Match Another pissing game we won’t turn up to, have to suffer Emerson again and hope Kane or Deki save us - AKA Leeds at home, 3pm, 12th November.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I want to know where the performances (fighting back for a win) comes from.

Is it the coach and team talk? Or the players genuinely not taking the fact they’re getting embarrassed.

I think this is the key to the puzzle as it’s all so fucking bizzare.

Yet oddly appropriate for Spurs.
Said it before it’s inspite of conte rather than bcos if him. As we generally play so shite it can’t be down to him we recover sometimes.

I'd love to know what happened over the summer because something did thats for sure. We added 6 players and look like a rabble. Basic tactics rumbled? Over trained?
No coaching from what I can see. When we are chasing a game it’s just all hands to the pump no real tactics. This guy is stealing a winning. We can’t even defend and his supposed to be a defensive coach. How many have we shipped in recently. Ffs if your gonna play 8/9 defensive players make sure you actually defend properly and keep it tight. We are like the Red Sea. Every time they attacked they looked scoring. Whereas we created f all in open play generally. So they nullified us easily.

Hmmm I don’t agree. To say a team should win an international tournament and that if they don’t it’s down to the coach… hmmm no team has more than a 20% chance of winning a tournament. Teams that win always have knife edge moments.

Spain’s great squads had luck too…
2008 - best Italy on penalties in QF
2010 - won with a goal in the 116th minute just after Robben missed a sitter
2012 - won on penalties in SF

France…
2016 - lost to a 109th minute goal in a game they dominated and had twice as many shots on goal
2020- lost on penalties having had over twice as many shots and hit the post and cross bar (xg 3.5 - 1.97)

These things are won on fine margins… if Spain had lost on penalties twice and Robben scored a goal he scores 9/10 then Spain win nothing. And they were still the best team.

Anyway… we won’t agree because:
1) im unbelievably biased
2) you’re not recognising that international football doesn’t afford the opportunity to construct great sides. Can you think of a flair side that’s won a major tournament? Tournaments are won with a solid base, good squad harmony, a few difference makers going forward, and a good dose of luck. Most teams maximise the counterattack.

The Italy team that won the last Euro’s wasn’t passive/reactive and played some good football, and they didn’t have the player resources Deschamps has had. Likewise the 2014 WC winners Germany, who played some very proactive football. The Spanish team team that won WC and Euros 2010/12 played totally proactive football.

For a renowned defensive coach, it's strange, how, he can't seem able to organise the team to defend better.

We got away with that game today, it was a mess in so many ways. But at least we got Kulusevski back and being brilliant again, and Bentancur is maintaining his good form. It was very important to end this half of the season on a positive and maintain the gap to 4th, but man alive we have so many fucking issues to resolve. We need a couple of signings in Jan for sure to add some more quality and Conte needs to rethink some things over the break, especially his bizarre persistence with Royal.

I didn’t watch the game as couldnt get a stream, but I’ve just watched the highlights aka goals. I’m not getting the whole Dier hate from the goals conceded and assume there was other poor defending that makes our supporters so irate.

Leeds Goal #1 - he was exactly where he should be. Somerville collects the ball with pace. Blame for the goal probably rests with Royale who takes a second to realise Somerville is running hard with the ball or PEH for the wimp tackle / marking just before the pass to Somerville.

Leeds Goal #2 - was clearly Lenglet fault. He wandered up the pitch leaving two attackers 5 yards behind him. Even if you say that the backline should have been level, that is surely Lenglet fault as the CCB to marshal the defence?

Leeds Goal #3 - Doherty is up in centre midfield when the ball is played to Rodrigo. Between him and Sanchez letting Rodrigo get away from him is where the fault lies

Im not sure Dier could have done more on any of those. Also Lloris didn’t have any obvious errors that led to goals.

I wonder if TFC gets a bee in their bonnet with certain players and trots the same agenda out each time, regardless of fault?

ps. Royale is shite and deserves all he gets here.

Mostly agree with you but Royal Dier and Sanchez are shite!

Make all the excuses that you want but they’re not PL players
Davies and Doherty are squad players at best

Until we recognise this and do something about it we’ll always be in this position regardless of who is managing us

Conte is highlighting this by constantly using them

Spain played tiki-taka like Citeh are trying to replicate, but where Spain had the nationals to pull it off because they had some amazing players, Citeh just buy the gaps.

Caught the highlights as I didnt get to watch this due to having some house stuff to do that seemed more productive than torture.

My thoughts:
Dier terrible on the 1st goal. Did not get the right angle at all. Not great on the 2nd either… it’s not his man but he is holding him onside. Maybe he can regroup after the WC but we can’t carry him making errors every week.

We really should have been called for a foul on our 1st goal. Lenglet hits Meslier way before the ball is there, otherwise Meslier gets a way better punch on it. It evened up as it looked like we were fouled on the 3rd goal.

I thought lloris was worse on the 3rd goal than the 2nd. The 2nd is closer to him, true, but it’s a great strike low and with power and it’s a difficult to read shot being a volley from an awkward ball in. The 3rd one his angle is off and he gives too much far post.

Kulusevski looked dominant. He’s so clever in getting past players. He created the 2nd and 4th goals.

Thank god I didn’t have to watch Royal touch the ball at all as these were just highlights.

Royal was bad

Really bad
