That final looked like a relegation 6 pointer, not like the final of any sort of tournament competition

It’s because outside the elite in the CL, the mid to bottom half premier league sides completely blow their European peers out the water. Even more laughably so when we look at the wage bill of a Bodo or AZ compared to Spurs.

So of course when United & Spurs make it their everything for the season there’s a good chance you get to the final. And then it was just a shit off between two teams in 15th and 17th.

Just checked and I'm pretty certain it doesn't say that on the Trophy. 🤷‍♂️

No, but everyone in Europe knows it. Nobody is looking at 2025 Spurs & United and thinking this is top level European footy.

This year it’ll be something laughable like Bologna Forest or Porto Bologna. Yeah the real A listers. The teams who when they make a CL group dunce out.

After further deliberation, I'm fine with them bringing Ange back. If we are certain to go down as many believe, perhaps we can finally end this "Ange was our Moses and we left him on the West Bank of the Red Sea" nonsense. If he's sacked twice and goes down with this ship maybe his supporters would stop being so... them

And yet one of those teams is now in the top 4 and the other about to be relegated.

You got what you wanted and now we're down. Those of who actually like winning Trophies at least have that memory to take with us.

Ange would’ve won absolutely fuck all this season because there was no soft trophy to aim for. Like he won nothing first season. He won a trophy because it was the soft option.

United are in the top 4 because they sacked their crap manager and made a better choice of replacement whilst signing top tier talent. We’d be in a similar position had we sacked ange and done the same.

I can't stand the thought of him as a manager, but I was pondering the other day, and I actually would be tempted to bring him back if we go down.

Managing Spurs in The Champo would be right up his alley, and I could see him having a more successful time of it there than anyone else we would be likely to bring in if we went down.

Plus, he started the descent, so only fair he sorts it out.

I've explained this to you before but it bears repeating: it's precisely because we are so shit that makes the Trophy win that much sweeter.

Those who thought our problems were all wrapped up in the manager have led us to catastrophe. It's just a simple fact now.

You got what you wanted and the Club bought Frank and Palinha and sold Son. And now we are where we are.

At least I have a brilliant memory of Bilbao to take with me to Lincoln away next year 🤷‍♂️

Straw man as usual. No one claimed this.

Darkly humorous possibilities, aren't they? He gets done over by championship clubs trying to run his system lacking the horses needed to pull the cart just like in the PL, and being that the champ is so competitive now

Or we load up for an immediate promotion, he's got the Celtic situation replicated where he's playing men against boys, but then we get back up and we're stuck with him again.

These are things only Spurs supporters have to think about, which forms of torture are the more complex and exquisite sorrow.

This club has refined pain and failure into something almost philosophical. We generate for ourselves the characteristic weary, preemptive grief. This club has trained its fanbase to expect the trapdoor, so when it opens we just nod and say of course.

Fans of many clubs know this feeling - loving something that reliably lets you down - that's universal. But when it's us they can all laugh because it isn't them this time.

I got what I wanted and then Ange went and failed somewhere else again. Us continuing to fail doesn’t equate to ange good, amazingly. I know that bit of logic is a tough one for the evangelists, but managers who have built decent teams usually don’t lead them to 17th in their final season and then see that team get relegated the season after.

Firstly managers don't "Build the team" the DOF does that. We know who Postecoglou wanted and who he actually got from our wonderful owners. The fact he overachieved despite that is a plus for him. Obviously.

Secondly logic would suggest that one manager keeps a team up (and wins a Trophy/semi-final of another Cup) despite finishing 17th - then that same team gets relegated bunder (several) new managers - then the problem is NOT the managers. At least certainly not the trophy winning one, right?

Thirdly, Keith Burkinshaw took us down with a much better squad, relative to the talent we can boast today. Brought us back up and went on to a pretty decent manager for us - especially if you're the mad type of cunt who likes European Trophies of course.

All of which is to say I warned you the grass wasn't going to be greener. And it most certainly wasn't.

Why are we still talking about this idiot..?

Because this:

Also that Trophy is real unlike the fantasy world you live in when you wanted him sacked, and thought we'd be:

Playing for 2nd or 3rd is more realistic imo..I don't think we're quite up to Liverpool standard but we can certainly beat Chelsea and Woolwich. Definitely a CL place...

So if it's all the same to you, your opinion on this matter counts for very very very little.

Managers are responsible for setting the tone and ethos at a club. Which is why Slot won a league first season because the players were still in Klopp mode. The winning mentality was still there. Ange didn’t overachieve, managers who overachieve don’t get sacked at the end of their overachievement and then end up managing Forest. You are objectively wrong on this and the football world agrees with me; not you.

Ange set the ethos of the league doesn’t matter at the club. He turned us from a club which expects to challenge for Europe to a club on the periphery of fighting relegation. The next step was always relegation batting, definitely if he stayed as all the indicators show that he was sliding & getting worse and worse in the premier league.

Forest could win the EL and get relegated. It would have happened to ange if he had to fight in this relegation battle and had no Son or Maddison to score goals with. Any premier league side outside the very worst teams has a shot at the EL, it is exceptionally bad.

I like European trophies of real value.

Because sadly he has a literal cult behind him who are positively salivating at the idea of us getting relegated so they can claim it’s justice for sacking Ange or that it somehow proves Ange was amazing.

They’ll never let it die. It should just be sealed off forever.

Unlike many on here I go to every home game, and have to pay handsomely for the privilege. Asking for the people who made much of the previous two seasons a misery on here because of their derangement to show some fucking accountablility for stuff like this:

Lol he's so much better than Ange it's not even funny. The scale of improvement is ridiculous.

An actual coach doing actual coach stuff. Amazing.

Is not "salivating", it's righteous fucking fury.
