Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I was looking at Model 3s recently, purely as much next door neighbour and bathroom fitter both bought one each within days of eachother. You can get really good lease deals on them, £400ish a month. When you consider there's no road tax and it costs about £7 to charge up over night to do 300 miles.
We have 3 cars in our house, a daily, a station car and my overgrown manchild toy.
I run 2, tax is £70 combined. Both cost £90 to fill up. One will do about 350-400 miles on a very, very gentle run, the other is an M3 so won't lol.

I think the government should give up pushing the environment when talking about EVs and focus on how cheap to run they are and, if you have a home outlet, you never need to go to a filling station again (unless doing long old trips)

Anyway, I'll stop talking about my other love. I very nearly gave up my season ticket and went all in on that but Conte pulled me back in.

Here’s the rub: my work pay me car allowance and pay the fuel for my business miles. Therefore I can drive a fairly juicy motor (a poor man’s M3, incidentally, a 335i) and my loan repayments are covered by the car allowance whilst the fuel is covered by my work. I don’t do leasing as I can’t stomach having to give the car back after three years. If I wanted to buy a Tesla then I’d have to pay literally twice the up front cost I paid for my 335i on the used market (upwards of £30k) so my car allowance either wouldn’t cover the repayments or I’d have to pay the loan back over a long period of time (say, six years). Like with the petrol car, my work would pay for the electricity and this would save them a fortune compared to the fuel they pay me for. So why not incentivise me to switch to electric? Why not increase my monthly car allowance to offset the savings in fuel allowance they won’t be paying me if I were to switch? Businesses need to think more about how they pay workers for use of private vehicles and make it attractive to switch to electric.

I’m in a fortune position whereby fuel costs are irrelevant to me, but I want to switch to electric to enjoy a similarly (or even moreso) luxurious and fast car which harms the environment far less than my current vehicle. But as things stand if I did make the switch then my employer would save a lot of money but I would have to pay through the nose. Businesses need to do the numbers and encourage the switch to EV, not just governments.

Some, err, “count” sent me this a couple of days ago on WhatsApp:

If it was some twat Gooner trying to be funny then that one came back to, ahem, bite them.

If one can’t feel optimism when you’ve just appointed one of the 5 best managers in the world after the last 2 seasons, I’m not sure why you’d even follow football?!
Because the squad is the real problem. I’m glad we have gotten rid of NES because he was wrong on so many levels. But conte ain’t turning this lot into world beaters.
Levy isn’t changing his spending habits
So forgive me if I think it might just be another false dawn.

I've only been a fan for 7 years now. So you folks have a lifetime more experience to draw upon. But if I ever felt the level of hopelessness you guys have, I'd have to find a new hobby.

Love the Eeyore pic, btw!

Am I expecting Conte to change us to world beaters overnight? Nope.
But I certainly expect to see marked improvement over the last several showings.
And I think he has all he leverage w Levy right now. So yeah, I expect him to improve some players w talent, get rid of others, and bring in some new blood. Some in Jan, some more in the summer.

Let’s put the trust in the manager, the DOF and the board for once, shall we? This should be exciting times for Tottenham, let’s enjoy the ride and be more positive about the future. :)

I've been following Spurs intently since around 2008, and dude let me tell you that you picked the wrong team.

Tottenham is a club for only the sickest, most miserable, and most self-loathing individuals on the planet.

We’ve identified targets, convinced ourselves their clubs will be vulnerable and desperate to sell, that’s not the way the football world works anymore and we’ll be quoted outrageous prices and stonewalled, we’ll begin sniffing around more attainable alternatives, and we’ll see if Conte blows his stack.

Who knows. Getcha popcorn ready.
I´m more interested to see if Conte survives the two months leading up to the transfer window with the dross we have!
