Brentford and Bournemouth both lost their best player and have done fine since. Brighton get gutted season after season and still do alright.
Meanwhile, at Spurs: we have injuries. Because no other club in the world have them.

You need to remember many of the posters arguing how wonderful our summer signings were disappear once we lose games and their hyper positive delusions get exposed.Lots to talk about on Ange, and he had a big part in this, but can we just recap some of the summer transfer narrative that we had on this siteā¦.
- Any notion than Son needed selling and replacing made you some sort of moron.
- Arguments than Johnson wasnāt good enough were met with the goals and assist police. I remember a large cohort of fans saying how much better than Luis Diaz he is based purely on stats. Laughable.
- Solanke was a game changer for us. How his pressing and goalscoring attributes (1 PL season) was the key to unlocking this side. I donāt want to dog Solanke too much because he hasnāt been terrible, but you only need to watch 5 games of his to realise he isnāt an elite player. Heās fine. Serviceable. Never a needle mover for us.
- Juxtapose that with Gyokeres, who was too big a risk because he was scoring in Portugal. We went for the prudent choice instead. What happened to āto dare is to doā. Surely weād rather reach for the stars and fall short than settle for mediocrity?
- Archie Gray was going to be a huge upgrade on PEH. An 18 year old was going to be an upgrade on an experienced international who has been a leader for his country for years? I was not a fan of PEH, but we have missed his experience and energy particularly in tight games. Iām sure it was Richard Arlison (who by the way knows nothing about football from every single post I read of his) that said Gray would be playing for England by Xmas.
- Similarly, Gray was meant to provide robust cover at FB. Heās a very very very shit full back, doesnāt have the pace, doesnāt have the defensive nous, doesnāt have the man to man coverage. Spence must be watching him play there and scratching his head.
- Whilst there was broad agreement that the Werner signing was silly, when myself and others were calling for a proper signing at one of the wide forward positions, we got a lot of shit about how Odeberts stats showed he was perfect for us, and how the Werner signing, whilst not ideal, was astute in a way to not block Mooreās progression to the first team. It was so so obvious we needed a high quality wide forward, anyone (and I mean anyone) associated with the club that couldnāt see that needs sacking.
- As a fan base, we also used Chelsea as an illustration of dumb transfer policy and there were many claims of how much āsmarterā we are than them. Now Iām not lauding their transfer strategy because quite frankly itās both dumb and seemingly unsustainable, but what it does show is the importance of buying high quality players. They have plenty - even if some of their signings have been duds. We are as rich a club as them now. We should be focussing on how we get as many top players into key positions as possible. Moore and Lankshear will work their way through itās theyāre good enough!
None of this to exonerate Ange, but it does put into perspective how poor the summer window was and how much weāre paying for it now.
That was my initial thought when I saw it. There's nothing to be gained. The fans aren't happy and will boo and perhaps get abusive like one guy did. You aren't going to get a pat on the pack for applauding them - best to walk away/not engage. Why was he going over there? Not sure what he was trying to achieve. Best to avoid confronting angry fans like that, nothing good can come of it.
Let me tell you a little secret - the football a lot of the time isnāt that good. Weāre often quite boring. There increasingly needs to be a fairly specific set of opposition circumstances for Ange Ball to even work (let alone thrive)Will you leave when he goes? Or before perhaps.
We don't like your guy. We don't want him here.
Especially away fans. Itās not exactly as if tickets and travel is cheap nowadays. Why was he going over there? Not sure what he was trying to achieve. Best to avoid confronting angry fans like that, nothing good can come of it.
I get why people are annoyed but Ange is a proven winner. Tottenham have been through plenty of managers and have found no solution to winning a trophy for a long time now. Ange isn't just interested in winning, he is at the club to improve the place from top to bottom in order to consistently win trophies. To get there, there will be bumps.
Every time Tottenham lose, I see a lot of people losing their mind on here. Based on what I read, it is time for Tottenham to stop using the motto "To Dare is to Do". A lot of fans here aren't brave enough to challenge the established order and lose their minds every time there is a set back. They want to see their team park that bus at certain times. How is that brave? How is that ambitious? Maybe the motto should be "We won't dare because we are to scared to do".
Support the manager and his methods whilst he is at the club.
Social media has a lot to answer for here. You need to remember many of the posters arguing how wonderful our summer signings were disappear once we lose games and their hyper positive delusions get exposed.
It doesnāt matter if we sign a one legged midget from Uzbekistan, youāll have clowns on here telling you heās the current young player of the year in that country etc.
Itās funny if it wasnāt a bit tragic.
Interesting, you are right over the years the medical side of the club has definitely changed. We just don't seem to get players back quickly or resolve the injuries for the long term. It's almost like the players would have to do something themselves, I remember Kane kept getting one or two injuries a season, he then hired his own 'medical team' so to speak and the injuries disappeared for longer periods of time.My memory may be foggy but I think that some sort of major shift happened in our medical and sports science department midway through Poch's run. When the injury thing really picked up. So there must have been some sort of shake up behind closed door within the medical team. I know that one of our main sports science guys left and was replaced with Poch's kid (who has a degree tbf, but we were his first job).
We have also recently poached the head of sports science from West Ham for this season. But I assume that it will take some time for him to change things as well.
Why was he going over there? Not sure what he was trying to achieve. Best to avoid confronting angry fans like that, nothing good can come of it.
Fuck off you fat cunt

Noticed youāre going back to last season and putting funny ratings on old posts, fair enough, not something Iād ever do but to each their own
Ange isnāt the greatest manager in the world, I agree, but I like his football (when itās working) and his mentality
Weāve tried every type of manager over the last 25 years and itās always turned out the same, whatās the point in sacking another one? Starting all over again and the blame not getting pointed at the real villains?
I donāt have another fucking rebuild in me, weāll be here again in 18 months
Yes, and those of us in the so called "negative" camp on here were screaming it all summer from the moment we signed Werner that we could all see what a shit show that window would turn out to be.Lots to talk about on Ange, and he had a big part in this, but can we just recap some of the summer transfer narrative that we had on this siteā¦.
