Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Second half of this evaded those circling all the quotes so far.......

He's proper pissed at the players....... "Why must the manager and the club take the blame?"

That still makes his position untenable though, surely? Can hardly imagine the players being willing to play for him after he has publicly slammed them? Even if it is deserved

"Tottenham's story is this - 20 years there is this owner and they never won something. Why?" Conte said.

Is the full quote for context.

I think he's challenging Levy more than blasting him. Basically saying its them or me. And he's saying that because he 100% knows that the board is going to pick the players over him.

Whole thing's a mess.

I don't disagree with a single word Conte says.

I guess I just disagree with a lot of this. We shifted out a LOT of players that we spent a LOT of money on, at Conte's request.

Ndombele, Lo Celso, Rodon, Winks, Reguilon, Gil, Spence, Doherty, etc. are all not here because Conte didn't want them here. You won't get me saying most or any of those are decent players, but it's just simply not possible to get rid of every single player in the club in 1-2 windows because the manager doesn't fancy them.

We brought in a lot of players specifically for him as well, some of which have been big mistakes.

You can talk about Hojbjerg, Dier, etc. but those seem to be players that Conte LIKES and WANTS to play. They are literally nailed on starters for him.

Again, you can quibble with me on some of the details, but to act like the club didn't do at least a decent job of trying to make it work for Conte is silly.

There's a lot of things not right at the club, the players and owners included. But Conte failed at HIS job, a job he is paid a ton of money to do.

But whoever is the manager will fail. That’s the point really isn’t it.

They're all not here because they're crap footballers who no manager would want. No other fucking club wants them as well, hence why they'll be back in the summer after nobody will pay the fees. It's nothing to do with the manager not "fancying" them, NOBODY fancies shit footballers .. because they're shit.

Conte plays these players because he has no choice. Who is our alternative to Dier or Davies? Lenglet? Good god he's awful too.

We did a half-arsed job, just like we usually do, when really the whole squad needs gutting and starting over again. And the solution was never even to go for Conte (I'm no fan of his) but a total reboot. Levy's not brave enough for that though so he went for a short-term plaster over a gaping wound.

The problem is that the plasters peeled off now and the wounds fucking infected. Conte's outburst is just a sympton of everything wrong with the club. As much as he's done wrong he's an ambitious, successful manager at a club who completely lack those qualities. So of course he's pissed off.

We can say Conte "failed at his job" but where were we in the years leading up to his arrival? Where will we be when he leaves? In the same type of situation I bet, because the problem goes ALL THE WAY TO THE DAMN TOP.

If we had actually spent that 150 million warchest on Conte's first choices I don't think we would be here now. The lack of support brought the worst out in him and the players so no one looks good ultimately. But this all stems from lack of FOOTBALL ambition from the owners.

As much as I want him to go, he's absolutely right.

The culture at the club is rotten from the top, complete acceptance of mediocrity.

This 100%

Said it months ago when the pressure was on Conte.
The club is just so content with 4th place, it just ends up seeping into the foundations of everything Tottenham.

If there was big pressure on the coach and players from the top to win at least a trophy or the season is a failure and heads potentially roll then things would be different

Conte has spoken the truth.

Too many people at the club happy to live in London and collect a wage.
Not all the truth.

Had he added " I'm a shit, arrogant cunt whose only ability is to take the absolute best team in the league, by far, to domestic glory, but am shit at every other aspect of being a manager and a person. Oh and Paracunti should be in jail"
Then he might be getting places.
