Jesus. A completely thread bare squad (through both injury and the penchant for buying kids) playing two games a week.

There has been some dross served up (as partly to be expected due to the above), but the fact we’re still alive in all the cups and five points off fourth (with our goal difference giving us in effect an extra point), might give some cause for optimism, though not if you read all the posts here…

Ange “outers” hmmm. I’d like to see pragmatism from him. An ability to accept that his style needs to adapt to be consistent in this league. An acceptance that flat track bullying might work in Scotland but this is different.

If he can do that and enhance some of the breathtaking forward play with defensive nous when needed, I’ll be Ange in but at the moment I’m not seeing it. I don’t believe I will see it. That’s why I’m Ange out. I hope he proves me wrong.
Not saying that we can’t do better, but only two clubs have a better defensive record than us….

That didn't answer the question really did it 🤣
Always celebrate goals. Last night was a good win even if saints were a shambles. Let’s see what happens next game although to be fair and as he has mentioned (more than once) we do have a shocking injury list. If you’d care to check back I was one of the few that didn’t want to loose to citeh last season. I never want us to loose and always celebrate a win.

I did answer the question. It was just that the response maybe slipped past you. That’s okay.

There’s a positivity thread no fucker has ever posted in after a win.

It’s just who we are mate!

Hey Ange outers, let me ask you a question, do you celebrate goals and wins knowing that you want the manager out?
Sure. You can be a fan of Spurs but not of the manager. I remember plenty of people who didn't like Conte, Nuno, and Mourinho. Nobody was asking them to take loyalty pledges to the manager. I don't think it makes sense to fire Postecoglou and I don't think Levy and Munn will anytime soon. So, I'm not technically an Ange outer, I'm just bored with him and don't believe in his system.

a manager who I think prioritised his short term future over the long term one of the club with his selfish selections for the Chelsea game by picking not fully fit players - so that's on him.
Ange doesn't make the call alone whether players are fit to play. There is a discussion with the medical team, the player and the coaching staff. It's just crazy to say that Ange receives advice that a players isn't ready to return, but he plays them anyway.

The final decision is his surely!

Like Poch playing a clearly unfit Harry Kane in a CL final then wondering why he got sacked!

Bearing in mind that I earned my coaching badges at The Imperial in Melbourne, I note that the wide players in Postecoglou's system stay very wide, just inside the touchline *facing their own goal*.

I see that is a problem as when they receive the pass there is nearly always an opponent breathing down their neck, so the options are: play a first-time pass around the corner (which Son tried but failed to hit a team mate), roll the opponent like Spence did or Kul and Maddison, and, thirdly, pass all the way to the CB or keeper.

The first option unless executed perfectly is predictable and can be cut off, or it misses the team mate. The second option is difficult to execute and third option just kills momentum and resets the attack.

The reality is that the player will always say he’s fit when he’s not. The Medical staff will advise why they shouldn’t play. And the manager will say why they need them to play.

How many times a season do you see players break down in the first 15 minutes returning from injury? That’s part of football.

Ultimately it’s one of the reasons why the manager has a 7 figure salary to make these judgement calls.

Sounds like a legit reason.

An 80% fit Kane is better than most other players in the world in his position.

He was never going to be “match fit” as he hadn’t played for so long.

Going 1-0 down after 1 minute and Liverpool essentially not trying to score is what fucked Spurs that night.

& frankly that performance was nothing new - we’ve seen what happens when Kane is isolated and well marshalled by a world class central defender.

He, like almost all centre forwards, has always been service reliant in those situations and we didn’t move it quickly enough to really get the Liverpool defence worried at all.

I always find the ‘playing an injured Kane’ to be the easiest of easy cop outs. We gave a close to 100 point side a 1-0 lead early and they had an exceptional defensive spine which just saw it out.

Maybe Lucas gives VVD more to think about at times but I highly doubt it changes the result at all.
