Am I the only one worried that this is another case of us being used as a patsy by an agent who actually wants to push a bigger club to hijack the deal?

If true, I think this is another miss step by Levy, like not cashing Kane in the summer. He’s trying to do “big club” things , when we need to do “smart club” things.

When was that ever successful for us either to be fair? Poch is the only one, and was that really successful?

I think Conte is a good signing even if he only stays til 2023. Firstly because he's a world class manager and I actually think our squad is suited to a 3-5-2.
Secondly because I think he has the pull to bring in top players. Vlahovic & Kessie both have contracts running out, so will have many choices. Conte gives us a chance of bringing in both. Let's say Potter took over in 2024, what would he prefer, a squad with Vlahovic and Kessie, or relying on Scarlett and Dele?

I'm sure all the previous managers like Mourinho and Nuno were promised to be backed before contracts were signed and nothing much happened afterwards. Poch the same. For Conte, he was rejected by Real Madrid. PSG and Man United so Spurs is another big payout for him even if it's just for 6months . €15m per year salary. It's a win win for him. Spurs needs a manager who can build the team long term for success like Klopp did for Liverpool. Conte isn't a good choice and may not win anything. His appointment will be another quick fix please the fans save face solution by Levy.

Abandoning the frugal ways of the past and finally realising if we want to compete we have to actually put the football first?

I get the feeling levy knows that spurs fans will not accept any more shite. We pay the highest prices, we fill out the stadium. We have been patient. There is no more fobbing off to be had.
 
Yes this is a short term fix and it's exactly what we need.

The squad is on its arse with poisonous characters allowed to linger for far too long.

All the younger players/more recent joiners will buy into Conte.

If anyone can get Kane motivated again it's him.

The shithouses Dele, Winks, Doherty etc. Will be banished to the U23s as they should.

If Conte is coming it means he has been promised big money to spend.

Levy will be exposed like never before if this is all a ruse and he doesn't deliver on his promises.

This will be an incredible appointment and exactly what we need to wipe the slate clean.

Then why didn’t Conte sign this summer?
Also Jose said the current squad was great when he joined, and Nuno had no leverage to be promised anything.

There isn't a wrong or right answer here IMO. Monchi is regarded as one to the best in the world but I say that a playing style can't really be pinned on him. Whereas Ragnick has a clear brief of philosophy and recruits within this both in terms of player profile as well as coach's, the same can be said about Txixi and Berta at Atleti at the other end of style debate.

It's just my personal preference that I think the DoF should own and nurture how a club plays, I like the Ajax blueprint.
