For me the position in the league is fine, if you'd have told me before the season started that by the break we would be in the top 4 and through to the CL knockouts I would have been happy enough.

However that's just looking at things surface level, the position is good but could have been better, we are there due to a good start, and currently clinging on to it. Had we maintained our form then we would be right in the title mix. That makes it frustrating for me, it also means that we don't have much momentum at present that leaves me worrying that we are more likely to continue to drop than we are to chase down those above us.

We all know the nature of our progression through the CL group so I won't bother commenting on that, ultimately we are through and in 1st place, that's all that matters for now on that front.

However, on an overall level, the performances have been way below what I would expect for the entire season so far. If this is some sort of long term ploy from Conte to finish the season strong then he better hope that the gamble really fucking pays off after Christmas, because right now all it looks like to me is that typical Spurs have set it up to look like some major achievement if/when we come 4th at the end...

It's vital that we win against Leeds tomorrow for me, we need to take some positivity into the break and to make sure that we still have a firm hold on top 4, then use the break wisely for those not going to the WC, get some players in for the beginning of January to bolster the squad, injured players returning, others rested and pick up again post Xmas intent on giving the fans something to cheer about...

yup, that's not a million miles from my thoughts TBH and pretty rational thinking. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. It's a more important game than I thought it was going to be...

Conte is starting to look a little foolish tbh. His desire to play players relentlessly then moan about them being tired is a little embarrassing. Considering the best athletes in the world know to avoid burn out he seems to have overtrained them when returning from their half summer and now scratches his head. His desire to play Royal is a fn joke! The guy is clearly angry that levy bought Spence with out his sayso but to cut his nose off..... His inability to bring in a decent MF with a passing range maybe his biggest issue, guess we will find out in Jan if he is even interested in one.

The players don't turn up for the first half of the game, if they did then that would stop the booing pretty quickly.

No goal for 8 first halves in a row I believe? No surprise the fans get itchy when they're paying good money to see the players decide they can't be bothered to play from minute one.
 
We need a Woolwich-style rebuild. No more half measures. We need a more long term approach like FSG did with Klopp. Of we keep buying players for specific managers, we'll remain in mediocrity in pepertuity.

Fully appreciate that. I just don’t like the booing I gotta say. Don’t think it helps the situation. The players know as well as we when it’s going poorly.

I'm not a fan of booing unless very necessary (like when Nuno/Levy was booed, fully deserved) but I struggle to blame or criticise the fans when they're the ones paying & from their perspective the players look like they can't be bothered to turn up for first halves.

I wouldn't do it myself. But it's up to the coach/players to sort out the lack of first half intensity.

Not a good look I guess to boo. But maybe it is what the players need to make it clear that they must do better in the second half as they have generally come out a different side

And thats one of the things i really like about Conte, he wont stand for it the way Mourhino did, or Poch did. Of course in the case of the later it just ate him up inside until he became ultra miserable until dismissed.
Levy knows Conte wont hang around, he'll just leave the club in the hands of Ryan Mason in heart beat

What's the use. We won't win shit because we cannot compete with the oil country owned clubs. So if top 4 and maybe a few rounds after the groupstage in CL, is what we can hope for. Why not look for a coach that plays attractive, modern, free flowing, Spurs-DNA football instead of this killing all my love for football, football.

Do you think there is the smallest chance that we are being led to arrive at this conclusion? Son's loss of form is a bit like Jan losing his legs and dele forgetting how to play football, run or score a goal. Add to this that Poch seems to be waiting for a 'suitable' job offer.

I read today that Conte wants to stay forever dishing up this tripe.

I'm pretty sure Levy would be happy if we came top 4 every season and got past the CL group stage. So it's not entirely certain that we are not led to arrive at this conclusion.

The worst thing about letting Conte go would be that we will probably get Poch back and have to wait another season until he is fired and maybe then we can start over. If we don't get Simeone. Than its even further away.
