Our team is not average. We are one of the top teams in the EPL.
Average position 4.7 in the last 10 years.
Then why do we simply not win?
We can wishful think through this as much as we want, but the results speak for themselves.

I wish we won more, and I believe if we don't it is because the players are simply not good enough.
They are good, but not good enough to compete until the very end in competitions.

Well, it's always down to personnel.

Get him the right personnel and yes it'll work. That's obvious.

If we don't score more than one than the attack has failed. The adjustment would be to do it better.

Will we concede over 60 goals this season? Well without having to play Emerson and Davies at CB, Emerson at RB and LB and even Skipp at LB and a better attack, I would be surprised. Aslong as we keep everyone fit.

Again, there's a reason Ange pleaded for a better front line and not a back line. Because the backline when fit is pretty good and deals with things really well in open play.

When that back five was on the pitch together, the collective results were

1,304 minutes together
10 wins
7 draws
1 loss (Newcastle away)
17 goals conceded in total
10 conceded from open play
7 cleansheets

Dragusin and Spence are already good replacements on having to rely on Emerson and Davies. Though I think we also need left back cover for Udogie now too.

Solanke is a big step in the right direction. And Odobert gives us someone who can beat a man but also go both ways to provide problems for a full back, so much so that if he hits the ground running, he'll likely be getting doubled up on and creating space elsewhere. As it is, players know Johnson isn't going to take them on, so they leave him to it.

We've moved forward this summer by getting rid of those who don't suit and getting in players that do. It can't all be done in one window.

But as mentioned before, this is the season we judge him fully. There's no Emerson to fall back on as an excuse. There's no playing Skipp out of position. There's no having to rely on Hojbejrg etc.
I like your positive attitude, lets hope it comes to fruition.

I wish we won more, too.
As one of the top clubs in the country we should have won something recently but I am confident we will win something this season.

I mean, I agree with you that we are not average, if by average we mean 10th in the league.
But i just don't think we are good enough , squad wise, to complete with the likes of Liverpool, Woolwich or Man City.

For us to become a winning machine that wins game after game (which is what you need to be to win the league), we need better players. A new coach won't magically do the trick, since they will find themselves with the same limits and squad problems.

Our players are the problem.
Our team is incredibly average.

In this team coaches are just the scapegoats for a lack of quality within the squad.
That’s pretty much the crux of it. A lot of the players that are coming in the door aren’t any better than the ones going out .
Romero , vdv. And maybe Maddison are the only ones that might get into the teams above us . Sadly sonny’s best days are behind him aswell

The Manager’s job is to work with what he’s got and make them successful…

We’ve got ( more than ) reasonably good players in every position ; so that’s where the manager comes in ; to make that crucial difference, between mediocrity and greatness .

I’m pretty sure every manager of an elite club will carp above not having the absolute best 23 players on the planet.

But the very best managers improve individual players and teams and thereby achieve success.

It’s up to Ange to do that , and I suspect he knows that.

I really hope he succeeds .

Won't do is the answer.
The biggest clubs normally have the best players because, they pay the best wages.
The only club in the top ten richest clubs list that doesn't win anything at any time is Tottenham.
That isn't a coincidence, that award the club won today would make levy more happy than if the club won the league(which it never will)
And which club in that list has the most clubs in the same league ahead of them?

While spurs have underperformed in regards to trophies, you are overlooking that Dortmund has 1 team to compete against. Atletico have 2. Spurs have 5.

Fun facts for Eeyores and ice dancing lovers.
We finished 5th last season, just missing out on ECL by 2 points. 2nd highest goals scored since we got promoted and exciting football in most games.
Great new players bought and the likes of Ndombele and Sanchez gone.
Excellent first season for Ange and this season will be better.

Again it's expectation management. I fully expect us to struggle early doors as the turnover in the squad has been monumental. Also expect teenagers like Gray, Bergvall and Moore to get plenty of minutes which will be brilliant for the future but likely to cost a point here and there as inexperience battles natural talent. (moving PEH on is a massive statement that WILL cost us points in the short term but get us to the destination quicker)

I find the prospect of this fascinating and exciting. I KNOW and EXPECT will have a bit of a roller coaster but fully believe will get stronger and stronger as the season goes on (the opposite of how last season panned out)...

I can't understand anyone being this fucking poisonous at this stage of the rebuild. Why? What does it achieve other than misery?

Yes - maybe it doesn't work out. We will know by February. Why not hold off some of the sour bollocks until then? Crazy.

Hope like fuck none of these moaning poisonous cunts come to the South Stand.

Fact of the day:

Ange has spent €430m more than anybody else in the last 13 months! Spurs have only beaten 1 top 10 side since 10th Dec 2023. Spurs have won 4 out of the last 12 league games, all 4 wins were against the bottom 4 teams. Our last 30 games would have us 9th place!
Not true, Chelsea have spent 285m more than us in that time. Also, 8 of the players we brought in that time were U21 when we signed them, so we haven't benefited from signing any of them yet. Context is important.
