Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Umm yeah, he stayed as long as he was backed. Last summer, when he left, Inter sold for about €200m and bought for €36m.
Right. Global pandemic. Kinda bad for business.

£100m of that was Lukaku. (Inter brought in Correa and Dzeko.)
£55m of that was Hakimi. (Inter brought in Dumfries and Darmian.)
Not to mention two dozen or so players returning from loans around various levels of Europe.

Inter are performing better this season (across every relevant metric at the mid-way point) than last season, despite selling 2 of their most valuable assets to balance the books.

It's all good, just want to make sure we all understand that he's not above reproach and he can't walk on water. He can't even regrow hair.

So far, so good. Save the Mura result.

Yeah, we were never in control of a PL game under Nuno the way we were today, final ball toothlessness notwithstanding. And we seldom were under Mou.

It's a different sort of problem.

But it's the festive period, we're knackered, Watford parked the bus, Royal was poor with bucketloads of dangerous opportunities, I'm not going to worry too much about it.

Conte is the real thing. There can be no reasonable doubt of that, even if he makes the odd mistake as any manager does. The only question is whether we can give him the backing needed to construct this into a killer squad before he sets his eyes elsewhere.
Agree. People forget how many times under Poch (who I love), we played the exact same match we did today. How many times we couldn’t break a team down and we only got a 1-0 because eriksen came up with some brilliance from outside the box (yes we could use another midfielder like him).

These games happen even under great managers.

They do and agree that this isn’t something new. It does seem to be a long running issue with this team, and it has caused us to often become a one dimensional team, and ultimately easy for teams to eventually figure us out.

Playing against a team that parks the bus is always frustrating, but what really bothered me today was just the complete lack of quality once again in the final third. On a counter attack we can be as good as anyone. Although our goal came from a set piece, we seem to be one of the worst teams (at least anywhere near competing at the top of the table) at corners, crosses, and usually set pieces. Watford were well organized on defense, but our lack of success in creating chances through most of the game was really on our inability to put in a decent cross, and a number of really poor first touches.

I‘m confident we will continue to improve and we will need to upgrade the team, but to your point this is not a new issue and it is just getting really tiring to see the same issues still plaguing us.

Proper good sides are clinical with their chances and beat that dreadful Watford side 4, 5, 6 - 0.

We consistently make hard work of these kinds of games for what I believe to be an attitude that goals will just come through knocking at the door.. that there's "plenty of time left" until they realise how quickly it ticks away and we're sitting in the 75th minute onwards looking for a goal.

That first half we should have destroyed them and had the game in the bag.

Watford are 19th on home form, 2 points above Norwich, going in to the game with 7 pts form 9 home games, 22 goals conceded and a -11 GD.
West Ham were 2 up at half time, ending the game putting 4 past them at a canter just a few days ago.

For us to have scored 7 away goals from 8 games this season is piss poor and I'm sure Conte is incredibly aware of something as obvious as this.

Son with 1 meaningful away goal this season against Newcastle is not good enough. Great player when things are on his terms but too often doesn't take half chances that separate him from the very best of elite players.

Delighted we won, 3 points are huge, momentum, confidence etc.. but on reflection I feel more frustrated than I did during the game, because perhaps like the players I took some form of false comfort in being the dominant team, constantly knocking at the door, expecting the win to come.

Onwards and upwards though. This top 4 race is well and truly on, and would take sackable form if we are not in with a shout come the final few games of the season.

I’d be Interested to see us play a 3-5-2 if we can bring in a playmaker in the middle of the park. The Lucas Kane Sonny front three can work wonders. But we need a change of tactics when it’s off. In Conte I Trust

Yeah, Stoke vibes.

Not very long ago, all the bottom table teams fancied their chances against us. Bit more cautious now.

Yeah, distinctly remember, I hope, a one nil against Brighton (?) at home, ce very late from outside the box… wonder if it was the year we were chasing foxes?

Who here is absolutely over the moon with Antonio Conte and how he has transformed the club ? He has single handily given fans belief again. He has completely bought back the fans passion for the club, which was severely lacking the last 3 years. 8 premier league games unbeaten and we have barely conceded under him, absolutely outstanding. Imagine what he can do with reinforcements? We have the real deal here. Just hope and prayer Levy doesn’t fuck this because this is the manager to bring back the glory days for spurs finally

2022 could be a great year for us - hope the bald maggot delivers in the transfer window as promised

The subs were fine. He's doing a great job with what’s available.

This is literally the same squad that didn’t have a shot on goal in what, 3 games of football?

Total rubbish. What gives people the idea we have some divine right to be challenging for the top 4 and spanking teams 4/5 nil away from home.

Get real. We have been miles off being that good for years. And you’re last sentence about sacking Conte if we aren’t there at the end of the season beggars belief.

Sack him if we aren’t challenging for the top 4? And appoint who? Who do you think is going to turn this group of players into the title challengers you clearly think we are? This side is over achieving under AC at the moment, the result of a top coach that is tactically getting an extra 10% out of a basically average squad. Look at our midfield ffs.

Also you have to consider whether Conte will stick around because he will want to challenge from the start of next season.
He won't want nor as a club can we be a five year project before we are ready as it's all too competitive up there now.

The 3-5-2 is Conte's preferred formation. I am certain that we will build the squad to suit it. But right now it seems more suited to the 3-4-3.

Great Post Don.....
And wouldn't it be great if some of the Levy fan club on here, just for once, showed some humility and thanked all those thousands of so called melts who made their voices heard and forced His hand.
If it wasn't for the melts, we'd still have #BackNuno :(
