Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You cant challenge for titles playing like that, no matter how many windows you get. Sounds like you're not even saying that its a personnel issue, but by design.

Conceding more shots on goal than relegation candidates is never a good thing ffs.

Yeah so how many shots were from outside the area?

All well and good saying that we concede a fuck load of shots but how many were from dangerous areas?

Whilst people wet the bed over last night, let's take a look back at this moment in time

Chelsea, under the stewarship of none other than Conte, were looking for their 14th win in a row.
They had a few early shots but were largely outrun and out hustled and lost 2-0, await to a team below them in the league. A team who stayed below them in the league all season. A season where Chelsea ultimately won the league.

We have done this to title winners over the years. They came to our gaff and got blitzed. Maybe the tables are turning. Maybe we go away to a lower team and they beat us, they get to brag but by the end of the season it means nothing.....

The only player on that list who is shit is Doherty.

Dier, Davies and Højberg have all been rock solid for Conte.

The issue is that Conte sets us up to play defensive, counter-attacking wank that doesn't make best use out of our attacking players.

I agree with your last paragraph but Dier isn’t rock solid and never has been

Davies and PEH are workmanlike squad players at best

Quite literally any manager who seemingly knows how to coach attacking passages of play.

A manager who could spot Emerson Royal is utterly useless after one minute of watching him play football.

A manager who doesn't act like he's doing us favour by managing us.

A manager who isn't wedded to a system and has absolutely no idea what do when it doesn't work.

A manager who makes proactive substitutions.

A manager who doesn't set us up to allow a combined 66 shots on goal away to Woolwich, Chelsea & United.

I'd take a guess that any 'unknown' manager, as you put it, would have us playing better football than this.

It is shite, regardless of league position (which will take care of itself over 38 games should we continue in this manner) and I cannot watch any more. Between Mourinho, Nuno & now Conte, I can't stomach watching us play this way any longer.

All the people 'enjoying' this style of football, let me know what I'm missing.

Top post mate and I agree with every word!!

Even if they were from outside the area, the problem is that if you keep on conceding that many shots, it will eventually catch up to you and those chances will go in. Like the goals we conceded against chelsea and Woolwich. Or the lucky deflections like Fred's goal yesterday.

Thats fine if you want to compete for top 4. But I'll say it again, you cannot compete for titles playing like that. I really hope that allowing this many shots isn't part of the plan.

Just write what I noticed yesterday at the game against United - I hope you don't blame me for interfering with Hotspur's internals as an "outsider"?!!

Conte's behavior is incomprehensible to me.
No emotion at all (I don't expect him tearing down the stadium or walking around foaming at the mouth...

I'm surprised that he doesn't make any move to show that yesterday was not at all - let alone a good - team performance.

Could have freaked out in front of the TV! (For that, Newcastle Arabia is lathered and shaved!)

Maybe it's the players or maybe it's Conte... Or a bit of both... But:

- Too often when we do have the chance to break we're ponderous. By the time we get to the half-way line we slow up and give the oppo too much time to regroup.
- A lot of the time the oppo are pre-empting our passes and are within touching distance to intercept.... Yet way too often we're too far away from x or y oppo player to realistically engage them.
- Virtually EVERY throw-in we get goes backwards and thus immediately grants the opportunity to push out on us..... This has been going on for years now so fuck knows why; but it does my fuckin' head in!
- Ditto the non-existent movement on throw-ins.

Yep. Better sides obviously have better strikers so whether the chances are in or outside the box they are going to score if you give them 20+ efforts. We can get away with it against Forest, Wolves, Brighton and Everton because they have nothing up front (see Evertons two 1 on 1's).

Best be the mutherfuckin case

There's literally no other explanation, otherwise we are f'd.

There has to be some explanation for the drop off in intensity between last season and this......

I mean, we've actually had a proper pre-season with Conte (much fabled fitness training included!) and we have signed reinforcements, but look way less convincing; especially on the break (which was our forte last season)....

No one will really know until after the World Cup. I don't know Conte well enough to know if he's done this before or not. But 100% Poch did this with us every single year, we started really slowly and then blitzed teams around Christmas and new year (whilst others struggled).

Yeah I remember up until November we struggled with our intensity then after that we stepped it up.

If we had won 13 straight, no one would be complaining.
