I think where Postecoglou went wrong, and where his supporters on this forum are going wrong is, let's say for example when we played Tamworth, none of their defenders are even as good as Ben Davies, Archie Gary or any of our other stand ins. Most of the problems this season have been a result of the players having no faith in a manager that had no faith in them.
There are things about Postecoglou which divide opinion, but one thing that is settled in my mind is that his man-management, motivational skills and emotional intelligence are elite. That doesn't mean players won't lose focus, but it does mean they will fight till the last and push themselves beyond their physical limits.
If it truly was VdV and Romero that master-minded the Europa win, one wonders why they simply didn't take over this season and avoid us becoming relegation candidates- surely its easier for them to coach staying up than winning a European trophy given we've stayed up for every season of the Prem, but never in that time won a European trophy?
However Tamworth sat back, played a shrewd match and could have won in 90 minutes, in the end they just ran out of energy.
So regarding our team with a depleted defence, we needed to be like Tamworth and be clever with the weaker than usual defence, but better than Tamwowth's all the same. Instead we kept charging forward and got ripped to bits. Just like we did when we were down to 9 men vs Chelsea.
And you think that's good management, well that's fine, but it's just an opinion. 22 loses is a fact.
