Why would Frank join us? He’s got a good thing going at Brentford and makes only slightly less money than Ange.

So unless Levy doubles Frank’s wage - why would Frank join a club he finished 8 places above with much higher expectations that has a history of sacking managers?

We're a much bigger club than Brentford, bigger budget, better salary, CL football...no brainer really.

Ambition. Brentford can't be his personal ceiling. Maybe his national team.

Yeah, the players will virtue signal for a bit, but when it comes down to it, they’ll knuckle down.

I think Romero was going one way or another any way. The Little Argentina of Atleti is just too enticing for him.
They'll also know their place and try to get in [insert manager here]'s good books to cement their spot in the starting XI.

I remember that clip of Madders on the bench lamenting our style of play (I think it was to Sonny) - Ange seems to have their allegiance but his coaching has been godawful generally in the second half of this season. I can only imagine that players will actually enjoy being better coached, which basically every rumoured candidate for the job would offer.

Tbh if board sack him I think they have been smart letting the europa league hysteria settle down. Ange lost every game to gooners and chelsea btw. Shouting and arguing with fans. He will get a nice payout.
In 24 games against the top 12 we won 3, drew 2. Lost 19. Played 24…11 pts. Even lost 2 against the worst 3 teams in the league for years.
Leicester had a run of 15 games when they won one and lost 14 . Yes it was us they beat.
It might seem harsh but it’s the right thing to do.

To be fair to Howe he has done incredibly well to last as long up there as he has, and he seems to have a lot of buy-in with their fans. I was sure he would come in, save them from relegation, get them up the table a bit and get binned off (i expected it the summer just gone) for a sexier name to make them CL competitors, so for him to be going into a 5th season having got them in the CL twice and won a cup I don't think you can sniff at his achievements, one of the best English coaches in recent years for sure.

Disingenuous argument, anyone with half a brain can see a club like Tottenham Hotspur has a much higher ceiling than Brentford. Plenty of clubs tread water in mid table at PL level then get the soul ripped out of the team and go down within a couple of seasons, Damsgaard is already reportedly off to Real with heavy interest in Mbeumo, not hard to see why Frank might see a good chance to jump ship while his stock is high at a big club with lowered league expectations following a 17th placed finish.
Really I can't believe why I'd have to answer to a Tottenham fan why a manager might rather manage us than Brentford but there we go.
Just an opinion Howe is decent but not as good as everyone makes out. Has a ceiling. Poch outclasses him imo though.

Bar the 3 relegated teams this season why would any manager of any team want to join us? But guy on talksport Simon Jordon who’s decent insists we’re a very attractive proposition for any coach ? Conte & Mourinho weren’t that impressed but hey ho

We gonna play in the CL. That will be a huge draw for many managers now.
I do think that he's taken Brentford as far as they are willing to go. He more or less said it when asked about Mbuemo staying after the final game. "We are a selling club. If someone pays enough they will get him". Or something like that.

At some point he needs to try to take that next career step.

I guarantee the Ange-inners would be saying "Eddie Howe? No European experience, not a winner" if we'd hired him a few years back. Yet here he is, brought Newcastle a trophy, has them in the CL regularly, and they actually looked coached. They absolutely leathered Liverpool in that final.

Find someone at a lower level who the board genuinely believe could step up, and of course they can be a winner too with the right circumstances.

Come on man

Manager of Spurs Vs staying manager of Brentford.

You'd choose Spurs even if we were currently in the championship.

It's a much higher profile job for starts and the lure of managing a massive well known club with potential to be great is hard to turn down.

Brentford are awesome, but they'll be happy with staying in the Premier league for the next ten years at present unless they get major backing.

But what will be worse if he is kept on until November and we are then languishing bottom half and then everyone is giving him shit. If he goes now with some decency it will be better than later in the year. However, I'm still not certain sacking him for some managers mentioned will be enough PR wise for most fans. Eg. Frank who I like as a manager doesnt exactly get the pulses racing. I think Inzaghi or Poch is who it has to be and if they cant get them they will keep him until the November scenario unfolds.
And then what. Poch on the verge of the World Cup and Inzaghi might have another job.

Tbh Ange and the board have made mediocre managers look good. We had poch where we dismantled teams. Dubious as well whether Howe is as good as everyone makes out. Poch different class imo and not even in same conversation. Ok he won league cup but has bottomless pit.

I've always liked Howe and thought he was the real deal. Wanted him a while back for Spurs, and thought he'd be good for England too. He is Newcastle's Poch in a way. Firmly believes in the carrot as opposed to the stick.

That said, I may be wrong, but I still don't think Howe finishes top 5 or wins a cup in a season with European football. Poch was different class but again came up short tactically in some big finals and semis.

After producing our worst league finish in 48 years and our worst points total in 90 years they have some brass neck making any demands. They have it easy, never criticised no consequences to losing, none of those drills that the nasty man Conte made them do or the torture training from Poch. If they love him so much they should have shown it in the league in the last 18 months.
If these players kick off and push to leave.. Next to none of them are going to Real/Bayern and the like. For nearly all of them, Spurs is as big as gets. They'll chill out because theyll know that.
