I've said a lot about him, but at no point did it strike me that he'd lost the dressing room.

They were clearly playing for him.

The only problem was that they were playing for HIM.
IMO it’s pretty obvious the squad loved him because he almost never criticised them. Players hate criticism whether it’s valid or not, and I doubt Ange was giving them any, just excuses.

Poch wore thin on the players, despite the fact I’m sure most around at that time would say they played their best football under him, partially because of tactics (ew that diamond) but also because he made it clear that certain players wouldn’t get new deals or would be forced out post CL final if he stayed. Toby signed a new deal like the week after he left, and even though I’m proud to say I’ve still never seen a second of All of Nothing, didn’t Dier have that scene with Jose where they were acting like Poch was crazy for (rightfully) thinking Dier was shit? Or using examples at other clubs, Willian covered Conte’s face with a trophy emoji in a picture with him on Wembley’s pitch after winning the FA cup lol.

If I were Porro, I’d be coming out trying to save him too lol. Same way I’d be trying to save a boss that let me have 2 hour lunch breaks and let me leave before 5. Now he might not be allowed to spend half the game at RW.

I’m just so relieved that it’s finally over- I dreaded the thought that our never to be forgotten night in Bilbao might see us make the huge mistake of persevering with Ange. Upwards and onwards.COYS!!

Was he next to you while you slept?

If not the club marches on...
He was on top of him.

I know a lot didn't like his tactics and lack of flexibility but how do people feel about his ability as a motivator?

Seemed to be his biggest strength.
He couldn't motivate them enough to win games.

I don't buy him as this great motivator of men personally. How many easy goals did we see that were just lack of concentration, nobody at the back post, laziness/ball watching, easy set piece goals, soft goals, all the rest. Players who are highly motivated and engaged will tighten up those details.

We did not see any of that sort of motivation for 2 years until we were parking the bus in the second half of the Final. Players that night were highly motivated - by a trophy sitting within view. If Ange were a great motivator we would have seen that fight before.

In the final analysis, no matter what you tell people you are, you are what your record says you are.

Seems brilliant at it. He has lots of fantastic qualities. I loved his press conferences and the players clearly adored him. I found his failings were mainly due to his football philosophy/style being somewhat unfit for the reality of top level football. He was in his defence really unlucky.

When it worked, it was amazing but every game was played on a knife’s edge. I’m glad he is able to leave with his head held high. I’m also glad the club had the foresight to move on.

Disappointed, but we all expected this to happen.

All of the togetherness, momentum and euphoria from the cup final win has been immediately wiped from the dressing room and Spurs are back to square one.

Ive never seen such an outpouring of emotion from a group of players and, I expect Levy will be receiving a number of transfer requests in the coming weeks.

Just as we sacked Poch after getting us to champs league final - Levy now has $$$ in his eyes.

Ange will have no issue finding another job and like I have said, I fully expect him to be lifting the premier league title soon. In the short term.....it wouldn't surprise me to see him manging at the World Cup next year.

Ange gone
Romero gone
Son gone
Porro gone

Back to square one.
Not really ‘square one’. Son was on the wane / off anyway; Romero clearly has been trying to line up a move; Ange - good; Porro - ah, well, he wasn’t great when asked to defend under Conte so would probably find himself marginalised, anyway, by a coach who would like a defender to defend rather than cross a ball and roll on the floor.

You may find that a couple of training sessions with a better coach and they’ll change their mind. It’s hardly like they’ll be trapped on Alcatraz.

Unfortunately Frank has no experience in CL, not even Europe. And yes, back to top 6-8 with no trophies.
But Ange’s experience in Europe is of beating so-so sides (or losing to so-so sides) with an expensively assembled, massively underperforming prem team?

Would you rather have the coach who diligently prepares for every game, gives it the respect it deserves and then tries to implement a suitable plan; or a coach who states openly there’s no plan b etc.. in any other workplace he’d be out.

It may be that Frank (or whoever) will be shocking in CL, but then I’m trying to remember when the last time we won it was? And when did Woolwich last win? And how did Newcastle get on last time? Ange-ball couldn’t even beat Leicester last season - how’s it gonna get on against RM, Bayern etc.

so motivated the players lost 22 games. He is probably the worst motivator ever.

In the cup, the players didn't need any motivation. The players wanted it and a dog could have managed the team there and then.

I don’t agree, it wasn’t motivation that killed us off. I’m able to give him credit that he deserves even if I’ve been Ange out for the entire season. Those players busted a gut playing his high press, play it out from the back football.

I see his style of play which gives the opponent too many high percentage chances, the muscle injuries potentially caused by overtraining, and refusing to use coaching methods which appear to be industry standard these days as the cause for his sacking.

I agree with your reasons that he had to go because of his league results in his second season.

However having so many of your starting eleven out injured for so long not being able to build any momentum because of that for example absolutely reduces the likelihood of getting top 6 and winning a trophy. Context.

Hopefully there'll be far less injuries and the squad gets some experience and depth led by more pragmatic manager at the helm.
It’s his daft kamikaze tactics that are largely responsible for those injuries! 🤷🏻

Fucking love that this is now in general football.

Hopefully all his fucking cultist fanbois are locked in here like General Zod in the phantom zone.
