Great to read so many diverse views in particular how peeps remember things differently....where we place managers in our lists is much the same as the way we choose the players we like.

Neill tops the shit list for me along with that other DGC in the blue overcoat and fingers in the petty cash till. Gross figures as the most bizarre appointment and both Ramos and Ange won us cups but were responsible for league results that made their positions untenable.......you decide.

I agree, most great managers wouldn't have lost thise games but some very good coaches who aren't great, wouldn't have got the emotional side right and won that final...
It's about balance, you can be elite at just one thing and get a few great moments out of it, but it won't be sustained. An all rounder might not reach the same highest peak, but likely have more sustained success.

Ange could have been a great manager for us, if only he'd seen the value of putting together a really strong coaching team.

I guess it all depends on how you define success

Reading about LAFC's interest in Ange.

It's weird, I seem to recall some on here claiming he'd take over at City or PSG and win the Champions League 10 times in a row.

For all the talk about his lack of tactics and his stubbornness and so on, there can be no doubt that Ange played a significant and crucial part in bringing us a trophy.

This documentary proved that.

Those who denigrate him give away more about themselves than diminish his achievement.

We move on but the guy should forever be respected by all Spurs fans.

I stopped denigrating him after Frankfurt away. My criticism was always about the defence domestically and holding him accountable to the words he said in the media. He won my respect by delivering a trophy. I judged it as a more successful season than the board.

I can't watch the documentary because I think it was an unreasonable shameless act to sack him and simultaneously continue to celebrate his victory.

It was cruel, but football is cruel and the competition never stops. Judge the club on whether it succeeds going forward, not if it gave Ange what he "deserved".

Ange himself would say the club should still celebrate the achievement, as I'm sure he is personally, and he's right. It was a big deal and we should be proud.

I said it was an unreasonable shameless act. I think it was stupid more than it was cruel, but cruelty is also stupid and has little to do with healthy competition. I've already judged the club are unlikely to finish top 4 and/or win a trophy next season without him.

Ange said not to worry about him because he is paid off either way. That isn't the part I care about. I care about the fact that we sacked our most successful manager in 41 years who promised an even better third season.

I don't have any sentiment towards Ange at all. It would have been a ruthless decision to keep him. Which manager would Leicester players prefer - Ranieri or Rodgers? They ought to have risked relegation with Ranieri because they went down without him.

Well if it was stupid then celebrate the trophy as the best we're going to get!

Either way, don't let manager bullshit dim the joy of a European trophy.

So happy this fraud has gone. Thanks for the trophy, but as someone who goes to the lane regularly as a form of pleasure, he ruined most of the year for me.
Actually turned me into an alcoholic as I couldn't watch the tripe he served up sober. Fun times.
