Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's a theory mate.

It's also not unheard of and is done by other managers. Right now it's thought that Klopp is doing it and during the pandemic Pep did it (he did it at Barca too) and of cause it's what Poch did every single season when he was here (he conditioned his teams to peak during Christmas and new year).
Actually a good idea!
I'll also suggest to my boss that I do my best at Christmas (I hope I get vacation), the rest of the year we leave it at the lower average performance - I get my full salary there too... :)

The players should know that nothing but the club comes first, first and foremost!
They should also know that people don't go to the stadium because they have a damp apartment at home - but because they love this club!
Damn it, work your ass off 365 days a year (you can get a day off on a leap year) and do whatever it takes to show you're worthy of wearing the Tottenham Hotspur FC shirt!

Excuse me!:(

When you don't value possession this is what happens
The possession stat was 52% to 48% last night though!

It's a bullshit stat - before last night we had the best defence or 2nd defence in the league based on goals conceded. So far this season our XG against hasn't been a disaster. Someone posted some stats last week on this that was worse than I thought but still not a disaster.

I am in no way making excuses for the performance last night, we were diabolical and played off the park
but don't look to the shots stat Man U's XG (1.61 from 28 shots, that's terrible) as anything meaningful. It wasn't a reflection of how good they were and equally, it wasn't the reason why we were so poor.

A lot of our possession happens in our half of the field. At one point in the first half the radio announcers mentioned that United had a spell with 92% possession over a 10 minute period.

If there is any truth to the claim that this is what Conte is doing (tapering our training output) then it has nothing to do with the players.

Yeah, I can't be arsed to investigate the territory statistics (as we were shit and don't really need that breakdown to support or disprove anything) but there were 5-10 min spells that we too would have had similar numbers, I don't think a possession stat for a 5-10 min period is in any way important.

5 years ago, 10 years ago we still weren't 2nd and well below united which was the point. they massively outspend us but im tired of the financial talk. i've laid out pure solid proof that they have spent more money, and more importantly as to original point Hag has spent more money than conte

Last 10 years for all european clubs

10. Chelsea – £413m

9. Aston Villa – £424m

8. Everton – £430m

Everton have a higher net spend than their neighbors Liverpool and the fortunes of these two teams could not be more different. Unlike the Reds, who have won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League under Jurgen Klopp, EFC is struggling to stay in the Premier League despite a net spend of £430m in the last decade.

7. AC Milan – £432m

6. Juventus – £560m

5. Woolwich – £583m

Woolwich are one of the most decorated English clubs and are a big spender in the transfer market. Over the past decade, the Gunners have had a net spend of £583m. This is the highest amount for a London-based club. Players like Nicolas Pepe (£72m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£57.38m) and Ben White (£52.65m) are some of their most expensive arrivals in the past few years.

4. FC Barcelona – £650m

3. Paris Saint-Germain – £940m

2. Manchester City – £985m

Manchester City’s story is very similar to PSG’s. Thanks to the arrival of the new owners and major investment into the squad, MCFC is now an unstoppable force in the English domestic circuit following a net spend of £985m. The club has won multiple trophies such as the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Community Shield thanks to the arrival of players like Jack Grealish (£105.75m), Kevin De Bruyne (£68.40m) and more.

1. Manchester United – £1.1b

According to this that was posted after the window closed we are 3rd over the last 5 years - with the 5th year back being the year of no transfers it stands to reason that over the 4 since the stadium has been open we would be bumped to 2nd.

Maybe Miguel’s intention is not to make excuses for Conte but the net result is the same. It plays into Conte’s hands and some people will believe it

If you break it down

He's been here for almost a year
Last 3 months of last season we were playing at full intestity
We had a full pre season
He got the players he wanted in the window

So why do we look so shit, what's the explanation?

Have the players had enough? Has he ran out of ideas? Are they tired? Have we been found out?

Because you don't go from looking good and looking to progress whilst having a weaker team to looking shite whilst having a stronger team.

So what's the deal?
