I have absolutely no idea why Villa have fallen off a cliff so badly....

But it is funny that some fans were signing Ange's praise when we beat them, but also now criticizing Villa/Emery
Either we beat a good team/manager or we didn't. It can't be both.
You can't rest players for the Champions League... exactly what happened to Newcastle last season. To compete and prosper in the Champions League and Premier League you need 18-22 proven high class internationals at your disposal. Of course only a few clubs who pay more than 200k per week in wages can manage that. Villa and Newcastle ain't one of them.

It certainly is challenging but Ange has to bear some of that responsibility. He doesn't get a free pass. Project based manager or not, 18 months is a long time in football and there has been little to no benefit realisation if you stick to the project analogy. In fact, you could argue we are stagnant or going backwards as we show no signs of learning from any of the past mistakes. Every now and again his team will turn into prime 81/82 Brazil but more often than not they look bang average. I'm neither Ange in or Ange out as I have become so apathetic towards him. He will be gone at some point in the next 18 months. If the ground becomes toxic towards DL then it will be sooner rather than later. Then the cycle resets... meet the new manager, same as the old manger.

Emery has made a name for himself as a Europa league level coach. I always felt that was because in Spain, you an rest your first team in the league and put a strong side out in the Europa league.
Can't do that here. Guess it's even harder for him in the CL.

Wonder what Villa fans are saying about Emery

Who gives a fuck

Put the question in the General Football thread where it belongs.

Not saying he's a Jonah, but that Villa winless run pretty much starts the moment Deuterz Deuterz suggested Emery should be our manager :cautious: :D

It's astonishing how one of the winningest managers in Europe - multiple EL winner - who has dragged Villa from the depths of a relegation battle to the most prestigious Club competition in the world - could be brought to ruin by a poster on a random Spurs forum just suggesting Emery should come to Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur - we can destroy any dream, by anyone, anywhere. :levylol:

One thing I admired under Poch he started off with a clean slate. Got rid of bad eggs and got us going into a stride by late october/november. Never looked back after that. I do like way Ange handles media and is a strong petsonality but hes been here year and a half and weve not got into a consistent stride. Having said that were in all competitions. Man utd in cup is a big game for momemtum of season.
Agreed. The real culprit of course is Levy as our lowest in league cost:income ratio is the key reason for our underperformance.

Steadily becoming less and less convinced by Ange though. Summer window was ok-ish. Gray we overpaid for, and Odobert too, but they are genuinely good prospects. Solanke is a good signing. But we need another 1 or 2 proven mid 20s elite signings. And we don't pay sufficient wages for that. Feels like that is more on Levy than Ange.

On Ange is the tactical blindness. The other night against Roma it was obviously we were getting hosed down the left, yet he did nothing about it positionally. Happens time and again with Ange.

I work with a Villa fan who is a season ticket holder and we were talking about that yesterday. They aren't' blaming the manager, more the board for not replacing Douglas Luiz and not dealing with the Diaby situation, leaving them ultimately with a weaker team up front and in midfield. But they realise hands have been tied with FFP , oh and they also think watkins is toilet who doesnt work hard for the team.

Spot on with this post... played Archie Gray at left back even though he's never played there in his life before he joined us... and Roma just kept on doubling up on him. When they weren't doing that, they were over loading Porro who looked like he was running in treacle after 60 mins... Ange just lets it play out in belief we will get a third... the old Cobra Kai philosophy - the best defence is more offence.

I've only been a Spurs supporter since Ange was appointed, before that I didn't support any team.
But now, I'll continue to support Spurs even if Ange is sacked.

I don't swap sides once I pick one.

I guess it all boils down to whether you are optimistic or pessimistic.
Personally, I think the brand of football Ange has instilled is great.
If we can get a few players back from injury, and maybe get 2 or 3 strategic signings in the winter window, I think Spurs can really go somewhere with this manager.

I'm still optimistic that the 9 December games will be 5W 2D & 2L

The old analogy... is the glass half full or half empty.
When I started it was Juande Ramos, and I remember having similar hopes of being lifted by winter reinforcements for years.

You will learn the ways of Levy... and still be stuck here like I am ;)

This is our grand pattern, isn't it? Solanke is a decent player, but the trouble is that we blew a huge sum on Richarlison and needed to blow another pile of cash on Solanke to fix it. If we'd get it right the first time we could have spent more for an elite player the first time and still had cash left over for other quality signings.

8 of the club's top 10 most expensive signings in history are with the team right now, and the team isn't good enough.

Here he goes again. Trying to be relevant and stir up another cunt off.

Honestly, mate...you never learn . :ange-facepalm2:

You mean, like the post you made which you didn't need to? I'll butt out now, now that I've put you in your place (again) but a couple of things to leave you with...

1. I'm not your 'mate'. I'd rather eat shit than be your mate.
2. Quit telling people what and where to post. I'm frankly baffled you can't see the irony in your own posts. It has to be one of two things - a chronic lack of self-awareness, or a deliberate choice.
3. I'm more relevant to this forum than you'll ever be. Because I'm a spurs fan.
