It's mental.

People can't be this deluded?!

We are going out against Liverpool on Wednesday. Even if we somehow get a result, they'll just batter us at Anfield in the second leg. Surely there is nothing in this side you can see which makes you think we have the ability to beat the best team in the league over two legs? We shat the bed at home to United and that was only one leg. We somehow let them back into it, if we had to go to Old Trafford for the second leg we'd have probably thrown it away.

The Europa league we've been played off the park in Turkey and even by Rangers. This team has fk all chance of winning that cup. As soon as we face a good team, we'll be out. We are a genuinely awful football side under Ange.

We generally play like shite and lose, sometimes play decent like today and lose. That's just who we are.
I don’t know what to say other than people genuinely believe we were good even when we had Romero and VdV. We were a bit better but still not even up to par then.

It’s ok though- we just have to let it all crash really thoroughly so everyone can agree it’s done. Well, so be it.

You’re genuinely hilarious- keep it up. Calling me defeatist because I insist on competing in the league- you need a reality check.

As I said- enjoy your fantasy cup run. Disregarding all of the past performance and thinking it’s genuinely of no bearing on chances of success in a cup are just not rational positions in my opinion. Good luck, mate.

You're insisting on competing for mid table FFS

The league is over mate, pointless going for anything meaningful in the league when you have cups you can prioritise.

Talking about last performances lol going by your logic you think that we never have a chance of winning a trophy ever again because of part performance...what are we doing here lmao

This isn't an argument for keeping him. It's context for why it's more difficult than it has been in years past.

Look, this shouldn't need to be said but clearly it must be.

Austin, Porro, Spence, Gray, Reguillon

Was our back 5 who kept Newcastle out second half today. Bergvall was our bog before being subbed.

Newcastle were a referees decision and a
Solanke header away from being beaten by a cobbled together rag tag bunch of kids and nobodies.

The team is clearly still playing for the manager. If we replace that manager we need to be sure they will continue to do so or we risk an even worse implosion than 22/23.

Whoever comes in needs to command the respect of Cuti and VDv because they are the players who will get us out of this mess. For better or worse. It's tricky.

When they find the right interim he'll go
What you say about today's back 5 only excuses today's result, nobody wants a manager gone because of one result, it's the result of a consistent under performance, even with the big players available.

You might not be arguing for keeping him, but suggesting it's "tricky" due to the players liking him IS putting forward an argument in his favour.

I'm simply adding to that by pointing out that if what we are seeing week in week out is with the players fully behind him, then it highlights even further just how I'll equipped he is to manage at this level.

Would you rather go strong in a cup match knowing that it could get you into a semi final or go stronger for a lesgue match knowing if would get you into 10th?

Because this is the point by the way, the league is pretty much over so why would you want to prioritise that over a cup? It doesn't make any sense.

And whose fault is it that our european chasing league season is over?

BTW the league isn't over, because we aren't even at 40 points yet. We could get relegated. I know you think that's OTT, but the way we are playing and the results, we easily could do. 1 win in 8 is absolutely shocking.

Extrapolate that out over the remaining 18 games.....

We’ve had no press leaks about his future since that was reported. Feels like it was ages ago but I suspect it wasn’t. I think they’ll be talking to caretakers now to steady the ship for the rest of the season. Someone will do it but they’ll be a basic manager. It won’t be anyone with any bells and whistles. Personally I’d go for someone with CL/EL experience to try and get us through the cups.
Has there been rumblings about his sacking being imminent then?

I've kept off here over the festive break mostly so not fully aware of any nuggets of news that have been circling.

Yes! I’m hoping to compete for mid table! Well-argued Shadydan- you really twisted my words there.

Ignoring a run of results as not relevant to future performance- unbelievable.

As I said- good luck out there.

Earth calling Shadydan Shadydan

the original poster stated the league is irrelevant and we should rotate to prioritise the cups.

If we fucking do that then we wouldn't be having "our strongest team on the pitch" in the league would we. Deary fucking me.

What are you actually scared of, do you think we'd be relegated, seriously?

Even if we get half our tens back now we'd finish in or around the places we are in now.

Are fans are wimps I swear. Fuck me.

Newcastle were comfortable defending their lead until Son, Madders and Reggie were brought in. You just wonder why Ange sticks with Brennan. Worst footballer I've seen at a top 6 club. Oh, forgot we're 12th. Makes a bit more sense now.
What else is he meant to do? Limited players as it is... Under our ownership it's going to be difficult to ship him off anyway. He has to keep him active and at least try to protect some of the value he was brought in for. I'm sure behind the scenes they're discussing options for bringing in competition for him at the very least.

Maybe not start him? But he clearly thinks that BJ is something special. For 50M he had options and he went for BJ. How clueless .
