Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The general consensus is that Levy expects European football of some description.

Ange will only get the boot if we're still in the bottom half of the table around January. Levy will figure that a new manager boost could see us nab seventh or eighth.
He doesn't generally wait that long to panic though (Nuno, Poch) And Jose got sacked when we were 7th, Conte 4th.

I just cannot see a way Levy allows the League form to last anywhere near January, unless he's hired some sort of zen guru to keep him calm.

Just watched the highlights of the Celtic game on BBC. Free flowing, attacking and enjoyable goals. Passion and pride evident. Frankly I have seen all I need to see from our next manager. A winning manager

I think he looks a bit like he's going through the motions. I suspect despite towing the party line the transfer window has made him think whats the point like a few before him. He probably hoped for Neto, Eze and Gallagher amongst others. Dont think he's upto it anyway tbh but its a common theme in managers in their 2nd season here, let down in the window and then just looking fucked off and waiting for the pay off.

I was complaining about the hire last year, and I thought all the Big Ange hype was over the top. Parts of his personality irritate me. But we've only seen four league games and Spurs have been in all of them and creating more chances than last season. The squad has been turned over and he's brought in (but not used all that much) some really good young players. The ball bounces differently and we've got 9 points instead of 4. Today's match was, in a way, not a surprise. Good teams sometimes trip up and play down to the level of competition they are up against. I need to see more to pass judgment on the manager or the system. If we end the season out of contention for the top four, then it's a conversation. Right now we don't know what we don't know.

This is what I’d like explained to me. There’s many on here that “know for a fact” Levy doesn’t care about winning, especially the cups and especially this one. So why would he sack a manager, who he’d have to pay millions to, for being knocked out of a cup he doesn’t care about winning?
What a mess of a post.

He wouldn't have sacked Ange if we'd got knocked out tonight. He'll sack the manager because the fans are on his back or the prospect of money spinning European football is in jeopardy.

If you think he does care about winning trophies..
a) why don't we ever win any and
b) why sack a serial trophy winning manager 6 days before a cup final and replace him with a bloke who'd never managed a team in his life and
C) Why did 2 managers who've won everywhere else fail for the one and only time in their careers working for Levy

Lucked out tonight. Any decent team would of put us to bed. Hasn't got a fucking clue and looked like he didn't really give a fuck. Let's see how he is when he's up against pep and city seems to be all he cares about.
weekend will be telling. we struggled to get past a B team champo team. we could get tonked at the weekend. if that happens after struggling to get through tonight then he has to go. everyone looks like they are waiting for it to happen now, the joys gone.

There is absolutely no way his system will work at Spurs. It is plain to see. The players have no confidence in it, they don't know what to do. We look so forced and slow. If Coventry had a bit of quality we'd have lost tonight by 5. We were cut open time and again.

I don't like his personality any longer. His demanour on the toucline, he looks so awkward. I like a manager who is more animated. Ange even looks awkward with the players, coaches and backroom staff.

His press conferences are full of waffle.

Have never been so sure about anything after tonight. He's gone, So out of his depth. Just a matter of time now. Just get rid Levy, you fuck.
His face at the end said it all. Hanging on for dear life.

BJ's post match comments were telling when talking about the style of play.

I thought the same. It looked like he knew he was a goner and he'd been saved at the death.

Personally, to me it has the look of resignation, he knows it's not working. There's no way he can be sitting there watching that tripe tonight and thinking he's going to be here much longer. I have no faith we will beat any half decent side under him.

What did BJ say?

He can see his wingers are not able to do what he's asking but he's making no adjustments at all. It's crazy.

He only took Werner off because he was forced to due to injury and Kulu saved the day.

BJ just made a pointed reference to "we play a certain way" when the interviewer asked why the performance was so shit. He didn't sound convinced.

C’mon. Really?

The ‘system’ is one dimensional and flawed. One dimensional because it’s all about inverting FB’s who invariably clog up the MF. Flawed because any coach with a badge knows how to nullify it.

We were countered when Vardy scored. Countered at Newcastle for their winner. Countered by Woolwich which led to their set piece. Countered time and again tonight.

Ange looks and sounds bereft of ideas and inspiration. I think even he knows he’s been rumbled.

I don’t think this is the hill to die on RA. Part of me respects your stance and maybe you are displaying loyalty and patience but I, like the majority on here and at WHL, think the manager is toast - next week, next month. Only a matter of time
Yeah but if we’d scored first as we should have against Newcastle we win it and and we should have had a bigger lead against Leicester. Like RA said that’s lack of execution more than system

Also want to add. Stop being a silly cunt ange and start playing players like spence that is actually showing some desire effort and determination when he plays. Might get more of a tune from hungry willing players rather than sticking to favourites.

Ange left spence out of the EL squad. You have to say that looks like another shocking decision from the fraud. He can't stop making them.

The manager can't change his over arching principles. We don't want a manager that abandons his principles when things are going wrong...

However, Inverted wing backs are not a principle, they're a detail. Focusing nearly all of our play exclusively through the middle is not a principle, but a detail. Players clearly being instructed not to shoot is not a principle.

We're dogmatic to the finer details, not just the principles/philosophy.. Contrast that with a Guardiola, who is constantly evolving and adapting the finer details of his teams.
