Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Conte has to play Moura as the create/game changing player, that is the P1 this window
sad to say Tanguy (& GLC) need to go this window get in someone who can play the Eriksen role

He doesn't want to switch to 4-2-3-1, and he's working with Paratici to have a squad where he doesn't have to, but that was the only card he had to play today and he waited too late to play it. Lucky to get away with it.

I'd call that the winner we deserved against Southampton. Swings and roundabouts.
The truth is the 4 321 doesn't suit any of the back four bar Emerson. We are stuck the 'easiest' thing is to by a left and right wingback better than we have. Lucca Digne is that on the left, RWB has to be Lamptey.

I think he has done exceptionally well since coming in and he needs to be backed.

That being said, I do sense with these sort of successful yet arrogant coaches are sometimes too set in their ways with certain players and it would only take the smallest of things to get on their bad side.

I refuse to believe N'dombele would not have offered something different in the last 2 games

Forget about Ndombele, he's done, Conte isn't going to play him for love or money because he doesn't deserve to play and he's sending that exact message out to the squad.

It's not that mate there's a loan to buy thing on the table I was told two offers. They are reluctant to play him least injury scupper it. I was told the player had to decided bit it was happening.

Correct, not at all, but in the flow of that particular game with the options on the bench pulling off Reguilon for a central creator was obviously needed and should have happened on the hour. There was no other move to make, it was that or let Royal keep crossing to no one.

That's life, nobody's perfect. Roll on transfer window.

Err you lost me. I wasn't talking about any game.Oh hang on I think I see what you mean. He is stuck a bit till he gets his preferences.

hope its true, just hasn't worked out here so needs to move on
got great skills but just not fit enough and no heart to play
Yeah even Levy (finally) gets this. I'm fairly sure he's played his last. He's on the bench and traveling to show buyers he is fully fit but will not be risked. You know people have accused A.Gold of being too close to the club, well I heard this two weeks ago. He must know it but hasn't even hinted it. That's not exactly fearless journalism

then give his position in the squad to a kid. Putting him as a bench option leaves everyone frustrated when we see he has the attributes to break teams like Southampton and Watford down but doesn't come on.

The goal changed my mood but not the laboured approach, poor attacking and ludicrous subs

It’s going well, I’m intrigued as to who he will sign, because this approach is not sustainable with these players

This guy appears to be the real deal. Came in to a squad who were lacking in motivation, fitness, quality, tactics the lot...

8 league games in and he's got 2.25 points per game. 85.5 points over a 38 game season. With exactly the same assets at his disposal as the previous manager. If we hadn't been robbed at Southampton that would be 2.5 ppg / 95 pps.

What a start to his Tottenham career. Also he is talking about it taking him years to build a squad to compete in the CL. That bodes well for his long term vision. I just hope he doesn't become disheartened with the setup as he appears to have done at previous clubs.

So what’s incorrect in that? They sold some players and he left lol. Doesn’t mean he didn’t build a good side and they added some cheaper players as replacements and Inzaghi as manager who is not bad actually. He’s outperformed Sarri at Lazio too I think.
He still left behind a good team/system. Inzaghi plays almost the same setup with some tweaks, so he pretty much came in and is benefitting from Conte's good work, they also brought in some players on the cheap who have proved successful signings.

I imagine Conte wanted to push on and challenge in Europe, this team is still good enough to win Serie A, but it won't get close to that. He wouldn't have been happy with just maintaining or very slightly improving on their level.

Sure seems like Inter backed him. 🤷‍♀️

19/20: Transfers In: £172.54m, Transfers Out: £60.02m = +£112.52m
20/21: Transfers In: £108.45m, Transfers Out: £74.30m = +£34.15m

2 seasons: +£146.67m in Transfers.
1 Serie A title, 1 Europa League final loss (to Reguilón & Sevilla).

Inter is also fairly comfortably in 2nd place in the all-time Serie A table behind Juventus and above Milan, and in the Serie A winners list this century (2000-2022):

Juventus: 12, Inter: 6, Milan: 2, Roma: 1

This (season's) Inter are outperforming last (season's) Inter at the league mid-way point (after 19 match weeks) across every metric.

It will be interesting to follow their fortunes this season.

We're seeing a marked improvement in our speed of play/tempo and our work-rate (distance covered) from Nuno's Spurs, and the positive results have followed. 👍👍👍

Despite all their faults we had 4 creative mids on the bench, while we huffed and puffed and had to rely on a CB to blow the house down in the 97th minute

We are relying on wing play, which is actually very welcome, but you need the staff.

Until he has his players, he should be orchestrating our attacks centrally with our CMs

with those types of opponent, that parked the bus from minute 1 to 90, it's necessary to start with a different lineup: bergwin, gil, lo celso, tanguy are better choices than skipp, PEH, Son (ATM, but we need some new quality players)
also the 3-line defence maybe is not necessary for matches like these
conte had these "limits" also in his previous clubs

Brilliant results thus far. Undeniably.

I will temper his start a bit by pointing out that 5 of the 8 matches have been @ home, and we've only faced 1 club (Liverpool) in the top half of the table in those 8 matches...

...but... you can only beat the teams you play and aside from the draw at So'ton (which felt like a loss), the results speak for themselves. 👍👍👍

Don’t overlook our chances today either. We had quite a few that on other days go in and it’s a comfortable win. We were on the road against a desperate team whose knocked off some big teams at times. The Kane shot that went wide, Sons shot from the Moura pass, Emerson’s cross shot where two guys were unmarked in front of goal…all chances that are > 50/50. When Tuchel took over at Chelsea they didn’t fly immediately, they were pretty boring and solid defensively at the beginning. We have areas to improve but turning draws into wins is probably the most important thing to be able to do over a season.
