Scott left last August

But I'm sure that didn't stop him from knowing what happened internally with the decision to play VDV and Romero.

How have the Athletic even published that? It's shameless tbh.

i'm honestly so mad about this. the biggest spurs story of the last year is the injury crisis and it turns out ange had a falling out with our head of medicine and sports science over bringing back players too early and training them too hard and this is the first we're hearing about it after being told geoff scott left on his own. alasdair gold should never show his face in a press conference again and just take an office down the hall from levy in the pr department. "oh lol ange made an injury joke about the translator!"

Ange Postecoglou clashed with Spurs medical head before his exit

It has now been revealed that a significant behind-the-scenes disagreement between Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and long-serving head of physio Geoff Scott took place before the latter’s sudden departure, ending his two-decade tenure at the club.

The backdrop to Tottenham’s medical overhaul

Since the end of the 2023/24 season, Tottenham Hotspur’s medical and sports science departments have undergone sweeping changes, signalling a new era of fitness and recovery management at the North London club.
The transformations began in the summer with the departure of Geoff Scott, who had been synonymous with the club’s medical team for 20 years.

Scott, who initially joined Tottenham in 2004 after a stint at Fulham, rose to become the head of medicine and sports science, overseeing player recovery and fitness regimes during the reigns of 11 different managers.

His sudden departure marked the end of an era for Tottenham’s medical staff. In a recent interview, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Tottenham had embarked on an ambitious restructuring of their medical department.

He stated: “It was always part of the plan. We changed the head of our performance and he’s made sure he’s had a good look at how we do things and now he’s looking to bring in new people which was always the plan at this time.”

A fallout between Ange Postecoglou and Geoff Scott at Spurs

While the official narrative from Tottenham emphasised a routine restructuring, fresh revelations have shed light on a more complex and contentious backstory.

According to a report from The Athletic, Geoff Scott’s departure may have been influenced by a disagreement with Ange Postecoglou.

An anonymous source claims that their dispute was over the management of the first-team squad’s workload and injured players’ recovery.

Despite these reports, the club insists that Scott’s departure did not involve Ange Postecoglou and it was instead a result of the review and restructure of the department.

Who is the new face behind Tottenham’s medical team?

Following Scott’s exit, Tottenham have appointed Adam Brett as the club’s new director of performance services. Brett’s career began in rugby union before spending nearly a decade with Brighton.

The new performance of services, Adam Brett, oversees sports science, medical, nutrition and psychology as part of his role and can be spotted next to the bench on a matchday. He also reports to the club’s chief football officer (CFO) Scott Munn.

i'd say we are in a full blown self made crisis and it's time to rotate in some academy players especially for a meaningless europa match--and yes it's meaningless as we aren't winning a fucking european cup while deep in the worst season in 50 years with a bare bones squad.
We are all but assured a play off match anyway. We should be sensible and allow the main fit players to recover. Leicester is right now the most important game of the season.

A fraud. He needs to take the next tram out of town.
Scott left before we signed Odobert.

“Ange’s recent comments following Spurs’ game against Chelsea shed light on their injury problems. He openly admitted that some of their issues stem from the way he trains players. He specifically mentioned muscle strains and tears as a direct result of his methods, which reflects his uncompromising philosophy. He has essentially acknowledged that their injury crisis is partly his fault, but he has no intention of altering his training regime, just as he refuses to change his tactical approach.

Ange is right to say that training must mirror how he wants his team to play. He has the mandate to run things his way, and his methods have brought him success. However, at Spurs, it seems a bit reckless given their lack of squad depth. Even at Celtic during his second season—despite some missteps in recruitment under Mark Lawwell—we had enough depth to see us through. Still, there were times when the sheer number of injuries pushed us close to disaster.

Last season, I think some of our injuries were down to the transition between Ange’s training methods and Brendan’s. The players had to recondition themselves, and that had predictable effects. But now that Brendan has fully implemented his approach and the players are properly adapted, the difference has been remarkable. Between his methods and our squad rotation, this team is fitter than it’s been in years.”
