Tottenham's blind faith in Postecoglou is coming to an end

This stopped working a long time ago

It’s going to end soon. It is already ending, so scorched has the earth become. Tottenham have a Europa League tie in Frankfurt on Thursday night and Ange Postecoglou is lucky to be in charge for it. Even that is surely only because Spurs would prefer not to turn to Ryan Mason for yet another caretaker stint.

If belief, confidence and momentum are all crucial when travelling away in Europe, it would be astonishing if Tottenham qualified in Germany. This team is a mess. For all the dogma of the Postecoglou style, even that has fallen away now.

Tottenham play like a team that spends no time in midweek working out how to thwart an opponent’s threat. If “We’ll just focus on what we do” is the idea here, it doesn’t work either because nobody seems to know what the bloke next to them wants.

Wolves were competent; Tottenham were not. The timings of the goals in Sunday’s 4-2 defeat were instructive too, Tottenham twice conceding in the five minutes after they gave themselves some hope of rescuing a point. Even the good news comes laced with fear that it will merely be a prelude for instant calamity

Top 8 next year a huge achievement for whoever inherits this mess.

Liverpool
Woolwich
Chelsea
Man City
A. Villa
N. Forest
Newcastle
Brighton

Unfortunately all pretty tough sides for us these days. Without Europe we can definitely get ourselves in the top 6-8th places if we are on our shit, but it will take a very focused effort with a great coach. With the incredible investment that Villa and Forest are seeing, not to mention Newcastle, we are dangerously close to fading from European relevance :(

think our hope has to be a real coaching team who work with the players to improve them & no midweek football, the down side is when will our young players get game time ? ( Gray, Moore, etc)
Also playing midweek football will strain the playing staff at some of those clubs

So from what i read the general conensus is his job is untenable at the end of this season even if we win a cup and qualify for CL.

But on the other hand we're tired of finishing top 4 and having nothing to show for it every year.

To me it's clear.... the manager needs squad backing. You can't compete in a demanding league with 3 cup competitions and injuries with nobody of calibre to support.

Postecoglou is just the scape goat now for them to reset and give everyone false hope, there will never be real success and every manager will struggle.
He is not good enough even to be classified as a scape goat.

He is just dumb donkey.

Reading Roy Keane’s comments about the Man U players coming out in interviews after defeats giving soundbytes makes them sound like dishonest players (saying learned from mistakes, hurting after defeat) made me instantly think of us. Ours are the same. They give these interviews but does them losing really hurt them that much?

Anyone else expecting a Charge Of The Light Brigade outcome on Thursday?
I think this team is dead on its feet, some, who's confidence is on the floor, some who clearly have no belief anymore, some are just physically done. Losing as much as they have is exhausting, even more so without proper leadership.

Only thing that is guaranteed to be like a charge of the light brigade is another fuck up from management and the people in charge

The Lord Cardigan levels of stupidity was the point I was going for , should have added more context clearly

3 years of utter shit football is not worth one europa league. football is about winning, but its also about being excited by progress. no one is looking forward to match days, thats not what its about. ill be celebrating this cunts departure more than i would a europa league win, hes killed the love of it.

17 league defeats (and counting) in one year....a europa league win doesnt make that ok.

also WTF is even going on?? if by some miracle we do win the europa its in spite of this clown not because of him!!!!!!!

Nah I’d take the win of the cup. He’d be sacked by November anyway because we’d be bottom of the league. His replacement would bring some wins and the season turn out fine. But it’s not going to happen because there’s no way this side can win the Europa league under him.

The worst part of having this fraud as a manger is that if somehow we fluke a cup win, the smug c**t will be arrogant beyond belief, whilst presiding over the worst Tottenham team I’ve seen in all my years supporting the club.

A small part of me want us to bomb out of the cup just to finish this guy off and start a fresh next year. Can’t deal with much more of his deflecting and refusing to take any blame for the horrific job he has done

"Just look at the way he's lifting the trophy, what an arrogant tosser"

"First trophy in over a decade, just who does the smug cunt think he is"

😆

Nope. Players are not playing for this useless boss.

We’ll go out with a whimper and THEN Ange will be gone (silver linings).

The reality is that getting rid of him now MAY give us a short boost that will help us get through…but Levy won’t do that because he’s a tight cunt.
