Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So you're saying Ange is a boot-lick? .

He'll keep his job so long as he's happy to continue his roll as Daniel's whipping boy?

Hmmm :sonhmm:
Yeah this is actually true, he is just happy to be here and thankful whereas other coaches felt they could challenge the board.

He is well behaved so as long as that continues he will keep getting fed treats.
There's a degree of truth in all this, but if you think a public campaign against the board by the manager is going to A. change Levy's behavior, B. oust ENIC from ownership, or C. maximize our chances of winning games, you just weren't paying attention during the Conte era (or the Poch era for that matter).

Levy Out is the fans job, it's our job. The manager's job is to coach the team. That Ange does that without the customary woe-is-me trail of complaints about the referees, the media, the board, his players, and so on and so forth has always seemed sensible and endearing to me.

If I believed a manager cunting off Levy in the little Sky postmatch interview corner would cause him to sell or spend more I'd be demanding that too, but I don't see how anyone can really believe that anymore.

Fair comment.

Although the poster I was quoting suggested this is why he'd keep his job and why he'll only be sacked if results were (quote) really bad

If that's the case, I'd find that alarming. The managers ability to manage a football team should be his overriding job requirement. Not his willingness to suck up to his boss

Can we cease and desist with the 'what drives these sad fools to say the same thing on the internet over and over again'.

We're all sad fuckers. There's no moral distinction between 'moaning' and 'moaning about moaning'.

Among other negatives of Levy's ownership, constantly sacking managers for failure to live up to an expectation level that isn't reasonable given the paucity of resources Levy has provided has been a regular hinderance for us.

If Ange being less squeaky of a wheel brings him the patience that he (and several of his predecessors) merits, then so much the better, squeaking wheels aren't going to get us anywhere anyhow.

Now this I agree with 100%

I'm not saying Ange should be firing off shots at Levy at every opportunity. I'm not even criticising him for taking the flak on his own shoulders.

It's just the idea that his willingness to protect his boss should be a good enough reason to keep his job that sits uncomfortable with me.

I am not referring to the prime minister joke, I am referring to this…

Can you point to me what is tongue-in-cheek about what he said in the above clip?

I do wonder why people keep trying to reframe this…

You’ve clearly not met many Aussies!

Why is there the need to forensically dissect every detail the bloke says?!

Jeez some on here are worse for it than the media scumbags!

John, not a single person on here believes that Ange would be kept on regardless of results because he won't speak out against his boss. This is a narrative being hypothesised by those who can't understand why he is still in the job despite inconsistent form. And whilst it is a fair hypothesis, that's all it is.

Just because speaking out publicly against your boss is a more direct route to getting the chop, not speaking out doesnt really infer the opposite. Does it make it easier to keep someone on if they arent creating additional toxicity - sure - but no amount of sealed lips about the hierarchy would have, in my opinion, kept Ange in a job had he lost to Southampton and last night.

I listened to the presser for the first time in ages, and a lot of what Ange said makes sense to me, especially about social media and pundits. He makes a good point about how many players we have missing, as it doesn't even get a mention, whereas Man C are struggling because they are missing one player.

How well was Ange doing when he had basically all of that?

This is the issue. Yeah we have injuries and should take it in to account. We still had a point from two games against the two promoted sides PRIOR to injuries.

We weren’t consistently picking up points pre all those being out and we aren’t afterwards either.

We had this last season too btw - wait till Ange gets his players back. Well he did and we still weren’t consistent.

If I thought with a fully fit team we’d be flying then I’d be behind him. We aren’t and won’t be. There will always be excuses for this man.
Oh last season when Levy sold our best player and never replaced him .

And bought him VDV, Maddison, Udogie joined for the season, Brennan Johnson, Dragusin, Vicario..

Also no not last season! This one! Ipswich and Leicester when we were full strength. We were full strength for Palace and Woolwich too. Why do people act like our form fell apart post injuries, we were a bit rubbish before them..
