’s going to happen.
I really do think this narrative of Angeball being a great watch is a myth.

It's very boring at times.

A lot of harmless possession and you spend the whole time waiting for the turnover and the opponent to score. Add on top of that having to watch Son and Johnson fall over themselves or kick the ball into the opponents shin over and over again.

Is that supposed to be fun?

I think Redknapp was way better than Ange!

Absolute chaos when this team has to defend and so vulnerable after conceding.

I do think attacking wise, with the youngsters, there will be good football to watch. But this just wont work long term. Im not sure if others notice this as well… Ange has done nothing here I have to say… once the opposition receives and develops a counter attack: There is no shape. There is no formation. No tracking back.

In my opinion Bissouma is the only viable player to cover and support the backline. And his form has been bad for months now. The other midfielders are not suited for that role. Time and time again its so easy to counter because its a clusterfuck of players running back, missing out on the ball, losing their man, its so so so disjointed. Or am I missing something?

I genuinely think if he would adapt and just tweak it a little bit we would be so much better. The current approach is too reckless. We will get pumped at the big away games if he doesnt change this

I actually think Angeball works as a strategy if you have great wingers... Son is on/off while Johnson has been nowhere near good enough. Kulu also not a winger in his system.

This window was key to getting in the right players for his system, but we've blown it.

Half the forum laughed at me when I said he’ll be sacked by Christmas. People forget just how badly we ended last season. Ange is way out of his depth in this league. We seriously need to start considering who our next manager is going to be because it’s going to happen a lot sooner than people realise

We were all over them first half. Loads of missed chances. Someone on Sky at half time said we "completely destroyed" them. All the time I knew what was gonna happen.

Bored to fuck of it now.
