Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I came on this site when Spurs were considering signing Angi to warn you against it....

"Just a word to those of you looking forward to Angie as your manager.......
....... If you want to judge Angie's quality as a manager, you can't look to his accomplishments in a bigoted Scotland or in a Japanese league, judge his tactics when Celtic play European opposition ......
..... Celtics results in Europe are embarrassing and Angie's tactics are naive - even against teams who aren't in the top leagues.
At best, Angie's managerial skills are at a mid Championship league level and that's pushing it.
....... Ange, to make a long story short is - sh*te!"

And what did I get for trying to do you a favour - fuckin' dog's abuse .... then again, it wasn't quite as bad as calling me 'a fat cunt'. LMFAO

So, based on the appeciatiation I got for giving you advice that turned out to be true, I'd say, along with karma, you got what you fuckin deserve, didn't yi!

cheerio!

Thank you Mr Hun!

I did get the privilege to see Jim Baxter a few times and he was a special player!

He hasn't done anything in his career that would justify him being here, and he hasn't done anything here since then. And it has been more than a year, we're not talking about a Nuno situation where the guy got sacked in less than 6 months. So IMO the default stance against Ange's tenure should be that it was a huge failure and he needs to be replaced. You're perfectly entitled to think otherwise, but the burden of proof is on you. Not on those who think he's not good enough.

That being said, I'm so repulsed by the scenario of sacking him around Christmas / New Year and having to endure 6 months of Mason that I'm willing to see him carry on, at least for the time being. Levy won't snag someone from his club mid-season, and I don't see any world beaters among managers that are currently available. So unless he really sinks the ship, keep him til the summer. Not as a vote of confidence, but as a sign of the grimness of the alternatives.

In the last couple of days I’ve seen people post here who aren’t spurs fans but are Ange fans and follow him, I’ve seen someone who isn’t a Spurs fan but IS a Paratici fan who just follows him, and now we have a person who isn’t a Spurs fan but actually TYPES in Scottish abusing members of the forum for not heeding his warnings about Ange…

This forum is the twilight zone isn’t it 😄

And I respect that this is your opinion, however when you have to handle a playing group of individuals who have varying sized egos and the same goes for a press contingent who believe they are immune to critique he cannot possibly be accused of being insecure!
I appreciate that and I respect that you may have a different opinion to me also and that’s fine, I also appreciate what you are saying and understand your perspective.

My belief however is that he is insecure in regards to his footballing philosophy working at this level and I believe a lot of his bravado is a defence mechanism for him to cope with the pressure that he is feeling.

As far as a general level of insecurity I am not sure, again, I don’t know him personally or see him day to day so I couldn’t speak for that, I am simply going off of his interviews, press conferences and post match interviews.

Also, life experience has taught me that just because someone is put in charge of a team of highly driven individuals with big ideas and big egos it does not mean they are confident or secure in their position or can indeed handle those situations in a productive and healthy manner; many people are very good at masking their insecurities and I think we have seen the wall crack at times with Ange in this regard and that’s when he is more likely to say nonsensical things.

The only time I really see him speaking with a level of confidence is when his ideas are not being challenged and he feels comfortable tbh.

Obviously all just my opinion and again, I could be wrong.

Yeah it's a tough job up there. Ange did brilliant compared to some really impressive managerial names there.

I don't think Aussies grasp quite how inferior the Scottish league is in comparison to the PL.

Ange went to a one team league, to manage that one team who win everything, and continued to win everything. Yet when they went to Europe they got embarassed. He didn't do anything special against any opposition apart from vastly inferior scottish teams.

There is a strong case to be made that his all out high risk attacking football actually suits weak leagues perfectly, because in those leagues, the opposition are so poor, that if you do just go for it every single game, whilst retaining the clearly superior players, you will do very well.

That doesn't translate at all to the PL, where the best managers and teams actually very well balanced. Defence is the number 1 thing you have to get right if you want to compete, and because the PL is so tough, you get excellent bright coaches from across Europe who impeccably organise their team, and defence. They will study intensely and exploit any weaknesses in their opponents, and Ange's system has lots of weaknesses.

Ange is taking around the 5th/6th best squad in the league, to a midtable finish. That is appalling.

fair play, absolutely nailed it.

So he took them from a 40% win rate pile of shit and got the highest win rate of every manager since 2009 whilst winning the treble.

I'm not coming in here to defend anything but this doesn't show what you think it shows.
The 40% was a complete anomaly and based on a manager being at the club for 4 months Richard.

Also, Celtic have won more domestic trebles than any club and have won it every year from 2016 onwards, the last one was in 2020 a year before he took over, it’s hardly impressive what Ange accomplished there imo, it’s almost expected at Celtic.

Can’t take his 1 percentage point win rate improvement over Rodgers away from him though.

Yeah those two are a good watch and scratch the surface of the problems we are facing as fans and definitely nail it in places, especially Flav. He says similar in the pod he does with the Palace guy.

I was wondering the other day if the club has got too big for Levy and too big for Ange but one thing I didn’t consider was, has it got too big for us as fans? Our expectations just aren’t getting met, that’s not our fault.

All I know is they are losing me. I feel like I say it every season though, two of my mates still have their season tickets but don’t go and put them on the exchange instead. They can’t face it. Thanks for posting. Good content.

Ange turned them around because their caretaker manager lost 2 games and drew once against Rangers in 10 games after Neil Lennon fucked off.

For the record, here's Neil's managerial record.

He must only be a really good manager at Celtic for some weird reason.

dont know why rangers is relevant. he should be gone already, but losing tomorrow should be his head on the chopping block. hes wayyyy out of his depth and i think the players are fully aware of him being a charlatan, shouldnt be anywhere near this level of football.

I think the Rangers game is more relevant than Chelsea.

Chelsea, more than any other and now Newcastle away are our jinx side. We rarely touch them regardless of respective form, so tomorrow is a game that hardly needs playing.

Thursday, against a side in a lesser league and Postecoglou being the ex-Celtic manager is more indicative of where we are.

I think both games are losses and that is the pressure that is applied when you lose after being 2 up against Brighton (and then losing), then defeats to winless Palace and Ipswich.

I don't believe Postecoglou is necessarily out of his depth but he may be out of time.
