Yep, makes sense.

So am I whilst being able to acknowledge it's prolonging the inevitable and wasting another season under this manager.

Not really, unlike some, I'm willing to back my opinion whether we win or lose the odd game because I can see and have seen the trend under an out of his depth manager.

You seem to see yourself as some sort of intellectual for the level of discourse to be found on a football forum so I'll ask you, does this win give you faith in this manager despite all the evidence to the contrary?
What ridiculous argument all along. The inevitable? Ffs. So you can see the future? Please tell me you can, because it hilarious you chose to believe we can't progress under Ange who have all the metrics to back him up, but yet chose to believe we could progress better under (insert name here) who hasn't happened.

Just state you are a Ange hater more than a Spurs supporter in your signature, honestly. Your personal detest for him is so much easier to put your posts in context than trying to argue your way out against us who are trying to enjoy the win last night.

The pleasing thing about today, is in big moments, there is evidence that we as a collective (Ange, and each athlete) can do it. Moments matter and today was a big moment, and spoke about cohesion and unity. Personally, I think it's galling that some would consider players win 'in spite' of their manager.

It's such a long season, such a very very long season, and fatigue will impact again. Ipswich was painful, for sure. The squad is still learning, still improving, still refining.

For those who have waited so long for success, any blip in a linear trajectory towards silverware must feel stressful, and is interpreted as evidence that Ange - because he's from a backwater that is Australia, is that he is not up for it. He just has to work doubly as hard to get optics right for those supporters that like to pick holes.

The evidence is that we are trending in the right direction.

The question I ask myself as a supporter though is, what evidence do I need from where we were 1.5 seasons ago, that we are headed in the right direction? And how long would I reasonably expect to give a manager to solidfy a game plan and how many transfer windows is appropriate?

IMO Currently, we are about half way there.

So what was different about our set up against City? Was it not defending on the halfway line and picking our moments to slice through them? Was it getting Kulu, Maddison, Sarr and Bissouma/Bentacur into the same team? Whatever Ange tweaked, it worked perfectly - I just hope he sticks with it.

This is something to get behind whether the naysayers like it or not, the losses and lack of consistency are certainly frustrating though, put it this way if be more concerned if we were 3rd but scraping wins and getting lucky in games putting us in a false position ala Conte's 2nd season.

Suggest you guys just buckle up, drop the silly agenda and get used to a full season of Ange ball.

We looked excellent yesterday and I'm glad the single pivot is gone and probably never to be seen again.

We need to show consistency and not throw that hard work away by losing to Fulham/Bournemouth now. Also we can't just allow Romero to walk back in the starting eleven as we looked solid with Dragusin and Davies.

I'm still an Ange out guy, we have had a Very good win
but it doesn't cover up the downsides for me
Who do you think would do a better job , playing decent football whilst wanting Levy as his boss ?

Not having a pop , I just can’t think of someone . Remember Ange was some way of first choice , Levy got told to jog on a few times . I see no reason if we sack Ange why we are more attractive all of a sudden , if anything we become even less attractive.

I admit to being an Ange deserves time supporter

Well thats how I view it mate and thats why I'm still more than happy to give Ange time. I'll judge him when our results stagnate into a more consistent sample base other than a really good win followed by a bad loss. Hard to judge the progress when the results are so inconsistent. Thats just my opinion
Agree to some extent. Results and performances like Ipswich and palace is what I am complaining about mostly. We can play good when allowed. What we need to do is find different ways to win and have the belief we can win even when playing badly. After win over city players should be buzzing and can’t wait for next game. We had this before and next game we were a damp squib. They need to go into next game knowing they can beat anyone. Further that if they are not playing they still have that belief.

Why would we never see it again?

Surely it's just about using the right tactics at the right time?

Let's be honest ...we're a bunch of cunts we wanted Ange out on Friday .....:)

In no way does yesterday detract from my concerns. If anything it showcases them.

It is one thing beating a team short of confidence who come at us but play football, and against whom we have an inexplicable record. It was a superb result by the way and left me giddy with glee, and relief.

Quite another however when we fall short against so called lesser teams, not once but twice in a few short weeks.

What yesterday has probably brought Postecoglou is time but lose next weekend and we are quickly back to square one in my opinion.

Yesterday just shows how we are all at the mercy of the players. Do what they are meant to in this system and with this manager and we will win games, don’t and we won’t. It is starting to feel pretty black and white on that front.

People are quick to scapegoat Ange for results like the Ipswich game but the players need to look at themselves too.

Yesterday they were on it, made the right decisions at right times and concentrated constantly. That needs to be the standard every game not just against the champions.

It's not always an Ange issue.

because our centre backs need a solid foundation infront of them so they're not left exposed and also Kulu and Maddison not trying to occupy the same positions works (as evidenced yesterday).

Maybe give it a go against teams that are not in the Premier League.

Yesterday was good evidence for this system against City.

Pretty sure we played the single pivot vs United and a few others this season too.

Not saying it's one or the other, just that being flexible and playing rhw right setup at the right time is spelt the best way to approach things.

I think the thing like most about this conversation is just it's utter lack of nuance. I've repeatedly said I'm a massive fan of Ange the bloke. If I could pick us a head coach that imbued what I want the club to 'feel' like he is it.

I'm equally clear that in it's purest iterations Angeball has not been a run away success. What we saw yesterday we have seen before and mostly against City. Adjustments in approach and the starting position of the center backs MAKES us harder to beat.

Stiffen the middle with a double pivot that has the capacity to protect the centerbacks ( and boy does Sarr have the capacity) we are better. I also saw an acknowledgement of game state, way more game management, and a willingness to break up cities play and kill the clock. IT WAS FANTASTIC. But we had 42% possession and City uniquely force this on Ange. Let's see if he will be similarly pragmatic going forward.

I'd say that yesterday's win stemmed from the defence.
Simply because they defended as a unit, much more cohesion.
The interceptions from Davies started the ball rolling for the goals and the long pass from Dragusin was exceptional.
However, will they be able to do it over a long period? Who knows.
