My post was addressing a claim that we're not in an injury crisis, and that anyone who says we are is delusional.

Austin was good.

Johnson was poor. But to say that his miss cost us the game is an oversimplification. With our best back 3 we likely don't concede two, would have had more possession, and would have created more chances. And if Odobert wasn't injured then he probably starts instead of Johnson by now.
I see what you mean but Son and Madders aren't injured. Son is superior to BJ and he can play on the right. He's done so multiple times for us and scored many important goals from that position.

And Madders is our top scorer. You can't blame it on injuries if you don't even start the strongest players available. Madders has been benched for 3 games in a row now. That is after scoring 3 in 2.

Can you make sense of that? A player in form. Your top scorer and also most creative player. Suddenly dropped for 3 games. What is Ange thinking?

Also, Spence is really a starter. He's shown how good he is. Despite not being Ange's first choice, he's no worse than Udogie.
But by never playing him earlier in the season, Ange really asked for an injury to happen and injuries he got. It's self inflicted.

Even Werner on the right would be better. For all his flaws, we've seen that Werner can beat a man, unlike BJ. If Werner played on the right, his crosses would also be so much better as he's right footed.

Why this reluctance to drop BJ? Could it have something to do with Ange wasting 50M in transfer funds on him? Would be quite a hit to his ego if Werner actually took his place.

It's all about prestige and ego at this point. Ange is broken but he's not big enough to admit his mistakes and rectify it. He's going to play it his way and find every excuse in the book when we lose.

Newcastle were pretty comfortable. All top teams find a way to score against us. Liverpool could've scored 10.

We have 4 clean sheets this season. 7 all of last season. Do you think it only has to do with injuries?

Compare that to Forest with 8 CS and Everton with 7.
Does it only have to do with our defenders?

Conte sent Spence out on loan. Arguably the most “elite” coach we have had this century
Leeds shipped him out after just 1/2 season there. Didn’t want him.
And Genoa couldn’t find £9m to buy him after they had him on loan. .

Not just Ange who overlooked him.

It sounds like Spence has grown up a bit this season and is working hard in training every day. And didn’t before.

Now he’s got a chance to prove how good he is. Let’s hope he takes it.
But Spence was much younger back then. Is that reason for Ange not to include him in Europe or to use him as a sub to avoid injuries for other players?

Yes he has a chance, but he was never given a chance by Ange. He was forced to get a chance because no other option was available. That's how little potential Ange saw in him.

Ange's idea of potential is BJ. I can guarantee that no elite manager would sign that kid for 50M. The guy can't even strike a football. Only tap ins from a few yards is what he is capable of.

Last game he had the best chance of the game. Instead of hitting the target, the shot went parallel to the goal. It's unreal really. What a complete joke of a player. Could've signed someone from Real Madrid for that kind of money. Now we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Good luck getting a top 4 spot with that clown in your attack.

And benching your top scorer is usually a pretty dumb idea. Madders haven't started for 3 games after he scored 3 in 2.

Ange doesn't like that Madders leapfrogged BJ as the top scorer? Is he going to block Madders from playing until BJ reclaims his spot?

Yep. Van Der Ven was our only 1st team player out upto and including Ipswich. We were 10th and were on for a 55 pt season. Its been like that since March with a full strength team.

Palace was arguably our worst performance of the season too, full strength eleven out. Completely useless in that game.

I’m sure we would be higher without injuries but we’d be nowhere near where people were expecting. The idea was top 4 this season.

I’ve no idea what the Europe situation was about. Something about club trained players? I’m guessing we filled the squad? We only had so many places.

As for Maddison. Reading through his thread on here tells you everything you need to know.

If you really believe he’s being dropped so Johnson can catch him up for goals scored I’d love to see your internet search history.

Your assessment of Johnson seems far removed from reality tbh.

Any fan who wants us to lose just need to fuck off. We might not want the guy who’s in charge but you should always want to win every game no matter what’s going on.
The atmosphere in the stadium has changed a bit in the last couple of games but it’s certainly not toxic. The boos from Bergvall going off were loudest it’s been.
That's because the DJ couldn't turn the music up for subs. That'll be next lol

We were 9th or 10th before a single injury and had been rubbish for a long while running back to the end of last season when we had our players back.

Club are sticking by him because of lack of alternative options. They will assess in the summer. If someone decent is available/we can tempt Iraola, Ange is toast. You don’t survive a mid table finish.
Not sure it will even be a mid table finish either on our current trajectory

No way do we get to even 50 pts. That would likely mean another 8 wins and a couple of draws. This side and manager arent winning another 8 league games this season. Top 8 and Europe is long gone. Its going to be our worst points total for at least 21 years.

It's absolutely fucking mad he is still in a job. If we don't get to 50 points he cant be here next season because if he is, then we will start next season the same and really be in a relegation fight.

So you rate BJ and think he has the technical ability to become a top player?

Let's see in a few years. I've never seen a worse player in a spurs shirt. At least not a high profile signing. Even Forest are not missing him. They are so much better without him.

It's natural that if you make a massive mistake like that, you try to cover it up. For Ange the only way is to show some goals and assists for the millions that he spent. Even tap ins will look good, even if we all know that anyone can do that job.

BJ can't even beat a man and he can't hit the goal from a few yards out. It was not a near miss against Newcastle. The ball went in the wrong direction by 90 degrees.

Who started against Palace? It was Moore - Solanke - BJ up front.
Usually we play with 10 men when BJ starts. This game we played with 9.

Richarlison was available for that game and I'd even have played Werner instead of BJ on the right.

At least Werner can beat a man and cross. His crosses are always with his left. Put him on the right and he can improve the crosses substantially.

They are both poor finishers but Werner can definitely score the tap ins that BJ is scoring. He's even faster so may also reach more of them.

Can't keep this fool until the summer!!! Far too much damage would have been done by then. Bottom half of the table, no silverware, our better players wanting away, if they are fit enough to get out of the treatment room and our youngsters devoid of confidence.
Our current squad deserve someone competent at the helm!

I don’t think you like Johnson. That you’re biased due to that.

Maybe watch this to see how much absolute bollocks you are talking.

We already did that once this season to them and conceded four last season. We have conceded lots of goals loads of times with Romero/VDV.

The game would be very different. They probably don’t take an early lead and sit on it. We probably do build out better and create more. But there’s also a high chance we find another way to fuck things up, which is what this team has been doing for months and months regardless of who is in the side.

Also as a STH holder, my observation is that since the Liverpool game that Ange Postecoglou chant has vanished. Gone.

The band at the bar in the West tried to start it up pregame on Saturday and nobody really joined in.

I'm not saying the match day fans are all Ange Out but there's a definite shift in attitude. It's gone from fully behind him to a bit "meh".
Craig Mitch on The Kick Off reckoned the shift of Ange in/out had gone from 70:30 to 50:50 in the last few weeks.

Oh man that’s a lot of tap ins.

In the league he’s on nearly 1 goal in 3 now. Which is pretty good, except he doesn’t really offer anything else. Newcastle was another game where we were basically down to 10 men if he didn’t get his 1 in 3 tap in.

He’s below xG so not clinical with the tap ins. So basically he offers smart runs off the ball. Which are an asset, but not enough to start. A useful, niche squad player. Our not as good version of Diogo Jota but with significantly less technical quality.
