Quick look at the history books after 10 games in their 2nd season.
Klopp 23 points. 3rd place. +11GD
Arteta 13 points 14th place. -2GD

You could argue Arteta was a rookie manager. Also covid times which were a bit fucked up for us all.


Same season Arteta was struggling we were top after 10 games and people on here were hailing Mourinho as a genius. With 21 points and +12GD in case anybody gives a shit.
Just a matter of time before he had us winning trophies left right and centre was the general conclusion on TFC.
We all know how that ended up. So take from that what you will about the football knowledge on here.
Or we’d all gone mental due to COVID.



One poster even claimed “if my wife is a 10 then Mourinho is an 11”.
That might be a lie.
 
Benefit of doubt i give to Ange is hes previously managed in pissant leagues. Hes learning the premier league and the different challenges. My mindset is see where we are end of the season. A trophy or two in the cabinet then hes done well. Top 4 great. 5th or below weve not improved and the top brass need to make a call.

I don't know how you can blame Ange for Brighton goals. They were result of individual errors rather than tactics.

Goal 1: Udogie howler with the scuffed clearance.
Goal 2: Udogie again poor in the tackle. Rutter holds him off with ease and finishes well.
Goal 3: Calamity defending. Udogie again with a extremely poor effort. When Rutter brushes him off, Udogie gives up on the play and stops running. Then when the cross comes in Romero switches off and allows Wellbeck to have a free header unchallenged.

These things would of still happened even if Tottenham went to a defensive low block.

Could Ange be proactive with his subs to change the momentum. Maybe, but even if he did haul Udogie off after goal two, i'm still not sure Spence could of dealt with Rutter's physicality. In hindsight Dragusin could of come in and van de Ven goes to left back to deal with Rutter. And maybe we get away with a draw.

He just needed to add fresh legs on earlier that would have helped with the pressing. After all you can make 5 subs. Think we only made 3 and they were all in the last 10 minutes. Have no idea what he thought they were gonna do in the remaining time.

Ange did not do basic Match Management. He saw the momentum tilting, Seagulls coming back, our players tiring but did nothing to reverse the tide. If Udogie is having an off-day - sub him. Ask a player to sit on the backside and put a physio onto the pitch and slow it down or convey a message or 2.
In other words - do something.

Stop blaming Udogie - he looks more like a striker than a defender

since the stadium has been built we have spent money havent we? im not sure on where we rank but we must be right up there? the problem levy has is hes not good at his job and makes poor judgement when it comes to football matters.

levy benefits from the team being successful so its in his interest for us to actually compete. we blew 100m on ndombele and gio who both flopped, that was huge. that was meant to be our allison and VVD moment to take us to the next level. i mean they spent 60 odd million on ndomebele and no one thought to actually vet his personality and character loool. youd think when that sort of money is thrown about that no stone would be left unturned.

It's insane to me anyone thought this; it was obvious Mourinho was getting results that didn't reflect the quality of our play.

Last minute smash and grab wins against the likes of West Brom where we'd been run ragged by Conor Gallagher. Wins against City and Arse doing his usual 'park the double decker' crap.

Blowing leads against West Ham and Newcastle at home, losing to Everton. We'd been crap in his first season too and it was no surprise to me whatsoever we fell apart when we did.

I'd love to see some comments from back then bigging us up as title contenders. Bet you anything it's the usual suspects too, clapping like seals and shouting down the naysayers.

As brailsford said re uk cycling it’s the small margins the 0.001% that makes the diff at top level sport. However what Ange does on the touchline or what other managers isn’t that small it’s a major margin in being able to directly influence how the team plays. He should do it more as we are missing out on the percentages of increasing performance by not going so.

Yeah and in Klopps 3rd season he was like 9th after 9 games with 13 points having just got thumped 4-1 by the mighty Spurs.

What's the point in "learning the Premier league" when you're shit scared to make the tactical/personal changes when needed?
