So would 8th and no trophy be acceptable?

It would be progress. The most important factor is progress. It is a lot more about being able to see players improving, or good performances.

That's a big factor in why Ange has gone. Everything has been in decline over the last 18 months - performances including - and the EL was effectively something that was won with relatively poor/mid performances.

For example, if a bunch of players left in the summer and Frank got us to 8th with a bunch of academy promotions, keeping the squad fit, with a young improving side then that would 100% be a good season IMO.

So what is progress this season to you? Apart from keeping postecoglu?

What do you think Ange would've done this season to improve us?
Hold on sweet cheeks, I've not said anything about keeping Ange on.

You said - he is not the man to elevate us from here - so I asked if Frank getting us to 8th was elevating the club, which you said yes it was.

That's bollox. Irrespective of who is our manager next season, 8th and no trophy is taking us back 5 years, that's not even close to elevation!!

Has Ange ever won the Pl, the CL the FA or the CC

No

And those are the trophies we are in this season.

His EL win gives no grounds to believe he will win one of four much harder trophies this season.

Winning breeds winning

If you are sacking Ange because you think he can’t win the PL or the CL because he’s ONLY won the El, why would you hire Frank, who has won nothing?

If it was for a next level manager who you could say gives you a real shot at those 2 titles then fine but it’s not is it?

Ange Postecoglou is a likable figure and a great communicator, which bought him a lot of goodwill—but Spurs' league form simply wasn’t good enough. Despite heavy investment over two seasons, the team struggled with injuries and an overly aggressive style that left the defense exposed.

They finished 17th with 38 points—Tottenham’s lowest top-flight finish in nearly 50 years—and in many other Premier League seasons, that total would have meant relegation. While the Europa League win provided a bright spot, it papered over serious issues in the league.

Had they lost the final, would anyone still be “Ange-in”? Probably not. The excuses ran out. Wish him well, but it was time.
Your first line is totally wrong do you not remember him mumbling and staring at the floor?.
Rest is pretty good

I am starting to remember why I had you on ignore for so long before.

This post is bollox. Back on ignore for you.

I doubt either would win us a cup. Certainly these comps are beyond Ange

But Frank will get us to 8. Perhaps top 5 and into Europe. And that’s better than a relegation battle

There's no good time to part company with a manager - and it maybe that Ange had both a big personality and had won with the players the Europa League which is something all the players will have on their CV as a major event, and for some that will be their biggest achievement,

Whilst our league form, and acknowledging the effect of injuries such as rarely having our best two CB's playing together, meant a parting of the ways was probably inevitable, its clear from social media posts that a large number of the players are sending him messages of thanks and good will. And not just the ones we might have expected such as Romero - Van de Ven, Danso (who only joined in January so who only worked with Ange for 6 months), Richarlison, Bergvall, Porro and Solanke which I have seen, and I understand from other sites that Bentancur, Kulusevski and Johnson, and no doubt others. It reflects well on them all that the squad had developed a sense of camaraderie and togetherness which will serve us well next season if the new manager can leverage it.

So I'm hoping whoever comes in as manager has a big personality to lift the players and impress them with his tactics and training. That way we can progress

sir alex lost 6-3 to southampton and lost 16 league games early on in his united career,
yeah and they stuck with him because he'd achieved great things with an Aberdeen side who cost thrupence to put together compared to the Old Firm teams that he routinely beat in cups and leagues. 2 league titles and 2 European trophies. Loads of cups.

The Melbourne Muppets and being better than an awful Rangers team isn't quite the same
