Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Spin it all you like mate

The fact is that over a sizable chunk of matches , we have accumulated just 6 points more than perpetual whipping boys/laughing stock Everton and just two more points than a David Moyes managed West Ham

It's grim viewing. Would you not say that 32 matches could be considered a trend ?
No point arguing.

Ange will be gone by the next international break. Things will get worse. Some more fans will wake up, some won't. But he'll be gone.
Last night changes very little. 2 minutes away from going out of the only winnable cup to a lower league team with a performance no better than Nono losing to FC Mura.

Let them defend him. It doesn't matter.

Eventual FA Cup winners Man United were a ball's hair away from going out to Coventry last season. It happens, the important thing is that you progress.

So cheer up pal, wipe those eyes, change out of that soaking wet pair of underpants you've been stuck in for the past 9 months, there's still 4 trophies to play for, let's gooooo!

Unfortunately it seems all managers we get are put in a position where they have to compromise. That begs the question why get uncompromising system managers then wonder why it doesn’t work if the tools are sub standard.

He might have to but it’s not ideal.

That's where I think Ange is a better fit than his predecessors. Managing in salary capped leagues, and managing an Australian world cup squad with severely limited talent, means he's had to get the best from limited resources and has never been able to rely on a brute force cheque book management approach. If anything it's a new challenge for him actually having some serious dosh to splash around.

Gray and Davies would be the back ups, still leaves 1 short. The LCB and RCB play more like defensive full backs in a back 3, it’s the CCB that has to be an out and out stopper so that might make Dragusin the most vulnerable player, Gray will cover Romero, Davies cover VDV in defensive roles, the stopper is the exposed position.
Dorrington is back from injury but like Moore etc probably wouldn't get a chance

Issue you have is we have a bunch of wingers not suited to what we need so whatever system you choose we have no cover. 3-5-2 at least your strongest team is actual very strong unlike 4-3-3 where we have no 1 v 1 winger specialists.

Vicario
Romero Dragusin VDV
Porro Kulusevski Bissouma Maddison Udogie
Son Solanke

Above team would give anyone a game if setup right.
Could also use the way Glasner implements it.

I’d play Richie not Son. But yes. Agree otherwise

And then we get months into playing 3 atb and everyone is claiming it’s rigid and the manager isn’t flexible again. Like under Conte.

Or…. We could have the fortitude and conviction to stick the plan, even though it has challenges right now. And then once the foundation of the team is more stable, we can start building tactical variety and flexibility into things.

Ange has played 3 ATB before and he mixed it up a couple times towards the end of the season last year. He also tweaked things to have the #6 drop into the back 2 more etc
He "mixed it up" against city and that's it. He watched us get cut through with ease in all other games and did absolutely nothing in regards to the formation.

This season the only "mixing up" he's done is play two 8's which works for the most part against low block teams at home. Sadly Ange can't comprehend this and plays it against our biggest rivals thinking it will have the same effect as against fucking Everton.

Good line up but this will involve Ange telling the Fb's to stay on the outside which he is never going to do. Hopefully the next manager will try it though.

how should he have lined up at home to Woolwich then?

We're not winning any fucking trophies ffs.
We'll get absolutely pumelled by a top half PL team.

Still, Ange may not be in charge by then.

So there's that

I've already said this many times. You don't play a single pivot against any decent attacking team: particularly when said team is missing their 2 main central midfield 'runners' and have replaced them with 2 midfielders who can barely jog let alone run AND you're missing you're main defensive midfielder.
