Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

they had a 19 year old in midfield and a CB ive never seen before. you cant claim that was a strong liverpool side surely
Why is it that when we come up against these sides there's always an excuse for them not beating us, but our own issues are completely ignored? I now expect the media to do it, but our own fans?

We were missing our own starting midfield and arguably our first choice CB too.

It might not have been the strongest side Liverpool could muster, but it certainly wasn't the strongest side Spurs could muster either. Their forward line is on fire, ours has been stalling for most of the season. Had our forward line been on song we'd have hit them for 6.

We can compete with the best on any given day, but doing it consistently against all comers is our next hurdle, hence why I agreed with your assessment that we need new/replacement playing staff.

We still do need new players. We have a new manager bounce and the players are probably getting that twice over due to having to work with dour Nuno, but we will almost certainly have sticky periods.

Under this manager, with this squad, can we get top four? Possibly, depends imo if United continue to massively underachieve based on their talent. But we can’t build on that at all without new players brought in.

Conte is fucking gold dust though. The vibe in the stadium and around the whole club is totally different to how it was under Nuno. The man has breathed new life in to the whole club.
This isn't a new manager bounce mate. The players are now being coached, there are patterns to our play both with and without the ball. ALL underlying stats support a coached side, we are now outshooting our opponents almost every game, whilst conceding fewer shots on our own goal, we've not done this for three seasons!!

We will bring in new players, we've done that and some since moving into the new stadium, we'll do it again.

It’s partly new manager bounce. That doesn’t also mean we can’t be coached better (we are being) but the amount the players are giving for the team now can be attributed to a new manager who has given them a jolt. I’m not saying it’s the only reason for improvement, buts it’s a factor we should be aware of.

We look better in every department under Conte, that’s for sure. He’s a proper coach with an actual system who is in his prime, so no surprise. But I’m still wary of getting caught up in that and believing improvements in the playing squad aren’t required.

I’d be amazed if anyone is. This group of players have thrown Poch, Mourinho and Nuno under the bridge so far. They won’t think twice about doing it to Conte either eventually.

I think Conte will end the debate about the most important person at the club, ITS THE FUCKING MANAGER!!!!

Out squad has issues but it wasn’t remotely as bad as Jose and Nuno made it out to be. The squad under AVB could have been better but Poch showed it was far better than AVB had been making it.

We have now had two lessons from two managers that it’s hard to judge a squad till a proper decent manager has been at the helm. I hope this time fans will remember it and most of all I hope Levy will remember that a good quality suitable manager is the biggest thing he can do to fix things, without the manager there are no foundations to build on.
Without a coach with a effective plan, there is no chance to build a squad coherently and efficiently.

"Same players, different Manager"................................

So you are saying from our last 6 managers, Poch is 4th best ..below average.

Ryan Mason was here for a VERY short period of time so it's a case of much larger sample size, same with Sherwood. Conte has also not been here for very long, let's compare his win % to Poch when he's been here for a couple of years.

Of all the managers on this list who completed an entire season, Pochettino has the best %.

I believe that Conte is starting from a higher point talent wise than Pochettino was.

We were so badly coached over the past 2 years and I’m glad that Conte is showing this.

Agree, Poch at his peak was the season Conte won it with Chelsea, admittedly we did have CL football that season and Chelsea had nothing and to be fair we did play better football than Chelsea that season , we just dropped silly points. Poch’s football at its best was better to watch but Conte’s I think is more clinical and I think that’s absolutely what we need right now.

I expect Conte to have a better winning % for sure.. not only is the squad in a better place, but we SHOULD have more resources, and he's in his prime whereas Poch was still a work in progress manager.

As much as I didn't like Jose, he actually had a string of very unfortunate breaks during his 2.5 years with us. There were SO many injuries during the course of those two years that it's really unfair to fully judge him.

Any time we'd go on some kind of run, it would be BOOM - Kane out for weeks, then Son goes down with red cards/broken arm.

Kane missed 23 games and Son missed 16 games from the 18/19 season to 20/21 season.

Hard to get anything going with those two missing that many games.

Jose Mourinho was never our manager. Didn't happen.
