this idiot has basically just said he deliberately watched us die and cost us 3 points because of the starting players not doing something or other hahaha, can you fucking believe that!

basically he doesnt have any football acumen and doesnt know what the fuck to do once things start slipping. hes proven this over and over when he does finally make subs. 3-2 and he brings on sarr and bissouma hahahahah.
What do you have to say for yourself now Davey boy?

Well, I think he should have discussed it with him. A major star player coming back from injury and he doesn't discuss how long he might stay on the pitch. Seems very strange and weird. And Son had every right to be surprised like he was.

ps Being a boss does not mean bossing people around, though that distinction falls on deaf ears for many many.

It really doesn't matter. Son can be surprised all he likes, he's a player just like the other 10, and Ange is free to sub him off if he feels it serves the team.
Should he have discussed it before with Son? Probably. But that's assuming Ange is telling the truth about the sub being fitness related, and is not just trying to protect Son's ego.

Perhaps it totally doesn't matter as you say. After all, Son is now 32 years old. And it is not like he could be pried away from Tottenham so that treating him like any other player is probably fine as you say.

Treating Son like that might actually serve to get the best out of him during his final stages at the club. Keeping him disgruntled and just like any other player might provoke him into greater efforts.

Another case of Ange being damned whatever he does.

The incorrect behaviour in this scenario belonged to Son.

I don't care if Ange didn't talk to him about it. He doesn't have to.

In the press conference pregame he said he’s not an arm around the shoulder manager and doesn’t need to talk to his players all the time. If that’s how he is then fine, Son should understand.

Interestingly I was listening to Joe Hart talking about Son and he said he’s a wonderful player and person, however, his Achilles heel is that he’s too emotional. The highs are too high and the lows too low. I thought this quite revealing generally and makes a lot of sense considering his time with us and how we see him being a streaky goal scoring player.

Basically he needs to get on with it. Makes me think though that he’s not the best choice for captain if this is the case.

Our criticism over the past few managers has been their " reluctance " to change up selections and have the "undroppables ". He didn't disrespect Son, he managed him. There is now serious competition for spots and that should be a positive.

No one is bigger than the badge. And by the way, how do you dismiss the fact that he said " Sonny was never going to play more than 55 mins". He has subbed Madders mid game. Oh and if history is anything to go by, I have yet to see a player under Ange say that he felt disrespected by Ange. He will make the calls he sees fit, and will be judged by the results. Sonny has mentioned many times how he views the gaffer and his respect for what he is trying to accomplish.

At the end of the day, it's his job on the line. Seems for some he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

Son could be 27 and in his prime. Kane could still be in here and banging them in. I don't give a shit.

It's Ange's job on the line.

If he tells Son he's not coming off until 75mins and during the match has a thought that changes that, then Son needs to suck it up!

I love Son but I'm sick of players getting away with shit while manager after manager gets endless grief and then the boot.

Son should have behaved. He knows there are cameras constantly on him in the stadium. He's supposed to be a leader.

He has a reputation for keeping himself at arms distance from his players. At Celtic he ate alone for example. Matt O'Riley made a comment about the distance he keeps from the players. Postecoglou has said in his formative years he had to cut a close friend for the squad, which he found difficult, and this his way of not letting anyone cloud his judgement.

Yup, I hear what all you guys are saying. To me it makes total sense as long as nobody can pry Son away from Tottenham. And him being 32 now I think that chances of that are low. And where could he even go? What better place than Tottenham could he find at this stage of his career? So I think Ange is totally fine with his approach.

and some are still finding something to have a go at the manager for
Yes that was me. And I think I did it because I personally think that Son is the best player at Tottenham. And I didn't really mean it as a go at the manager. I meant it more as a support for Son who is 32 now and who's been at the club for quite a while. And perhaps deserves a bit better treatment. It's his 10th year at the club. But that could very well be my own personal take and opinion that nobody agrees with.

We’ve just won 4-1 against the team at the top of the champions league and some are still finding something to have a go at the manager for. Fuck Sonny if he’s not happy about coming off.

Seems to be a lot of anger in here this morning.
I don’t think people meditate enough.

You clearly just want to cuddle Big Ange. It’s a safe space here. You can admit that.

Anyway back to business. Fuck you for saying fuck Sonny!!!!
:sonmask:

Man deserves your respect. Been here a decade and still gets annoyed when substituted. I want that passion in my players.

He is 32 and just back from an injury , players want to play but they don’t always know what’s best for them . We have a shed load of games and nursing him back makes sense , at least to me . Son is the consummate professional, he will soon put it behind him

Totally agree. He's 32, has been a great player, and has gone missing in lots of games too (not yesterday). Ange is the boss. No favours that are sub-optimal to the team's performance.

Nice to hear his name being sung in the stadium yesterday.

Also nice to see that despite us being ‘not interested in defending’, ‘amateur tactics’ etc etc we have conceded the same number of goals as ‘best defence in the league’ Woolwich.

We are also the top scorers in the league.
