Remarkable Ange Postecoglou omen that hints at big things for Tottenham Hotspur
The Tottenham Hotspur boss has been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent days despite winning the club's first trophy in 17 years

Spurs would seem a good place for him to hone his coaching skills. Ange would be an excellent mentor. Having Modric work with Bergvall and Sarr - wow!
Sounds like Mason may be headed out for a head coaching role at another club.

Sorry part of me just died at the idea of a man who conspired to finish 17th on 38 points and 22 defeats with the 9th highest revenue in the world having any wisdom to impart on a 6 time champions league winner about football.

He inspired them so much we became the first team in PL history to lose 22 and not get relegated. Say it out loud. WE LOST 22 of 38.Well, Ange knows how to keep a dressing room united and build the club 'family'. He knows how to inspire players to never give up, and he knows how to deliver on his promises - even if that means taking an alternative route.
Spurs have champions league; Spurs have a trophy. Ange did it in the only way that was possible given our injury issues. For that, he deserves praise.

Finishing 4th or 5th wouldn't have stopped those things from happening. That would be like arguing you can't do well in both competitions.Spurs were without a major trophy for nearly 20 years and had become a running joke. Our talisman Son has gone his entire career without a trophy.
We had to sacrifice the league campaign in order to focus on the brining a trophy to Spurs - with 100% certainty.
NET RESULT
1 Major Trophy.
A UNITED Squad, who have now tasted success. These players will give 100% to do it again.
2 fingers stuck right up Woolwich's Arse.
Our best players want to stay (Romero/Porro).
Ask yourself this. Had we finished 4th or 5th - would any of the above statements be true?
We had to prioritize the cups over the league. That was the right decision. We had to sacrifice the league campaign in order to focus on the brining a trophy to Spurs

I have the feeling that poster is a kid or something so I will stop making fun of him, but the irony in all of this is that Levy has only played himself by retaining Ange to the end of the year.He inspired them so much we became the first team in PL history to lose 22 and not get relegated. Such a fucking strawman that argumentWe had to prioritize the cups over the league. That was the right decision.
We did not have to play like abject shit in the league.
And even if you fully absolve Ange for the injury crisis, which you probably shouldn't, we put in dreadful league performances with full strength sides repeatedly this season.
38 points is a disgrace.
Three games into the season? Why?
We had to sacrifice the league campaign in order to focus on the brining a trophy to Spurs - with 100% certainty.
There's no argument about it- we literally couldn't, not with all the injuries and the shallow depth of talent and experience.
Even with no injuries the ceiling for this squad was around 5th.
Love how he said in his press conf that wherever he goes he gets them winning again and after he leaves they continue winning. I’m sure at Celtic it was only 1 year where rangers won the title under gerrard. It’s not like they hadn’t won anything for years. Rodgers, Lennon etc all won loads at Celtic and Rodgers continues to do so. I doubt this is all down to Ange’s 2 years there! Not sure I agree here. He tends to walk when he feels the job is done more often than not. He'd achieved pretty much what he went there to do at Sth Melbourne, Brissy, Melbourne, Yokohama, Celtic etc and moved onto the next challenge/rebuild so I don't think he'll do it here at all as he's just started the job. He's regenerated the squad, brought many of the youngsters through (many out of injury necessity) and won a trophy but knows that the next step is to make the side competitive in all comopetitions season long which he felt he didn't have the depth to do this season with the injuries etc. It's all well and good for people to suggest all teams have injuries, and they do, but it's the quality/experience of who comes in to replace the injured player that has a huge influence and Spurs just haven't had the depth behind the first line to really compete this season but with CL on offer and I'd imagine an even further reduce wage bill as a result of so many youngsters there is some room now to add the quality to offset injury losses as well as upgrade the squad overall. He'll want to stay to continue the process of making the side competitive everywhere now, and I think he will if he remains, whether he gets the opportunity is another thing.
Agree to some part but he has only played gray and berg mainly and that was through injury. All our academy players may as well leave as they ain’t seeing any game time under him. As the Brighton game it seems no one cared about why not play Mikey and Adeji? Give them a chance to show their talents. I still maintain the best goal we have s red is the one Adeji scored in the Europa. I have not seen or likely to see any of our wide players do a run like that and finish.Yep I agree.
My comment was more in the vein of what he did with the Socceroos because he felt he didn’t have the support from the federation, and if that’s a similar sentiment he has with Levy and the board.
Mind you his comments over the last few days, and in particular at the parade, suggest he’s staying on. Well he wants to, whether Levy see’s it that way.
He’s done what he was brought in to do so I can’t see Levy sacking him. Won a trophy, back in CL, blooded loads of youngsters, changed the style, changed the culture whilst dealing with an unprecedented injury crisis. We all agree about the league position, but when you look at it all in totality he’s done a pretty good job.
May be ok without them he has adjusted. But then what has happened in the league games?Just checking, do some people just look at the stats of the night merely regurgitate them, and forget context.
My memory may be shot, but if I recall correctly - Maddison, Kulu and Bergvall weren't in the middle of the park. So if they're not there - do you think other players play the same way? One soldier one, one solider out mentality.
But of course Ange isn't flexible...mmmm.... and cannot adapt to the current context of which players are available and being strategic in how to best manage that context for an outcome.
The bullshit narrative that he is naive , incompetent, inflexible that persists due to some hang up about where we finish in the table - when in the end 7-17th does not matter one jot, when it was about getting a trophy to reward cultural change.
Tell me you know nothing about football...
Onwards and upwards![]()
Well he was happy with the squad at start of season. He said it was good to handle 4 comps. He. Old have played Spence at RB or CB many times in first half of season but he chose not to. He played Archie at rb in many games. Can't agree with that at all. You had an 18/19 year old midfielder from the Championship with no experience playing as a starter in the backline because he was the best choice and and there's "many teams" with worse starters? Interested to know which clubs have worse starting CB's than a pairing of an 18 year old Archie Gray and Ben Davies? Can't imagine many swapping their two starters for that.
I meant the second one, mid October.
