Don't want to get involved in a row about this but generally they have been better than us for a long time ,we may have finished ahead of them in the league for a few years but won nothing so that takes away the gloss a bit .I am not just talking about their present manager who has won a cup with them but the previous manager as well who did buy well but also paid top wages something we can't or won't do .
Won't do is the answer.
The biggest clubs normally have the best players because, they pay the best wages.
The only club in the top ten richest clubs list that doesn't win anything at any time is Tottenham.
That isn't a coincidence, that award the club won today would make levy more happy than if the club won the league(which it never will)

Oh not trying to row at all mate, just trying to understand.

Of course they were able to attract better talent under Wenger - especially at his peak - but in his last few years as manager there and under the managers since - they have barely purchased a top-level player.

Lets take a look at Wenger's last few years as manager. Two top players in 4 years - maybe 3 in the last 10.

14/15 -

Sanchez - top-player
Chambers
Welbeck

15/16
Chec - Top player in his prime but not at time of purchase
Elneny

16/17
Xhaka
Mustafi
Holding

17/18
Aubamayang - top player
Lacazette
Mkhytarian

Gone by Oct, gone by Christmas, gone by New Year. Lol at some of the fans' wish list.

When the new manager comes, the angst will be back to Levy again for not signing the right manager and not backing him.

New manager resets the team to his players, take another 1-2 seasons to bond, fans got impatient again.

And the cycle repeats.

We finally seem to have a plan and a structure and some fans want Ange sacked for drawing an away game

If we sack him we have to start all over again from scratch with a new manager that wants his own players in, so pointless

We need to stick with Ange and we’ll be so much better off in a couple of years if we do

Up to Ange to convince fans that that won't be the case.

Not unreasonable to make those predictions knowing how intransigent he is and not seeing anything significantly change from latter half of last season (including pre-season -Bayern - and first game).

He needs to show he has the chops to navigate us in the prem.

Not convinced thus far.

And he really needs to have a good start to the season.

Done a LOT of talking.

And Bladcunt has actually stumped up cash and he's green lit all these signings (if we're to believe what he says about having the final say).

Maybe don't accuse the fans of not wanting to win and get your own act together is what's needed here, from Ange.

This fanbase don't have the stomach for a process.

I am amazed we're 14 months in and people still don't really understand or have a grasp of Ange's philisophy.

He's a manager who what's to win by scoring lots of goals.

There's a reason he repeatedly said we needed to upgrade our front line (despite scoring more goals last season than we have in 40 years) and not our defensive line.

He'd have been more annoyed by the fact we didn't score more than 1 than he would have been over conceding a goal to Leicester. In fact, I doubt he even cared too much about conceding, more that we couldn't punish them.

We take our chances in that first half and it's a different game. Leicester probably cower into their shell further to prevent a total humiliation and we score more or just control it.

This is what we've signed up for with Ange. People aren't going to like it because it's "too open" or "we concede too many chances" - indeed. But when we've got the personnel to put away the chances we create, it's a different ball game.

And as mentioned. This is the season you judge. He's got rid of pretty much everyone who cant play his way, or who hasn't bought in and has a squad of players who do.

Leicester was a frustration but that first half was the closest I'd seen to Angeball since early last season (in fact probably ever at Spurs tbh) - it's about making it click now with Solanke getting more used to it and fitting the likes of Odobert in (whos much more suited offensively)

Now it's about getting to a level where you're offence is clicking so well that opponents are almost defeated going into the game. And when we're 1 or 2 up in the first half, they know it's game over.

We're 1 game in to a season where Ange finally has a trusted squad.
We know his philosophy. The problem is will it work in the EPL with our current roster. Yea we should score more than 1 but what if we don't? what is the adjustment? Are we going to play the same way against the big clubs? These questions were asked last season after the Chelsea game and we are still asking them now...How many goals do you think we can score this season? will we concede over 60 goals again this season..etc

I want to hear more than "Its who we are mate"

I really like him as a person, just not convinced what he is trying to do will work in the Premier league.
It worked in weaker leagues, but in this country I think the standard is better, and they can nullify easier.
They all worked out how to deal with our keeper on set pieces, yet we had no answer other than hoping it would stop during the rest of last season.

You see ,it's weird things like that where he just left it for a few games and didn't snuff it out immediately by putting a player in to protect Vic.

Inexplicable.

No manager these days gets 3 years without doing anything though. Doesnt even have to be a trophy but show progression. He deserves a fair crack of the whip at the moment and i think the talk of gone by October or whatever is way off. I mean if nothing else no other manager will leave their club at that stage of the season and the only 3 out of work that spring to mind are Tuchel , Potter and Southgate who are about as appealing as a bucket of puke.

If he wants the rest of this season and next we need to see a decent improvement on the last 6 months. I remember managers here like Gerry Francis who started ok but slowly got progressively worse. He did about 3 years without showing much and it left us in a right state.

Well, it's always down to personnel.

Get him the right personnel and yes it'll work. That's obvious.

If we don't score more than one than the attack has failed. The adjustment would be to do it better.

Will we concede over 60 goals this season? Well without having to play Emerson and Davies at CB, Emerson at RB and LB and even Skipp at LB and a better attack, I would be surprised. Aslong as we keep everyone fit.

Again, there's a reason Ange pleaded for a better front line and not a back line. Because the backline when fit is pretty good and deals with things really well in open play.

When that back five was on the pitch together, the collective results were

1,304 minutes together
10 wins
7 draws
1 loss (Newcastle away)
17 goals conceded in total
10 conceded from open play
7 cleansheets

Dragusin and Spence are already good replacements on having to rely on Emerson and Davies. Though I think we also need left back cover for Udogie now too.

Solanke is a big step in the right direction. And Odobert gives us someone who can beat a man but also go both ways to provide problems for a full back, so much so that if he hits the ground running, he'll likely be getting doubled up on and creating space elsewhere. As it is, players know Johnson isn't going to take them on, so they leave him to it.

We've moved forward this summer by getting rid of those who don't suit and getting in players that do. It can't all be done in one window.

But as mentioned before, this is the season we judge him fully. There's no Emerson to fall back on as an excuse. There's no playing Skipp out of position. There's no having to rely on Hojbejrg etc.

Our players are the problem.
Our team is incredibly average.

In this team coaches are just the scapegoats for a lack of quality within the squad.
