yea its going to be someone like this. no matter what this is still a huge opportunity for a lot of managers who want to prove themselves. that is why this fraudster is here. forget the nagglesmans and all that, we need someone whos hungry to prove themselves and actually understand the game.

I have never understood Levy's criteria aside from hiring a manager to play "the Spurs way". That was was last seen under Burkinshaw boardering on some fifty years ago, half a fucking century. And i will give anyone credit for mentioning Venables, Redknapp, Pleat and Poch) but i am talking about sustained success.
He then hires Jose and Conte managers so far removed from "the Spurs way" as you could get, anti-football almost, but winners of Championships, and Cups. What could go wrong?
Levy to me just seems to like a kid in a sweet shop when hiring a manager, he goes for the brightest wrapper, biggest packet, and a sweet that everyone would want and fuck the calories.
He needs to look at the likes of Brighton, Leverkusen, Reims, and Sporting and look for younger up and coming, managers with fresh ideas and methods. Burkinshaw was one of those back at that time and that didn't work out too bad did it?
agreed, needs to do some actual research now and get a younger manager whos more into touch with modern football.
weve gone from one extreme to the other in mourinho/conte/nuno to this guy. how about someone who actually wants to balance the team out properly and adapts to different situations.

Re Tottenham he basically said we played well, not much wrong with our attack against a very solid Woolwich defence; maybe Spurs should have hoofed a few more crosses into the mixer and hoped for the best; Solanke should have shot quicker after that high turnover. Defensively he said Vicario should be more commanding of his box from corners.
Other than that it was just a love-in re Woolwich, which made it really hard to watch
As long as it is not another defeat to the likes of Fulham or even Coventry. No Top 6 side other than us in the Europa. MU were 8th and the league table after 4 games does not count.
If I recall correctly he was relegated in his first season and only clinched promotion on the final day of his 2nd ending up 3rd. That would have earned him a sacking nowadays and he did not win anything until a few years later. Think what would have happened if this forum was around in those days? A poll to sack the Manager would have had overwhelming support.
The funny thing is that many on here threw words like "dinosaur" around when describing 2 coaches who have proven themselves at the highest levels.
Mourinho is only 2 years older than Ange.
Conte is 4 years younger.
How can they possibly be dinosaurs of the game when Ange isn't? They're all from the same era.
And realistically, there's no more attractiveness to possession for possession sake, so we're no better to watch now.
Often under Mourinho and Conte we'd get a lead and have something to hold onto.
Under Ange, it's tedious as fuck watching us trying to get a goal. We rarely look like scoring and goals often come out of absolutely nowhhere rather than well crafted moves that look practiced on the training ground.
Different week and it feels like it reminds me of a different manager. I have to say at the moment it all feels a bit AVB, possession no real cutting edge but this time no Bale to spank one in from 30 yards. I remember after one shit game after we'd been booed off he was getting tetchy with an interviewer arguing that we'd been good and starting reeling off possession and other stats like the fans just couldnt compute what a genuis he was.

So many fans on this forum have zero patience. Cry out for a rebuild, for a manager to come in and play good football and build something.. but the moment it gets difficult "sack him now, he's not good enough, never should have got the job"

Ange is going nowhere, and rightly so. He wants to be here, he wants to succeed. You're making out that we're playing shite football and haven't played well, when in actuality we've played well and just haven't put the ball in the net. If that's on the manager then the players are getting away with it (again)
Grow a pair and stop crying the moment it gets tough. Arteta got 3 seasons, and now they're reaping the rewards for letting him get his vision across. Have some patience and back the guy for fucks sake.

You really think some of our fans have the patience for a young manager? They turn on any signing of a young player from an unknown/lesser club instantly.
If we'd have hired the now Brighton manager, this place would be up in arms. The fans are a massive part of the problem, they just don't want to admit it.

I agree that the cycle has to change, but some of us - myself included - are pretty sick of shit results. I'm allowed to think that the guy isn't right for us, as are others.
The trend of results going back to last season - with an almost fit squad - are dog shit.
I'm not shouting at the telly "ange out" or screaming from the terraces when I go to games, and of course ultimately I want the team to do well. Do tell me based on our current form whether that comes under "doing well" or "making progress". We've lost 33% of all league games under him, and lost 7 of the last 11.
Then look at our next run of fixtures. And tell me to be patient lol.
All the previous managers Ange is being compared to had Kane, Son in his prime and Conte had a Ballon d'Or like Kulusevski.
I get that it's just my opinion, and I'm perfectly acceptable of you having your own. However, any manager that lost the best player the club has ever seen on the dawn of the new season, had to implement a whole new style on to a team and deal with a injury crisis after 10 games (granted they were fit again from Feb time).
Last season I consider a big step. 5th was an improvement on the year before, and we saw the team playing football we wanted them to. Ange isn't going to be for everyone, but is a 7th manager in 6 years really the answer? What if that manager isn't to your fancy either? We're becoming like Watford!
We needed to get a world class attacking player in, since Bale and Kane have both gone we don't have that player anymore, it sure as hell ain't Maddison. We don't have someone that can do something special, apart from Porro with the occasional long shot that bangs in.

Funny thing is that 2-2 against Woolwich was imo the best performance in any game under him and probably the one time i thought we had something, we were excellent. All the others have been dreadful.
Utd, City, Woolwich, Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Newcastle would all knock us out domestic cups.
Utd, Roma, Porto, Lazio, Lyon would all knock us out the Europa.
Don't get your hopes up.
