Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Try to read the context of the conversation, Sammy.

He’s talking about how he doesn’t think we can compete for a cup because of the Brighton collapse.
My concern is that Ange was brought in to fortify us mentally - "we never stop" - but all I saw on Sunday was the same sort of weak-minded collapse that we witnessed way back when with the Spam 3-3. It doesn't matter if it's a PL game or a vital cup match; we have to play every game with the same no-surrender mentality otherwise the cracks will remain and the foundation will continue to atrophy when we need it to hold the most. And I don't mean win everything - that's unfeasible - I mean don't give in.

It doesn't matter how good you are, if you cannot maintain a laser-like focus for the duration of the event in hand then you're not going to win jack squat. I'm not seeing evidence that Ange has instilled that in us as yet. I see an improved defence in set pieces and I see some players returning to form. When the football's good, it's beautiful, no question. But when it goes tits up it does so in a very amateurish way and that's what will cost us in the cup competitions unless Ange wakes the players up, adapts during games according to what's going on, and stops standing there like the statue of a soviet bear trainer when it's going wrong. It's not a him and them situation; it's a collective one.

We beat Coventry. (Championship) Just
We beat Brentford (bottom half club)
We beat Man United (bottom half club)
We beat Carrierbag (probably barely championship level)
We beat unspellable team from I don't know where (just, and probably also league 1 level)

And all the fans got hard ons.
The Coventry performance masked just how bad we are at times.
Very lucky to have won, and the team were poor for around 85 mins.
Too many people have their heads in the sand over ange.

If we end up out of Europa league early and finish the season 10th or worse then I can understand calling for his job. Just don't understand it at this point.
I dont think we should be calling for his job right at this moment.. In fact I don't ever really feel comfortable explicitly saying the words "sack him now".

However, in a hypothetical sense... I also don't think you should have to wait for the season to have fallen apart and there be nothing to play for before you think maybe something could be done about it.

We've seen clubs in the past see which way the winds blowing.. Make a change and then win a trophy.

And we've seen other clubs piss a season away delaying the inevitable.

How is it beneficial at all for him to say he’s not happy with the transfer window?

He’d be publicly insulting his players and his boss at the same time.

Sure, it would make you happy but it wouldn’t help Tottenham Hotspur.

If Ange wasn’t happy with the window, I’m sure he’d let Levy know privately. And you’ll just have to accept you’re not privy to that conversation.
I completely agree. I've argued against people taking a managers words at face value for years.
But every fucking transfer window you get tons of people on here using quotes like "I'm happy with the transfer window " at face value to try and justify every shite window that materialises.

Changing the culture and mentality around a club is probably one of the most challenging aspects and it shouldn’t be underestimated how long this can often take.

It’s often one step forward and two back until you’re over the hump and the new mentality becomes ingrained.

I’ve seen it in business before. If I had a pound when asking ‘Why do you do it that way?’ and received the answer, ‘Because that’s the way we’ve always done it!’ 🤬🙄

If it was actually just one result then we wouldn’t be in ninth place. The continued parroting of something very obviously untrue is very weird.

Hey. Welcome back, Yiddo

This really is what I find most alarming about the whole situation.
Take Ten Haag at United. They've won 2 trophies in 2 seasons, sit just a couple of points below us, yet most of their fans are screaming for his head.
The way our expectations have been lowered to sewer levels is absolutely staggering.
You've got people making the argument that this was only a loss early in the league, but heaven help if you try to put any sort of form guide together that doesn't include the first 10 games from last season in it, very odd that, how early season games can be important or not, almost as if people are making excuses for mediocrity.

Of course it is.
So you actually think ETH is popular among United fans. And the majority don't want him sacked.
What planet you on, mate?

What are you basing this on?

How many boos or protests do you hear/see after every match for example? Even after the match against us the fans weren't demanding his sacking.

In fact they've blamed everyone but him up until now.
