Sherwood is loads better than Mr Brisbane Roar![]()
30 seconds into the game.
I mean. Where do you even start?
That's our number #6 over there on the right back. Who's there because our right back is ON THEIR FUCKING LEFT BACK AND IS OUR HIGHEST PLAYER ON THE PITCH.
Oh, and guess where the goal came from. Yep, their left wing, in acres of space and completely unmarked by - you guessed it - Pedro Porro.
In this passage of play, Porro is late to the press, which sets the whole train in motion. Bentancur has no choice but to cover in behind him. This is clearly what Ange wants them to do.
But you can see how utterly uncoached this team is because the players aren't pressing up in unison. They're supposed to be "man to man" - how many Villa men do you see unmarked though? I count three in the middle of the pitch alone.
Furthermore, in no world should your only defensive midfielder be out on the right back: in fact, he should NEVER move from a 10m radius in the middle of the pitch in front of the centre backs. How often do you see Rodri or Busquets vacate the middle? This is schoolboy stuff.
In no world should your whole team be FUCKED if the first line of the press is broken, but that's exactly what happens here. And has happened time and time again under this clown.
Another thing - pressing is nothing to do with personnel. Someone please explain to me how having Romero or VDV available will prevent this shitshow from occurring? We know it won't, because it happened repeatedly when we had all XI players fit.
In years to come people will look back on this period and you'll not find a soul who will admit to ever backing him. It'll be seen as a Sherwood level appointment.
He sets them up to fail again and again.![]()

Everyone needs to relax. Watch the superbowl. Sleep it off. 7 days till our next game and then another 7 day break before Ipswich. The team need this rest. I think we'll be a totally different team after this rest.
In Ange we trust!

It's all down using the space on the field. Teams that create advantage are fun to watch no matter what their system in. To your point, there's winning and losing, winning is more entertaining.“Project” seems such a levy ism when it comes to football. Projects has a start and end date with a clear objective. No such thing exists with Spurs.
Football’s only project is to win the next game. That’s it, I think.
Think of the thousands of clubs at every level of British football, from the parks to the senior professionals, every single one of them want to win the next game. Except Levy who wants to project manage us.
It’s insanity.
Winning is all that ever counted. And winning football is entertaining football before any of us get into the delusional position of thinking you need a rabona every other game or it’s all shit. It really isn’t like that.
Some of the best games ever had tactical nous and commitment and very little flair. That is competitive sport.
We're rolling it over for another week so United can get the three points they need.
bore off you trollYeah man we covered all this in the match thread. But cheers.
What was wrong with Sherwood? Great ppg- underrated tenure![]()
the middle of the pitch has always been, and always will be the most important area of a football pitch. its the fucking heart of the game FFS! this idiot neglects it like ive never seen before...all to have defenders go and try to be attacking playmakers LOOOOOL its the most retarded set up youll ever see. it stinks of someone trying to be some sort of genuis and try and reinvent the game, but they are nothing but a fucking clown whos embarrassing themselves. thats ange postecoglou for you! some wanna be savant whos the biggest joke in football.Furthermore, in no world should your only defensive midfielder be out on the right back: in fact, he should NEVER move from a 10m radius in the middle of the pitch in front of the centre backs. Frankfurt and Lyon not to be sniffed at either.
Nothing sounds crazy at this juncture. We've just seen 190 minutes of bloody dreadful cup footy. Any organised team with pace up front will cause us problems.
Fact is that returning players will take a couple of games if not weeks to get fully up to speed. It's not the cure-all that some proclaim it to be.
