The cup games were everything...until we were out, now they're purged from the record. Each league victory is a truimph, each defeat doesnt matter as its all about Europa....until we're knocked out when climbing to 12th or therabouts will be signs of huge improvement etc etc.
I hope even if we make a late surge to say 8th but still knocked out of Europe doesn’t convince the board we are improving and they keep him on. To me he looks as if he doesn’t give a shit about being sacked. It’s like his Teflon. The strange thing is for the most part it seems like his not even under any pressure.

its bizarre
there are still eejits out there who think it'll all be fine as soon as everyone returns from injury
think he's great

it's a cult. like trying to talk with flat earthers or climate change deniers
Most of those home defeats we had most of our players. The Leicester one we should have beat them anyway regardless of players missing. Even spam under potter beat them away.

I'm convinced Porro is exactly where he's told to be most of the time. Who's fault is that?

I don't watch all those teams games, but I watch every minute of ours.
There's been many times where we have had lady luck to thank for not conceding more. Bournemouth should have had more. City should have had 3 last night. There are other games where you just scratch your head and say "how did we not concede " or more often "how did we only lose by one goal?"

That may apply to those teams to, I don't know. But it definitely applies to us.
Porro v Villa I think first minute.
You could gala and a few other teams in Europa who missed a hatful.

There's a chart on Opta Stats that showed each time's average line (yards up field) and duration they held the press. Liverpool's was exactly in the center of the chart and Spurs were way out of sync with every other team in the upper right. Liverpool's pressing intensity is less and the amount of ground they cover is less. Spurs often will press just to be pressing, in situations where the other team has the advantage and multiple outlets.
Our pressing is crap. How often do you see team play the ball from their goalie out to defenders and within 5 passes are in our pen box. The other way round when we have the ball if a team presses us we shit it. Alternatively if a team gets back into shape then we look clueless and just pass the ball betw our CBs. Most of the team have disappeared up field expecting somehow the ball to get to them.

I was certain Ange was as good as gone after the Rangers game back in December. If you told me then he would still be here in March I would have been stunned. It's even worse now in real time. We have only minorly improved (that's if I am being VERY generous) and have no hope of winning anything with this embarrassing system and his stupid interviews where he talks total nonsense and gaslights fans and the media into thinking he has anything beyond a plan that isn't just 'AtTAck, LOLZ'. No decent team is losing against him over two legs and there are enough of those left in the Europa.

I now fear that not only will he see out the season, but that he will also be given a new contract and a third season to ruin. This club's ambition and attitude towards trying to compete is pathetic, and with this in mind I would have to agree with the sentiment that Postecoglu's tenure as manager is a sporting stain on the club's history.

This stretch seems like his last chance and best bet to make a statement. There are 3 more matches before that, Bournemouth-Fulham (A)- Chelsea (A) to be exact, but since they are all against top half teams I don't expect a great deal from them.

Soton are devoid of any hope and Wolves are not much better. Forest are coming back down to earth after outperforming some of their underlying metrics to such an incredible degree for months. Liverpool have already won the league, this match will most likely be totally insignificant for them. WH not only suck but also have nothing to play for, as they're comfortably over the relegation zone. Palace have been on a roll recently but I don't expect them to keep this form for another 2 months. A 6 match spell doesn't get much easier than this in this league.

His inability to put together wins has rightfully been beaten to death already, but like I said he can go on a run of some kind based solely on regression to the mean. How (in)competent he is as a top level manager is quite irrelevant here, even Mason won 4 out of 6 after inheriting Mourinho's mess a few years ago.

He'll put the pressure on Levy IF he goes on a run though. Unless Levy already has the successor lined up for next season, which I doubt, it is an open race where Ange is one of the participants. Then anything can happen based on how the rest of the league campaign pans out, including him getting another year.

He is not a dead man walking, as ridiculous as it sounds. Far from it.

It was obvious that Porro was going to be badly exposed the other night, particularly against Doku. We knew what would happen because time and time again, the same scenario has arisen with frightening regularity. This is why we saw the need for Spence to be played there. Ange’s solution appears to be, however, that he will continue to repeatedly operate in the same way until maybe one day something different may happen. Porro is no defender but doesn’t deserve to shoulder all the blame. The lack of coaching, or no coaching, that allows him to continually hover around the halfway line while his opponent occupies about five acres of space behind him is the major factor. Inevitably, when the opposition find their player in acres of space with a simple ball into that space, our midfield and defence pour back at chaotic Keystone Kop pace so that by the time the pass is made into our goal mouth no one knows quite where they are supposed to be.

At his press conferences or interviews, Ange is never really pressed on matters like this, thus allowing him to deflect on to subjects like injuries, players ages or how great he was in Japan or Australia.

I was surprised then after the City game when, for once, after seeing what has been so obvious to the majority of us all season, he was asked by Jonathan Pearce for MOTD, “Do you think you were a little too open on the right hand side of your defence where Doku was causing problems?”

I thought to myself — at last, Ange is going to finally explain this piece of tactical genius he adopts every game. I waited with bated breath for the pearl of wisdom to emerge. His answer was “Yeah that was coming because we were turning the ball over, I thought Pedro did a really good job but when you turn the ball over like we did in the first half you allow them to hit into those spaces and Doku is a very good winger and causes most teams problems but after that we handed it well.”

So now we have it. No more discussions are needed on why opposition forwards can operate in acres of space every week on our right hand side. As you were.
The q should be why is Porro further forward than our midfielders like v Villa. That is not a turnover issue. Besides we turn over the ball as there is fucking player in our half to pass to. The CBs have no options. The midfielders are beyond the oppo midfield. Porro is MIA and wide players are useless.

Chatting to my bro last night about Ange. Has to go imo. Can we really do a title challenge under this bloke next season. No chance. Bro was saying he needs all players back. Weve been shit since chelsea home 2023. He has to go.
