Manager Antonio Conte

We had a manager who was good but could never make that final step.
We had a manager who was a serial winner back in his day, but according to people here was on a decline.
Now, we have a manager who has both of the positives, but none of the negatives, and the fans here still think it's his fault that the team is not performing.

Meanwhile the common denominator are the shit that are thrown on the pitch, and the shit that recruits the shit that is thrown on the pitch.

There are 2 explanations why Conte isn't working:
- Either the squad is shit.
- Or he's not trying because the squad is shit and he won't get the investment he needs.

Guess what, on both points it's not his fault.

Conte can/will move on and continue to win things, while we're still going to be stuck watching Sessegnon struggle to trap a ball, Dier never stepping out to make a challenge, Son running into dead ends and wonder what manager can finally unlock the potential of these players. (Bit harsh including Son there, but his current version is utterly painful to watch).
 
Most fans won’t separate issues, and make it either/or. Many of the issues at the club are where big bad Levy deserves the ire. Conte 22/23 though also definitely needs to take a lot of flak, and assume responsibility for what we’re seeing on the pitch.

The collapse on the pitch can’t really be down to not doing enough in the transfer market. We did have something that was working at the end of the last season, had got results and got performances. Injuries haven’t helped, other teams might do more in the market, but when taking those foundations and adding a new CB, LWB, RWB, CM, and CF to the mix, all solid enough signings, most were more than satisfied and thinking might not be the perfect team still but we should be building on last season and had enough to be pushing on, more consistent performances, cementing top four, looking upwards, etc. Plummeting performances and results weren’t predicted.

Plenty of other teams have managed to springboard from last year, and look well placed to pounce on City and/or Pool going off the boil. The obvious being the lot down the road, whose main signings were a couple of Man City rejects and they’ve dealt with last season’s kick in the teeth in extraordinary fashion. Newcastle have hardly bought an allstar XI but have taken their upturn of last season into this. Even United have sorted themselves out quickly and got some form going. This was all still eminently possible for us this season, perfect squad or not.

We could obviously have better tools available for the job, but when basically everyone on the pitch looks shit scared of making a mistake or doing anything purposeful or with any risk, completing simple passes is a torturous effort, the attacking game is so basic, and, most importantly but doesn’t get talked about enough, our defensive efforts have become shocking – less effort, much less structure and organisation, really passive and our “weaker” players are now exposed much more when they weren’t last season – then that’s on either what they’re being asked to do, or the general culture/atmosphere inhibiting them. You can count on one hand the number of good halves of football we’ve had all season, and we’re in mid January now. That’s got to be on the manager. If he’s given up he should go now, if he hasn’t then he needs to take care of his own primary remit because any complaints over “lack of resources” etc. become moot, to me at least, if you’re doing a piss poor coaching job yourself.

Levy is ultimately at fault but it because he has no plan on the football side of things.

Conte is not innocent though he settled for Lenglet because he did not want to sign players with potential and did not like Botman. He wants proven players but proven players come at a premium and the proven players he did get he does not have a clue how to use them.

The fact is Conte is not innocent and I do not think he ever intended to sign an extension to his contract. The fact he is not going to commit means he is in auto pilot. He has said he was happy with the performances against Woolwich and Villa he looks like a man that does not give a shit.

The fact is Mourinho and Conte are short term options and even shorter if you do not back them properly. The fact these are the two managers we are asking to squeeze what little is left out of the squad shows how clueless Levy is when it comes to Football.

Wow, your ignorance and lack of knowledge is amazing. I never wanted Conte because of his style of play and his demands. You were probably jizzing over another ex-chav manager coming in to rob us.

I'll smile when Spurs are moving in the right direction with a plan for going forward and progressing. I'll smile when I see a manager playing good football and nuturing a great team spirit. I watched a video of Dele's best moments on Youtube last night and the difference in team spirit between then and now is staggering.

Now if you are happy just supporting a manager over the team, I definitely will smile when we improve because Conte will have gone and you will have gone to whatever team's forum he now manages.

Literally anyone that thinks we're better off without Conte is mad.
He not only stopped the megarot from last season, he cleaned it up and came out sparking clean.
Unfortunately, without the tools, the rot keeps growing and getting worse and worse.

He is part of the rot this season he downed tools months ago. He is just trying to rehabilitate his image in the eyes of his next employers. Levy does not do enough but thinking Conte is innocent in this is ludicrous.

Which is fine and I'm not arguing with it - but changing him isn't going to make the shocking number of shit players infesting our squad better.

If anything, any new coach is likely to want to assess them himself first, prolonging the misery.

Yes this really isnt either or. Levy the main culprit because we've been rotten for 5 years because of his inept decision making. But the football this season is dreadful. Absolutely nothing to like about it, no player bar perhaps Bentancur has improved.

Who goes behind in 11 of 13 games for gods sake, 4 home defeats out of 5, when was the last time that happened? The last 10 league games have produced 13 pts, worse than Nunos 15 pts from his 10 games. The wins are against Everton, Leeds, Bournemouth and Palace. 3 relegation candidates. Woeful.

Is he a winner? Really he has won all his titles in Italy apart from one title at Chelsea where he spent the 3rd most but had the second most expensive squad behind United who signed Pogba for £89m that summer. That is the only time as a manager he has won without Giuseppe Marotta building the team. He also has an absolutely terrible record in the Champions League. Stop acting like he some god of management.

Won the FA Cup the next season

Won the Italian title with Inter when Juve had won it for like 10 years straight

Took us from a horrible state to the Champions League and a run of form that could be title worthy.

Clearly he's lost interest, fuck, most of the fans have too. But that's from the top. That's a coach who was coerced into a role he didn't really want, probably lied to and is now just waiting for the contract to end.

What everyone is saying is that it won't get any better because we change him. Same players. Some upper management. Some problems.
Actually, same players who are all getting older. You can't coach that out of players no matter how good you are.

Our players can't do it though. Poor passers, poor touch, poor vision, poor tactical awareness. It's endemic all over the pitch.
Kane and Kulu are the only ones who actually can play football. IE, can pass, shoot, cross, tackle, position themselves, make runs, pass into space.
The rest are just athletes at best.

this is the problem. the same set of fucking losers have been allowed to loiter about for far too long. they need to be cut off and dumped ASAP. only one whos been here more than 5 years who should be allowed to stay is kane. the rest are not good enough and carry with them a loser mentality that brings everyone down.

lloris and dier need shifting asap, you build from the back and when you got them pair of muppets there you are bang in trouble. to be fair to the pair of them they are both well aware that they are the problem too, they are punching and they know this you can see it in the body language and facial expressions. play forster from now on, lenglet CCB and davies LCB, vital you keep these two out the team.

When Conte's appointment comes to an end, he can simply say he did the best he could with the squad of players that we have. it seems to be that his opinion is that we overachieved last season finishing 4th.

He did not over achieve though he had Son and Kane at the top of their game. When he utilised his tactics completely and did not work with how Son and Kane were used to playing, Son went to shit and Kane has Disappeared into being just a goal scorer.

Levy is the root cause of everything but I am bored of Conte and the fact he thinks he is doing us a favor just being at Spurs.

I do not know what it is but the fire has gone from Conte. Too many games I see a passive man on the sidelines with his arms crossed this season at the start this man wanted to kick every ball would berate every missed pass now nothing. Maybe the deaths that have happened around him and the fact his family still live in Italy are the reason or maybe Spurs just suck the life out of a manager. It happened to Mourinho, Poch and now Conte.
