I think the general standard is more to the point. Feels like there is less top players. Far less entertainers. National teams feel like they’re a lot less stacked other than maybe one or two, and none of the club teams across Europe seem as strong as they were 10 years ago or so.

Maybe just nostalgia. Game is a lot more fitness/athleticism focused now and it’s left less scope for individual genius.

Teams are so organized now and have such few weak points that the worlds best players can’t dominate at the same level.

A player like Haaland can dominate in a perfect setting where he has 10 world class players around.

But even if you put prime Messi on a mid table side, he’d struggle to carry them himself.
 
I definitely need to be sectioned as I'm looking forward to this. My friend's son, who will be five in the next week or two, is taking part in Chirpy's parade before the game.
If we can replicate the second half of recent games then we might get a result!!

Yeah it kinda sucks tbh. Very effective and all, but viewing wise I do feel like we’ve lost something. I mean how many genuine entertainers are there in world football right now?

Lots of very effective players, little in the way of players who get bums off seats or regularly try to pull off something magical.

Where’s the damn mavericks I ask !!

If Lids play as they have of late , high intensity & closing down , I feel we’re in for a rough afternoon but on a positive note their defense is poor.
