It doesn't help that there is a decent amount of historic evidence that with this club there often is a negative to be found, and doom lurking just around the corner...
It didn't "become" a reality, what Carragher was saying was the reality, it just took a while for people to cotton on to it because generally most fans simply see other teams' results.
We were playing badly against everyone, being pragmatic and getting points in the odd game where you don't play well is a good thing and a trait that Champions have, playing badly in every game and scraping wins is not a good thing, it is unsustainable, and that's what Carragher saw.

You can say that about most clubs TBH, this fanbase though buy into this 'Spursy' mantra and the negativity and expect the worst every time.
Depending on your personality you either do or you don’t. It’s a cesspit of hate generally so better to avoid it as much as possible.
I feel sorry for the ones that do get sucked into the rabbit hole.
Keeping busy and giving yourself zero free time is part of the key. But mainly it’s just the ability to blank it out and pay no attention.

I think fans tend to overdo it though.
I also think this negativity rubs back onto the club and thus lowered expectations amongst the fans...I mean we're already talking about how the next manager is going to fail after 18 months and we'll be back to square one.
I do agree that the club need to play it's part though and start to win things and not do stupid stuff which embarasses the fanbase however I just think that the fans are ready to buy into the negativity at every turn so much so that journos and aggregators have got wind of it and get easy clicks and engagement from winding up our fanbase, it's a bit of a vicious circle.
It definitely affected the mood and patience of the fans. That affects the team and manifests the reality. They know what they are doing when they use their platform to build these narratives

Only place he can't hide from direct feedback is stadium during the match and i get when he refers to something that happens at the stands, no problem with that.

Just looking at his stats. His Win % at Palace and Frankfurt is nothing special tbh, but his loss % is a little more interesting. He's at only 25% at Palace. AngeLOSS is at 37% in all games for us.
In the PL, this season only, Palace are at 30% we're at 51%
In terms of honours - won a real tournament in the Ropey League in 2022, unlike the Fosters Cup and Castlemain XXXX Title in Australia.
Not as interesting as the other main 3 we're linked to, but I'm not averse to it. He was in demand before Palace and, I believe, wanted by Bayern from Palace before Kompany.
